Yeah it will definitely help you. You can feel a better response in terms of torque transmission.

What happens is that the rubber cush gets hardened as times goes and the cushioning effect is reduced. There will also be a compacting effect on the rubber due to the torque transmission thereby creating gap between the sprocket mounting hub and the rubber cush. Due to this you can feel a play of the sprocket mounting hub and this will cause a jerk during initial pickup.

What I do is when periodic greasing of the back wheel bearings I check for the hardness of the rubber cush by feel. If they are very hard I replace them. There is no particular change frequency. It also depends upon the climatic conditions also. The best way is to replace it when it becomes very hard and the spocket mounting hub is having play W.R.T the rubber cush.

    Cheer,

Not fixed. When the seals start to leak, change at that time. If it isn't, then no need to change.

Ya! SVC guy also told me the same thing no need to change till it leaks, but for my old bike (HH passion) as per preventive maintenance schedule it was 12k on the odo for fork oil replacement. So was thinking if it is required for FZ also. SVCs generally don't follow the maintenance schedule.
Till now SVC guys haven't changed my air filter also, as per manual it has to be changed at 12k. They are saying its fine, no need to change. I was even asking them to do the swing arm & handle bar bearing greasing as per schedule (after 12k), they said we generally don't do it, we directly replace the bearings once they are worn out.

Could you please list out the things required to be done after 18k?

Ya, svc don't follow the mentioned tasks. They don't want to open things unless they are creating problems (they don't know about preventive maintenance, only breakdown maints. )
The list is mentioned in the user manual.
For now, Change the spark plug, air filter, chain-sprocket set (first check its condition, leave it if its fine). For rest, do as svc says

The SVCs depending on their size take about 40 bikes everyday which they have to service and return the same day. Do you think they will perform any kind of preventive maintenance? They simply don't have the time! And even if they do, they'd rather spend that time on servicing another bike and getting some more money. Preventive maintenance has to be done by you or your trusted mechanic. I got my swingarm joints greased and brake shoes, cush rubber replaced recently. Bike feels new again! I replaced the air filter myself at 11k kms.
You better get the swingarm joints greased of you are hearing squeaking sounds etc.

Any special maintenance advises for my Yamaha fzs battle green during rainy season?
I can't avoid the rain while in office, dust+rain= dried dirt later.
I dust it with a soft duster to remove the dried dust marks since I cannot wash it daily.
Since its battle green, new scratches look raw white, and seriously frustrated. Pls advise me
                Thank you

True what you said, but even then most svc don't even do necessary jobs, let alone the preventive measures.
I have been doing servicing myself for long now and do almost every work myself. This is the best way to keep the bike healthy. Just i couldn't do the complicated stuff (don't have the tools required) and don't have time to visit svc

What happens when you're riding at some speed and use the engine kill switch?
I always thought the bike would stop abruptly and make me somersault, though never tried it. Boredom and curiosity got the better of me one day and tried it in the parking lot (at slow speed, in 3rd gear) and did not engage the clutch. The engine did turn off but bike kept moving as though it were in neutral. It eventually slowed down and stopped. Couldn't push/move unless I changed the gear to neutral or used the clutch.
Is this normal or is something wrong with my bike/gearbox?

Nothing is wrong with the gearbox. The bike behaved normally.

actually, when we use engine kill switch, the current supply to the spark plug is stopped & hence the spark plug doesn't produce any further sparks to burn the air-fuel mixture. so, the engine shuts as it happened in your case. But since the pistons keep on moving due to inertia, it takes some time to stop completely.

The bike wont move again because the gears are still engaged just like you put your bike in 1st gear & try to move, it wont move unless you engage the clutch

Guys Pls help me..My FZ had done 70k kms. Now i am facing with a weird problem of front end wobbling at speeds above 70 kmph. I had replaced the front steering head bearing @ 65k kms. There is visibly no leak through the fork oil seals. What would be causing the problem.
Bike riding gives you a sense a freedom which u don't get while driving a car..

You should get the whole cone-set checked. It might be due to improper installment of the bearing.

Hey Guys, Thanks to all the advices from xbhp, I finally made my choice and did the booking for FZ-v2. I will be getting it within a month. I am really excited about it. Although its bit too soon for me to think about this, but please tell me about engine oil for this bike. I mean definitely the yamaha would advice yamahalube mineral oil but i read in this forumn, there are many experts and enthusiasts using SS or FS oil for their bike. Please tell me which oil: Mineral, SS or FS should i use. I presume in starting i should be using mineral oil and later change to other two. But when can i change to other and which one SS or FS and also the interval in which i should be chaging the oil. Basically i would be riding the bike in city only and within a speed range of max 80kmph. I dont want to compromise on mileage but still want the best performance and smoothness possible.

Congratulations man for your new bike, first read the owners manual very carefully after purchasing the bike, change the oil as mentioned, you can opt for ss oil but only go for this change after 5000kms.One can't say about the mileage of the vehicle as the vehicle is totally newer version but according to the company verdict you should be able to get around 45km/l mileage if you ride the bike sanely.
