Single 55W focus light does not drain the battery. I am not good at mathematics so telling you from personal experience . Btw in my case most of the focus light use is on the highways when the recharging is at its peak. Don't know why this set-up does't strain the battery, but I am happy it is so. The stock rectifier can handle the extra load (have checked with voltmeter to ensure sufficient charging voltage for the battery).

Earlier I had added two circular 55W each, focus lights. These two lights drained the battery, if I would keep them on for 15 minutes without starting the bike(Since I have connected the lights through the ignition switch, you dont need to start the bike, just turn ignition key and the focus light starts) But had no problem running the two while riding the bike. Now turning the two lights on and starting the headlight !! even if not stationary ie while riding, would kinda mess up the light intensity and the battery. So I removed those lights and added a single focus light.

So have you got the rewinding stuff done on your dio.
Thanks madhav, me too pleased to meet a fellow 'dioite' !! Ya thread was kinda dead. I dont know why so. Maybe because most people who buy 100cc automatics do so just for the purpose of commuting, unlike us

As I said earlier I haven't done any rewinding, RR replacing, cut-out, etc. All electricals and parts on my dio are stock. I prefer having the honda reliability.

Thanks my fellow dioite !! Me too loved that look, unfortunately stock electricals couldn't handle the load .

        • Suspension Query

Anyone unhappy with the suspension (read: front suspension), of the Activa/Dio??

@Aviator riders; Is the telescopic suspension of the Aviator (drastically) better than the Dio/Activa ones?

I hate the dio suspension, mostly since your spine acts as a part of the suspension. But if its softer then around the corners it would not be so agile. Aviators telescopics should be much better than dio/activa's primitive hydraulics. But i'll leave this to the owners to comment..

            • hey sid... i have an old activa and yea i agree the suspension is a real b****... its like i get confirmation from the suspension that every bump that i see on the road exists.. i do hope there was some mod to make it more comfortable..

and nice work with the lights... i guess those are the 2 main issues we guys face.. poor road illumination by the headlight n suspension that makes u feel the road..

Is it worthwhile to retrofit telescopic forks on the Dio.

                • guys please help me out
                  my dio 2007 model
                  fully pimped
                  K&n filter
                  upjetting and tuned

                  ngk spark plugs
custom paint job of ken block ford edition
                  6000k hid

my bike ran 23k on the odo
and i see white smoke from the silencer

so its time for engine boring

so i got this idea of installing bigger bores
                  is it advisable
can anyone please say the pros n cons

Had thought about it earlier. I was thinking of going for the aviator telescopics, but then retrofitting them if not done properly, can really mess up your scoot and not to mention the safety aspects. I have seen pics of guys participating in the gulf oil monsoon rallies who do such mods.
                    See the pic below...

P.S.:Googled the image above, not mine. Original credits to who-ever took the pic.

The reason why I dropped off the idea is safety issues, I ride my dio very hard, esp through the curves and don't off-road that often. So the stock suspension thought literally 'back breaking' while off-roading, in the corners it works like a charm. I don't want to compromise on that. Also the fork along with the chassis contribute to the overall structural strength of the bike so I don't want to retrofit or mess with these components.

You should get in touch with any of the guys(here on xbhp) who participate in such rallies and ask them about their experience. That will help...

You can either mount the focus light on the body panel .....
Hello SID , I was also toying with this idea of fixing extra lights for my splendor+ , having just avoided crashes many times owing to it's pathetic headlight . I was thinking of mounting two on the chrome leg guard . How is that ? Also tell me the approximate cost of such two circular foglamps and their marked wattage each . How much is your stock battery , mine is just stingy 2.5ah lead acid . How much is is the approximate throw of the lamps ? I just need to see the road say 20 meters ahead ,clear, no dazzling the incoming rider . I also need to find where in my bike's harness I can tap for the power and switch . Thanks in advance .

Hi pinaki, you wont have problem mounting those lights(ready made brackets are available easily in the spare part shops) But choose those lights properly. Cost is around 150-250 rs per focus light(55W). If you can, try getting the focus lights which have 35W bulbs. In the pics of my scoot you saw before each of the focus light is 55W, the problem with 55W lights is that the stock battery(for dio its 5A) will never be able to supply enough current to make the H3 bulbs filament glow to the optimum temperature. In other words the 55W bulbs will never give same amount of light as opposed to say if you mount them on a car. Hence try getting 35W lights(don't know much about 35W auxiliary lights).

Even i use the 55W light only on highways, and recently I changed the stock bulb to philips 35W premium HS1. It promises 30% more lumens as opposed to stock so you can try that. (That bulb has a H4 type socket, dont know about splendor but dio's stock socket needed to be converted to fit the H4 type) I found this bulb slightly better than stock...
