First of a big thanks to you for taking the time and looking into the picture,. i was quite concerned about this as it is a critical part in the engine rather than a stray nut holding somewhere in the rear... I will post a high resolution pic so you can compare your vehicle also and let me know about it..

As you gave me a advice i will try asking those guys to remove it if possible or else dont know whether to go ahead and complain and whom to complain is all a question now..

I am in the run in period and clocked 200 odd kms and riding in the 0 to 40 kph range and keeping the engine under 4000 rpm rev range.. did you maintain the same things.

What maintenance routine do you follow.. are you a mechanic yourself for small things like chain greasing, handle barf alignment etc??

i found a list of yamalube made fluids to be applied for various critical areas in the vehicle.. Will share you that info..

How much have you clocked and what top speed have you touched till now? what about color fading? chennai is hot through out year and i fear the red fading soon? thanks a zillion again for reading,, and commenting..

Wish we form one hell of a team to maintain our bikes in pristine condition !! What say you ?
Sure thing Sriram.... We could help each other maintain our bikes well... Please do share the information you have... It will be of great help to everybody in this community...

During run in... I started of keeping it below 40 for a week or so... And then kept it below 50 till my first service... After that i got a bit tempted to rev the engine so took it to 80 n stuff a few times which i believe is not reccomended... Keep it below 50 at least till around 1000km... And then slowly increase your speeds as kilometers go by...

Well i'm not much of a mechanic myself... I know what has to be done and how to do it... I mean like chain lubrication etc... But usually i end up takin my bike to a mech to do it... I do tune my carb sometimes myself...

I usually service my bike every 2000km... And take it for chain lube whenever necessary as chain gets dirty very fast... Using synthetic oil currently so i change oil every 4000-5000km depending on the oils condition....

I have clocked around 21500 kms till now and the odo is rapidly increasing everyday... The paint has not faded much till now... Actually has not faded at all... A nice wash and polish and it looks brand new except for a few scratches on the tank which become visible under sunlight... N i have touched a top speed of around 108 till now on the speedo...

      Hi Prashanth,

I called Orion motors he said AGIP fully synthetic is of 5w40 grade and costs Rs.600, is that ok?

      • Hi Prashanth,

Thank you very much for sharing this valuable information about odometer reading and top speed clocked.. i assume the top speed was clocked when you were riding single ? Correct ? your bike seems relatively new as it has clocked just 21,500kms..

As you said i will start sharing more & more information about maintaining the gladiator (ybr125), as i used to maintain my previous vehicle myself (Yamaha RX135 - 4 speed).. i used it for 8 years and clocked 1..5 lac kilometers before i moved on to this recently...

I know a four stroke motor is more sophisticated and i am learning each new thing about it everyday from people like you...

        Keep posting dude..

I recently found a link of the yamaha ybr125 (UK equivalent of yamaha gladiator) and was happy to read some good review comments on its engine and comfort.. it was portrayed there in UK as a pure commuter vehcile..

pl click and enjoy reading and its pictures... i think the vehicle got the same configuration as that of urs except for a more different outlook

Yes the price is ok... I had paid around the same... But are you sure you want to jump to fully synthetic straight away?? I would recommend goin semi synth and then synth so that most of mineral oil remains are flushed out while using the semi synth...

No, the top speed was actually clocked when i was riding with pillion... The road was sloping downwards... N yes i guess my bike is relatively new, but it has reached its change spare parts time... Like soon, in my next service or the one after that will have to change my sprocket and my air filter

Thats something we have in common... I used to own a Yamaha RX-135 too... It was a second hand, used it for about a year and a half before i moved on to the gladiator...

I know very little about bikes myself and i'm learning from people everyday...

Gladiator too has got some good comments in India about its engine and comfort... Its got one of the most durable engines, for example look at the ybx 125's on the road... I know some who have abused the bike greatly and are still riding the bike even after a lakh kilometers...

N the ybr125 that you have given a link to has slightly different configuration.. Its power and torque figures are also similar to that of gladiator... But its got fuel injection... And seems to do better at higher rpms...

