the problem is when i try to turn on the main headlight, my parking light and my digital console lights get TURNED OFF.....i saw that when i move my switch back towards 2nd position(not completly) they are turned on again properly..... is it a switch problem??.....will i get a free replacement? i have not yet done my 1st servicing....

also i keep my bike outside for long time in rain...will it have any problem in the electricals or anythng??

use WD 40 judiciously in the switchgears and the problem will go.. happens usually when the lubrication gets washed off due to rains.. you will periodically need to lube it.

    • Engine oil level check

      Hi guys

Please help me how exactly we have to check the engine oil level step by step.

After unscrewing the dipstick and cleaning it whether we have to screw it fully or just dip in without screwing to get the oil level?

What is the maximum and minimum level points in dipstick? Pictures would be more useful.

For lubricating joints and pivot points (brake, centre & side stand, wheel axles, etc) it is recommended to use lithium soap grease. It means white grease or shall we use normal lubricating oil in those points for lubrication?

      Thanks in advance

      • @gn.times - image provided is self explanatory.

The oil should be less than level 'b' and more than level 'a' (appearing as 'to' on this translated service manual image)

            Hey man don't be confused.

            1. First you need to make the engine warm.

            2. Go and ride few kms and put the bike on centre stand.

            3. Unscrew the dip-stick and wipe it with a cloth

            4. Now again dip the dip-stick but this time don't screw it.

            5. Remove the dip stick and check the level

You can see zig-zag markings on the bottom part of the dip stick and the engine oil must cover that zig zag length and it must be upto the zigzag level markings. It's ok even if it's half that zig zag level marking. If it is too low then top it up. And if you can't find any engine oil level markings on the zig zag then don't ride th bike until you top it

Man the sound which i have queried before and you said it maybe vibes but my friend says it might not be vibes because if it is vibes then it must also appear in 4th gear and not just 5th gear above 5k RPM. I wish if somebody senior could assume. Anyways tomorrow I'm going to my friend and he will be telling me the exact reason but I request if somebody with experience could throw some light on this matter.

Here's the link to the question asked

Just change the gears at higher rpms and see say about 6000 rpm on every gear if you are gunning her on the road... Might be the sound from the AIS box.. it is normal and nothing to worry about.. as i have said earlier it is a robust machine and will not die down on you so fast.

                Cheers,

You are lucky if you have that feature. I guess your FZ is a very recent model, and it will be a good thing if Yamaha has finally decided to spend a few more rupees by fitting this on their bikes!
One cable opens the throttle, one closes it. This is much better than having to rely only on a spring for closing, which leads to a strong spring (maker has to make sure that the throttle will close: very dangerous otherwise!), which in turn leads to wrist pain.
When I do something stupid, my consolation is to know that I'll do the worse one only once!

                      • Hi bros,

Here are a couple of pics of my (very modified) Fazer.

Besides the obvious and newly installed HID projectors + angel eyes (but note the broken brake lever: no replacement part available here!), and the rear disc brake that was installed right at the beginning, the less visible mods are: 66mm. TDR piston (sold as forged...?) for 200cc. capacity, 30 and 26mm. racing valves (instead of 28/ 34), 29mm. Mikuni carb. (instead of 26), with manifold enlarged accordingly, intake and exhaust ports reworked and enlarged to suit larger valves, combustion chamber reworked for compression ration 10.5:1 (instead of 9.5:1), all stainless steel free flow exhaust (following dimensions nicely given by Joel Joseph after some wrong experiments - three exhausts total!). 15 teeth sprocket.

The result, after about 800 km. is really great, although much diminished by the *$%@"^ db killer....without which the noise is just unbearable!

Max speed I got yesterday was 133kmh (nearly same as Joel's 180cc. on Youtube), but with db killer, and acceleration about 8 seconds from 0 to 100 kmh. (maybe less; to be measured precisely: quite concentrated on the driving at >100kmh. on Vietnam road!). Below 6,000 rpm, the power is very reduced by the dB. killer while it is superb without it...but the bike un-usable! Shifting into 5th is over 100kmh.

More to come: new, larger exhaust muffler to reduce the impossibly loud noise when without db killer, oil cooler, and from Race Concepts: race clutch springs, camshaft and air filter. Top speed should then hopefully be over - or at least about - 140kmh...???

How much did it cost so far?: I have not calculated, but a lot! Over half the India price of another FZ ...!
Is it worth it? In a country like Vietnam, where one cannot have a license for over 170cc. bikes (could still a couple of years ago, but it's now blocked!), and where, anyway, could one buy a big bike, the taxation is enormous (a new CBR 1000 RR costs near 30,000 US Dollars!!!), then it is definitely worth it to convert the otherwise very pleasant bike that is a FZ16 into a much more powerful one. I shall add that the selling price of a FZ16 Fazer here is >4,500 US Dollars, much more than the price you guys pay, reducing the relative cost of modifications. However, would one be allowed to have bigger bikes, or at least something like the Duke 200 (whose price tag would be very high, though!) , it would not be worth it at all!

In India (since 99% of you are Indians): I would consider that the much lower cost big bore+ FFE + a few other goodies offered by Race Concepts are certainly worth is too.
To use uncertain parts from Indonesia, get a lot of successive modifications to come to a good, but of unknown reliability bike, would make it not worth it, definitely!

                          • System G by IFTEX

                            Hi all,

thought of sharing the pics of System G Bottle by IFTEX.

For NOOBS: This is a petroleum detergent which removes and cleans carbon deposits on intake valve, combustion chamber and also removes gums and varnish from the petrol tank and the fuel lines..

The excess gunk gets deposited in the draining plug of the carburetor while rest of the dirt gets burnt off in the combustion chamber. If one notices the top part of the bottle, by default it has a measuring of 10 ml. So for FZs one part filling up of system G (10 ml severe dosage) along with 10 Ltrs of fuel consistently for 2 times will be good enough to remove excess gunk from your respective rides. Costs Rs. 250-300.

                            Cheers,

I am using STP Fuel treatment for my Fazer. Bought it from Reliance Autozone for 210 rs for a 236 ml pack.
236 ml clears up 14 gallons (52 liter) of fuel i.e around 50 ml per 10 litre of fuel.
I am surprised to see 5 ml of your SystemG is sufficient for a 10 litre. May be you are miscalculating!!
