) also every bike was built for a specific purpose and to serve specified customers... Options are available.

I was asking in xrv.org.uk abt extra performance for my previous bike Honda XRV 750 Africa Twin and most of the replies were common to the first statement, that my bike was an adventure/off road bike so if i needed a faster bike, a sports bike or higher cc would be the best solution. Since that time, I follow and believe in those words..

Once you start modifying, its a disease that never stops till you end up spoiling the bike.

what u said is very true but its the looks of Fz that allows people like us to stick to it like disease to man.R15 is very good but it is not as appealing to me(no offence) as the Fz.So it feels to people like us to modify our bike to make it what a true naked bike should be.The engine doesnot justifies the looks,thats it.& regarding the pulsar 220 it is not in the leage of Yamaha Fz,it does have better cc,speed but not that oomph & build quality that yamaha provides.Thats why we are looking for affordable upgrades for Fz that will be low on pocket also..

Man u got me wrong FZ is my love at first sight neva bothered bout price of the bike mileage or anything i love her like my girlfriend i just want her a bit more decked with power thats all......if it will spoil her i wont go for it ....but i heard free flow exhaust is a upgrade by yamaha available as mufler kit in the race upgrade pack.....so i was thinking it would be nice if my love packs a bit more punch...

I'd say hold your horses till Master Tinkering Doktor: Joel Joseph, Race Concepts comes up with Reliable performance upgrade in the market for FZ. Yamaha's performance system is not worth the money.. unless you are desperate... Joel's set up will be far cheaper then that.. And please do note: putting in performance exhaust is illegal on streets and can be only used in tracks as mentioned by Yamaha.. unless kolkata police throws a blind eye to it...

....so what you advice bro ???........is there anything at all i can do without voiding its legallity

it is not about the free flow exhaust but rather the amount of noise it creates... if i am not wrong (i read somewhere) the permissible limit is somewhere around 45db (decibels) whereas kits like Dagrex go above 110 db. you can always sneak out by keeping the engine revs under 4000 rpm whenever you see the cops lurking around... or may be look for a db killer kit when riding during day and take it out during the night and rips its nuts off for insane sound and performance.

man cops are lurking here in kolkata evrywhere

lookin for bikers from who they can manage 100 or 200 rs

..and they are out now at nights also

.........I want to change the stock head lamp to a brighter one or to a projector lamp is it possible cause mechanics of my area told fz headlamp assembly is hard to modify.......if i settle for a brighter bulb only which will be the best in terms of fit and load on battery and cost is no bar

i suggest go through this thread carefully about 15 pages back... you get all the info your need regarding installing a HID projector kit. Normal headlight, you can go for osram nightbreaker 55/60W ... although it will reduce the average bat life in the long run... but reports on this thread have been quite positive.

I wont bet on that(for now atleast)...coz to develop the mods joel will need time(a lot of it)...and thats the only commodity he is running short on now.....
He has his hands full with the R15 development and the motogp....and mods for FZ, is at best, the last thing even at the back of his mind

....

M not dampening you people's mood but being more realistic with the genius being least interested about FZ now....cant blame him....motogp has started....
Instead of discussing ourselves better ask him all together

.....just a suggestion

Just bumped into this thread after I was guided here over the discussions

I will assure one thing to all the FZ owners here.
My upgrades will be ready in a month.
The goodies will be,
Free flow exhaust system - will give gains well over 10% with a decent nearly 10% bump in fuel efficiency (will be ready in 3-4 weeks) with DB cutter for street use. You can remove the db cutter for full performance when outside limits.
180cc bigbore block - will give over 15% bump in power and a very good bump in fuel efficiency.
CDI, larger carb, head upgrade, stock replacement airfilter etc will follow soon.

I will probably build a showcase FZ to showcase the full potential of the FZ in terms of performance.

I have indeed already worked on an FZ engine already (quite radical) and that guy is quietly having fun without updating anywhere on the world wide web

. Fuel efficiency went up from 28-30kmpl to 40kmpl and performance was good enough to whoop an RTR 180.

Will indeed keep you all posted.
My brand - "Race Concepts" will have the entire line-up for the FZ-16/fazer-16

Now there's a piece of news we've all been waiting to hear ... simply amazing ... i guess we can start a long list of those willing to volunteer to lend their bikes for the showcase

I guess now Joel has officially put to rest all the speculations.... Joel i am sure you will do something about increasing the top end of this bike... May i suggest opening a separate thread for Performance upgrades for FZ like you did for R15 so all queries and discussions can land up over there?? more irritating questions to you through pm after you come back

Now since the master has already spoken about performance upgrades.. you can get in touch with him for the same and not worry about DB problem since that solution would be provided by Joel himself..
