Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Thanks! I checked my air pressure and found it to be 26 for front & 28 for rear. I updated it to 28 f & 33r. Felt a little bit difference but yet drive properly to check if it has changed. But how did u recognize it? Also pulling "right" is related to air pressure? And such minor difference on air will affect handling? And also occasionally tak tak sound on heavy braking? Whats that? Thanks & sorry for so many questions new on xbhp.Originally posted by SpeedyKol View Post

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
If that tak sound happens along with the feeling that the handlebar is wobbly when you are going over a pothole,that means the triple tee clamp needs to be changed. Costs around 1700-1900 to be changed. U can also check it by keeping the brakes pressed while riding over a pothole. The tyre pressure is fine then and such a small difference of air wont result in that.Originally posted by Kartik Shetty View PostThanks! Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Yes there is slightly wobble along with sound... But it happens occasionally. My bike has clocked 28k is a 2011yr model. Is it necessary to change or can i move on and add more miles before changing? Also pulling to right has something to do with it?Originally posted by SpeedyKol View PostIf that tak sound happens along with the feeling that the handlebar is wobbly when you are going over a pothole,that means the triple tee clamp needs to be changed. Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Get it checked at the service centre. Tell them to grease and tighten the ball racer. Also inform them to show u the triple tee clamp. If the threads are eroded (not visible) u have to change it in order to get rid of the problem. If the threads are intact,a simple tightening of the ball racer will ensure everything to be fine. I have no idea about why it moves to the right when u leave handlebar.Originally posted by Kartik Shetty View PostYes there is slightly wobble along with sound... But it happens occasionally. Filling 2T oil after filling petrol in fuel tank is harmful or not?
Today I filled Rs 500/- petrol (normal) from bharat petroleum fuel station and I also fill 10ml sachet of MAK 2T oil into fuel tank.
One of my friend told me that 2T oil will bring more smoothness and lubrucates the engine head.
Does it really help, or not.
I have Yamaha Fazer 153cc 2014 with me.
Please advice...Regards

Yes. It will. But use 1 ml per litre also it helps to keep away rusting of fuel tankOriginally posted by saikatbyte View PostToday I filled Rs 500/- petrol (normal) from bharat petroleum fuel station and I also fill 10ml sachet of MAK 2T oil into fuel tank.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Now, pistons have three rings. Third one at the bottom is called Oil-Ring. The sole purpose of this ring is to retain oil in its cavities and lubricate engine wall. A better oil in the crankcase would do better job, no?Originally posted by saikatbyte View PostToday I filled Rs 500/- petrol (normal) from bharat petroleum fuel station and I also fill 10ml sachet of MAK 2T oil into fuel tank.

Any research to corroborate the claim?Originally posted by Jith_in View PostYes. It will. But use 1 ml per litre also it helps to keep away rusting of fuel tank~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

4 stroke engines don't need it but it doesn't do any harm since using at small quantities ie 1ml per litre. It will help to lubricate engine head and the carb diaphragm. Many members are using this on the xtreme/hunk thread with good result.Originally posted by Freak inExile View PostNow, pistons have three rings. Third one at the bottom is called Oil-Ring. Oil ring prevents oil seeping into the combustion chamber and slides with a layer of engine oil. Piston and cylinder walls are washed by the petrol after combustion so adding 2t oil will provide better functionality and a little smoother rideLast edited by Jith_in; 11-13-2015, 07:21 PM.Off the BOTTLE & On the THROTTLE

Please Help Me!!!
my cousin brother has gifted me his Yamaha FZ (2009 version) which has no kick, current ODO running is 25,000KM, bike looks good, rides good. as i m in a learning phase with this bike, i don't know whether its good or not. so decided to do servicing of the bike.
what is the default (Factory reset) setting for clutch? => currently bike is in half clutch.
It is necessary to change oil filter while changing engine oil? => if yes, then what will be quantity, because filter will soak some oil i guess.
currently the oil level is less, brother said he put 1 liter oil in bike then where that 1 liter oil goes. is engine burning oil, if yes then why?
as i live in Mumbai, kamala yamaha which is in Sewree is good for servicing? because i have read about it on xbhp
which engine oil for bike?
=>motul 300v 4t 15w50
=>motul 5100 15w50
=>motul 4t 20w40
4 years ago rear mac wheel of the bike has a minute crack on it so my brother put a m-seal on it, but now after 4 years a small air leakage is happening from that m-seal part, i have to fill air every week to keep the pressure up. => should i again put m seal on it or buy new mac-wheel
when you drive your bike, whats your gear to speed ratio? => will help me to do better shifting
Thanks, for your precious time and patience for reading his message.

You should keep the clutch setting as per your comfort.

Yes, oil filter should be changed with every oil change.
100-150ml oil should be used to soak the oil filter and 1lt put in the engine. (I have never done so
)

Get the bike serviced and then check for yourself if the oil level is decreasing. In my opinion, oil level will decrease a little bit and will never come out exactly 1lt. But if the decrease is too much, then the oil is burning up. But I doubt it will be severe as the bike has done only 25k kms.

300v is not required in our bike. Would simply be a waste of money. 5100 is okay. I myself use this often or Yamalube 15w50.

It's dangerous to ride with a cracked alloy
get it replaced ASAP.

You have to find your own sweet spot. Some change gears in low rev range while some like to shift late.
Thanks, for your precious time and patience for reading his message.
Ride safe and have fun.
