Are you sure he did delhi to badrinath in 24 hours?? Because that would mean he was riding very very slow... Delhi to Badrinath is about 550kms... Which should be easily done in about 13 hours or so... If he meant delhi-badrinath-delhi then it would make sense... N as i have said earlier touring is quite good on the gladi... A little irritating on steep climbs but otherwise it is a very relaxed ride...

actually the badrinath-delhi route is a hilly route so you cant ride the bike more than 40 kmph in hills. The blind bends & steep climbs does not allow the rider to dare to increase the speed beyond 40 kmph

        • ^^Oh ok... I had no clue about that... Thought national highway 58 connects delhi and badrinath.... Dint no movement on the highway would be that slow...

          • ^^^I am not trying to prove you wrong prasanth.

What I hav told is based on the experience from a person whom I hav personally met.

And the NH 58 looks something like this NH 58 | Discover Uttaranchal Uttarakhand

Can you ride the bike at a high speed at a place like this where you dont hav any chance for a second mistake ??

Maybe 24hrs be little bit long but not too long when considering the photshoots, breaks etc

              • Doubt.. Wanted to clarify

While riding, when ever i shift gears and sometime when riding pretty slow (traffic signals) and while trying to pickup speed by starting from Gear 2 and up (Instead of gear 1), engine makes a pretty strange and different sound for a second or two and ceases when revved up, this generally happens when vehicle is slowed during corners and manouvered in second gear to pick up speed, ((This sound is slightly similar to the sounds cars genrally make in turnings when the car drivers manouver the vechicle in third gear itself being lazy to downshift it to sencond causing the vehicle to sound a rattle))... Here i am not talking about the knocking that generally occus in upper gears in slow speeds, the sound from engine i am talking about is a like multiple clicking sounds along with regular engine beat that ceases as RPM increases....

If you had similar experiences pl reply me.. let me talk to my SC guys in between.. Thanks for reading/

                • ^^ Its the same reason as in cars. Engine does not produce enough power for acceleration... Once you rev higher and the bike is in its power band... The engine produces enough power...

                  • Does Yamaha gladiator comes with sound along with indicator flasher?

I dont get a sound when i engage right or left indicator....The screws holding the tail light lens is completely rusted...

Dotn know why such poor quaility parts ?? Feel so sad to discover something new like this everyday..

The tyre pressure seems to have stabilized now..

                    • ^^^no dude the yamaha gladiator does not come with any tone for indicators & I think that the sound would be much irritating.

Hav you tried to call the service engineer for the rusting problem??

                      • Hi Madhav,

Can you please check the condition of your tail light lens holding screws and the nut holding the wire leading to the carb, that is present just before the starting of the carb.

                        • ^^^dont know about the taillight but the carb screw is as good as new. I think that the problem is persisting only in your bike & not in other gladiators.

The only course of action that I can suggest is to buy the finest sandpaper that you can lay your hands on. Use it to gently scratch away the rust. Use this course of action after you have tried Anti rust sprays and the likes. Also get an old toothbrush and some old engine oil.(save some of the oil when it is drained in your next service).Dip the toothbrush in the oil and rub all the nuts and bolts as much as you can. Also apply it on parts that you think can be rusted.
Also pour a little amount of the engine oil into the exhaust of the bike. Use the brush to apply the oil on the inside of the exhaust as far as it can reach. Start the bike after you have poured the oil and rev it for 2-3 times to make sure the the oil spreads inside the exhaust.
This is to make sure that the exhaust doesn't start rusting.
I dont know how your bike has started rusting so soon. Contact the Yamaha SC asap and let the lead engineer know.

P.S.: Is this your first bike?

                            • Tappet noise issue .... when speed is higher than 60km/hr

                              hi folks....

i am having an issue.... my bike Yamaha gladiator type-ss

7 month old .... actually the problem is related to tappet setting

the mechanic told me that in summer u should loosen the tappet..

and also he changed the idle RPM of engine to 1100 ...

hence i am facing the problem at a speed greater than 60KM/hr

the ghungaru like sound coming from engine .... plz suggest something ... he(mechanic) is right ???

                              • ^^ Tappets are loose. I dont think you have to loosen the tappets in the summer... There is a given clearance by the company which should be followed at all times.
