Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Even i am going for change of chain. I think since its exposed directly to mud and dust and its done 18000 km , the dirt hits directly so chain & sprocket should be changed. Definately it will affect. If chains require more torque to pull because of added dirt, bends and degraded teeth in sprocket, engine gets more stressed out. So more fuel consumption.Originally posted by Kartik Shetty View PostChains are on their way out... Sounds have strtd coming from chain... Will this be concerns of mileage? I didn't knew chain are also related with mileage

18k is far less life for chainset on a 150cc. it should easily last 30k if not more. something somewhere is wrong."A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel."

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
I'm not talking about chain sound... I m talking about dhup dhup sound from silencer while using engine braking or downshifting and quick accelerating...Originally posted by theironhorse99 View Postpost a pic of rear sprocket and chain. sound can be anything from over loose to overly tight chain.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
as in "hollow fires" misfires ? it does happen to a lot of bike during de-acceleration due to lean tune but if its happening even when accelerating then this needs to be checked. you sure its the exhaust ?Originally posted by Kartik Shetty View PostI'm not talking about chain sound... broken tooth is extreme case bud. however i would suggest to change chain and sprockets together as a set. over period of time even the chain elongates.Originally posted by Anunay View PostI think the chain is fine, the sprocket needs to be changed. I can see the half broken tooth.
one old part will accelerate wear on new parts as well along with unknown extra issue. change both together."A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel."

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
I'm very sure that its coming from the silencer... Most of the time its coming while decelerating... Rarely it comes when accelerating but it comes at times... And lean mixure naah! Not possible i checked plugs.. Brownblackish..Originally posted by theironhorse99 View Postas in "hollow fires" misfires ? it does happen to a lot of bike during de-acceleration due to lean tune but if its happening even when accelerating then this needs to be checked. you sure its the exhaust ?

We don't get sprocket separately... It comes as a set..Originally posted by theironhorse99 View Postas in "hollow fires" misfires ? it does happen to a lot of bike during de-acceleration due to lean tune but if its happening even when accelerating then this needs to be checked. you sure its the exhaust ?

as far i can imagine there are only 2 scenarios which can cause such sound from exhaust
wrong tune on carb
rot/broken on exhaust somewhere which is letting exhaust gases from another hole as well which causes such sputtering.

if you buy off the shelf or 3rd party shops. you do get sprockets separately. trust me on this one.Originally posted by Kartik Shetty View PostWe don't get sprocket separately... It comes as a set.."A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel."

I think i had recently changed the choke cable... That might be the problem..Originally posted by theironhorse99 View Postas far i can imagine there are only 2 scenarios which can cause such sound from exhaust

give it a check. there is no way a 4 stroke silencer should make any noise other than the exhaust gas buffeting when engine is running."A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel."