            • 1. That may be because of the FI,, ours is a carburetor version
              2. At least i am happy that our motor is being sold in Europe also ...
              3. Even the engine casing and the trims are the same...except the powder coating version..
              3. Do they have pulsars, apaches and tvs flames in europe?? atleast from this we can say our machine may be kind of more reliable than their;s i believe there are different versions of stunners available in Europe...

              4. Did you have vibrations of any sort when you revved hard.. the company claims it s a free revving engine?

              5. That figure of 108 kph is cool with the pillion... but how long did you sustain with that speed ?? like a fully blown zma can cruise in 100 kph plus with a pillion for a long long time....

1.2.3.Yes, that is surely because of the Fi. N the engine has been in service for a long time, over 10 years and thus we can be sure of the reliability. I don think they have pulsars and apaches in europe... Primarily because both are Indian companies... They do have a presence in South American and South East Asian countries... Whereas with Honda, Suzuki and Yamaha it is possible to find European counterparts of bikes sold in India... For example, the stunner, cbf230 i think which is the Karizma here, and ybr 125 as u mentioned...

4.N there are no vibrations when the bike is revved... I mean the vibrations are hardly noticeable... N it is a very free revving engine... Can be revved to around 9.5k rpm in all gears except for 5th where it runs out of gas... N the bike is very happy too when revved as the power band too is at higher rpms...

                5. I harldy kept that speed for a few seconds... The gladi being a 125cc bike cannot be ridden at above 100kmph speeds for too long... Maybe for a few minutes... Getting to a above 100kmph is an achievement... The tuning should be perfect and the road should allow for the bike to creep to 100... Till about 90 i feel the bike pulls beautifully... You can easily cruise all day with a pillion at around 80-90... What makes cruising even more fun at those speeds is the handling... It feels very planted and is fun around curves and inspires confidence...

                • I appreciate your time prashanth..

                  1. free revving means better breathing means better breathing with high flow air filter is what i understand... nice to know you have revved it till 9.5k rpm... the rpm meter is a boon to us right ?? helps a lot in knowing the engine...

Yeah, you are right, i think none are for sale outside india....as you know the Apache was an r&d from japanese Fiero unit, the flame was a de-tune of the Apache from 160 cc down to 124cc, the shine is a de-tune of the unicorn from 149.9 to 124.9...so is the cbf stunner... the discover should be a de-tune of a pulsar 150,,,,,so I feel that all these models were primarily designed and marketed for the Indian market having the semi-luxury ridership in mind which primarily looks for economy, medium weight and moderate power....in that bandwagon i feel our model has an edge over all these models of sharing its cousins in international markets in the form of more advanced ybr's...i beleive that our engine deisgn should have been exclusive for 125cc...

Today there was one more dis appointment... the tire pressures of both tires are dropping by around 15 points with in 4-5 days.... what could be he reason.. will it be due to summer?? or poor quality nipples?? i am getting vexed yaar.. mine are mrf on both front n back...

The current Yamalube mineral oil is just crap.Avoid. One of my friend got my bike serviced at a new Yamaha SC and they used the normal oil in bike. Now I am stuck with it for 2000kms.
dude some 2 months earlier when I was arguing tat the yamalube engine oil is crap then you were supporting the yamalube saying tat it's a gud one...

But now y r u changing ur decision saying the yamalube engine oil is crap?????

Kindly look back a few pages and read my lines properly. I specifically mentioned that Yamalube Semi synthetic is a better option than most oils. Not the Yamalube MINERAL oil.

Check your tires.... My tire pressure doesn go down so rapidly... Tire pressure should not be going down so easily in the summer... Even i have mrf both front and back and i don face this problem...

N yes Rpm meter is very helpful... Even while tuning the carb n stuff it is much easier because of the rpm meter...

Is this bent... If it is then i guess you will have to replace it... I don no if they can be straightened... I guess a google search will help...

Sorry for late replies, i heard my friend saying, one needs to keep checking the air pressure of both tires once in two days and its mandatory to do it to keep the alloys in good conditions at all times.. is it true? what is yoru frequency of checking the air pressure for both the mags...

thanks for reading my posts prashanth

                              • ^^ I dint know about that.... I check my air pressure once in 15 days or so... There is minimal decrease in pressure even with this time interval... I guess once a week or if you are used to filling 5-6 litres of petrol i guess you can check your tire pressure every time you go to fill at the gas station...
