Hi guys,
I just finished cleaning the chain of my bike. I used
1)Toothbrush
2)Kerosene
3)2 piece cloth
The procedure was same as brushing our teeth.
I know that almost all of us of us know this procedure, i just wanted to update the thread about smallest of the things which goes with my bike

No!!!! after cleaning the chain you will have to once again lube it, as all the dust and oil will be removed by cleaning.Originally posted by pulsarized View Postoh k.i should try it.but wont it reduce the lube?
Try it and you will know the pleasure of rest!

I want to do the same, but I'm not able to find single chain lube in vicinity (except motul chain lube which I can't afford now)...here nobody seems know chain lube oil all they use is engine oil.Originally posted by abhichotu.abhi View Post....No!!!! after cleaning the chain you will have to once again lube it, as all the dust and oil will be removed by cleaning.

BTW what are the good brands of chain lube? I know only Motul and OKS ....How many times single can of oil can be used ?

'Engine oil' is not preferred for lubing chain, Its W90 'Gear oil' which is used for lubing the chain. I use it too.Originally posted by lockhrt999 View PostI want to do the same, but I'm not able to find single chain lube in vicinity (except motul chain lube which I can't afford now)...here nobody seems know chain lube oil all they use is engine oil.

Go to a Car auto parts shop and ask him for W90 grade gear oil, only costs 90rs for a can of 1\2 litre which is enough for more than 1 year.
Personally, i donot recommened using chain lubes for our bike becuz they are extremely expensive and W90 grade oil serves its purpose excellently.

Not sure on this.. but W90 is not good for the O-Ring chain (the ones on our bikes).. the O-rings (rubber) hardens out..Originally posted by abhichotu.abhi View Post'Engine oil' is not preferred for lubing chain, Its W90 'Gear oil' which is used for lubing the chain. I use it too.

For me W90 oil does the best and i donot know anyother way for lubing the chain. Companies may launch as many products as they can, but i still prefer oil as a lubricant.
For every other member who thinks that oil harms the chain see below:
Note: it is not clearly mentioned about o-rings. but is for all types.

Seems like my Pulsar is not accepting the Motul 5100. The problem of leaking has once again appeared.
Now, only option left for me is to shift to mineral oil, which i will be doing after some 1000kms as there is nothing other than it left.
want to know about another incident look below
"Today, i was riding at around 80-90kmph on outer ring road of the city, when i was just to overtake a truck suddenly came up a cyclist from the side of the road on to the middle, i braked hard enough so that the bike stops in time and at the same time it doesnot skidds, but after all the efforts i ended up in hitting the cycle of the cyclist(not the man as he ran away leaving his cycle lying on road when he saw me going to crash on him), the front wheel of my bike hitted the rear wheel of cycle and the cycle was straightly thrown away. he was a old man so i just said him "Budape mein satiya gaya hai kya??" and carried away."
The stability of the bike was worst even under sane braking the rear wheel totally lost its traction, but i was somehow able to keep the bike on the two tyres.
