Thats a mechanical jugaad ABS.. would not recommend it!!

Interesting to see what is a regulator? type valve? Allows a reduced pressure to act on the piston so you cannot exert enough force to allow the brake to lock up?
That is my theory.
Any one care to explain it?
More to satisfy my curiosity than anything.
We all know ABS required sensors reading the wheels speed and adjusting the braking force accordingly.

Absoultely correct, my friend has put it on the rear of his Duke 200 and absolutely nothing happened. It still locks on hard braking and the brake feel is way too soft now..

on the website Saferide ABS they have mentioned the make and their models for which abs is available and ktm is not available on it
though i am not in favour of this (cheap for a abs system;rs1500) but it may prove good given our traffic conditions.

It has not been tested nor there are any significant proof that it works. Never heard of this brand. So without any significant data to look into, i shall refrain from using it or advocating it to anyone should for any reason one finds out at a huge cost that it was just another snake oil and risking someone's life is not worth it!

Brakes are an integral part of a motorcycle and can be a matter of life and death in emergency situations so would not mess around with it.

Just my opinion.

Yeah, you can fit a car cigarette lighter socket on your bike, and then get a car charger for your phone that plugs into that socket.

It's easy but then it's advisable to make a small case or covering for the socket -for protection.


I wouldn't want to mess around with the brakes.

Anyway, I don't really think ABS is necessary for the FZ. I mean with the huge back tyre which really grips the road and a 150cc engine, it's not so easy to find yourself locking up the tyres. Unless you use only one brake for braking.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Rusted Disc

My disc has been rusted in few places and it makes a weird noise while braking , Is there a DIY solution to get rid of the rust and maintain the disc from rust during the monsoons?

Congrats for the new bike; awesome color. Few suggestions:

1. Remove the front wind shield; I did it as well. The bike will look more sporty
2. Remove the Front Number plate and if needed, paste a small number sticker at the front mud guard end.
3. Remove the saree guard, and install a leg guard (crash guard)for sure; it helped me a lot. Costs around 400.
4. If possible, remove the 2 mirrors; you will definitely see a sporty bike like a Ducati Monster.
5. The stickers pasted on the front fork should be removed, all black looks gorgeous.

If all these removed, then what to add ? here it is:
1. A authentic Pulsar tank pad (black)
2. A pulsar double horn , costs 350(sound good as its having 2 horns)
3. HID headlight with a white pilot light (parking light)

Already I have consulted about these mechanical ABS (saferide abs) with Experts. As per them, this is not an electronic ABS like we have them in Apache or CBR 250. So the performance is not matched here.

Moreover the FZ's brakes are powerful enough, perhaps than any other 150 cc bike. Learn the art of braking in high speeds. Like use engine braking a lot. Never press the clutch while braking. Rather clutch should be pressed while you feel the engine is going to stop/stressed.

Please dont suggest these to anyone.

Agreed. Riding without mirrors is illegal and makes you liable for a fine. Also, it's not safe.

Putting a sticker on your mudguard and removing the number plate is also illegal if I'm not mistaken.

Does any one else face issues with their fuel meter? Mine has a mind of its own. Even if there is fuel it blinks, or shows one bar, or shows full tank and blinks. Just random stuff.
