Changed both the tyres. Got the stock ones itself.
The Zapper FX 100-80/R17 and RevZ Y 140-60/R17. The RevZ is a bit more rounded than the original RevZ which was almost flat.

Got it done at Amogh Tyres at Kammanahalli. Was quoted 6000 + labour charges. Bargained downed to 5500 including labour charges. The guy didn't budge further as he said he needs to have 50rs margin per tyre and also pay his employees. Could've gotten it cheaper at JC road, but travelling there would nullify whatever I profits I would've made.
Also, while the tyres were being changed, a nearby puncture shop wala wanted the used front tyre. Despite having run 30k km, it wasn't in that bad a shape. Could've gone at least 10k km more. Got 300 bucks for it.
Altogether, 5200 for the pair. Perhaps, slightly overpaid. But then, everything is overpriced in Bangalore.

Too early to give feedback on the new pair. Outer Ring Road traffic was abnormally huge for saturday. However, it didn't skid a bit in the apartment parking lot (cement floor + lot of dust) where it usually did with the old set.

My consle diplay goes and then turns back on within few seconds while riding.
Engine keeps running just the meter display goes off and on.

Went to svc and the mechanic cleaned wiring plugs with petrol and tightened them and even checked the fuse.
      Still it is happening sometimes.

The battery terminals are the culprit. They must have become tarnished or maybe they are loose. In any case clean the two terminals and fix them back with a little Vaseline and your problem should be solved. Without the battery the engine can run and if your headlights are not battery dependent it will run. But the rest (meter, horn, accessories, etc) will not run. Also check and clean the terminals on the battery itself, maybe rub it a little to remove oxidation.

If that is so then only other possibility is that your key is old and rubbed out or your bike's key hole needs cleaning. That can cause this too.

Yes the bike is 5 years old and the key is the original one.
              Will get it changed soon.

Or just try using the second key you have to see if the key really is at fault.
Its cheaper than an unnecessary lock set change.

Changed the rear tyre from JC Road. The new MRF NV Series, 140/70-17. Was quoted 3800, got it fixed for 3600. Too early to comment, but will provide a detailed review in few weeks.

                    Cheerz!!
To be precise, Just 1 month and 7 days. And the oil flowed freely when drained.
I had to change it because I was not feeling the same as it felt with Motul. The roughness was there and it only increased when the oil heated up more. With Motul I knew once the oil heated up it would become smoother.

With Motul the gear shifts are not like consistently buttery smooth. But they were smooth enough that one would not even think about it during normal riding.
With Shell the shifts were sometimes smooth but would become worse as the oil heated up. And it was noticeable because you would normally expect it to shift but it wouldn't and then you have to release the clutch and try again.

                    Cheers!

There is a squeaking sound while riding under 40kmph. One i hit 40kmph, sound disappears. The sound is coming from the rear part. Even the mechanic couldn't find the exact problem as the squeaking noise is not permanent as it doesn't come everytime i ride below 40kmph. Anyone had similar problem? Why this happens?

And while switching my bike on, the console is not clear in the first place, then it becomes normal. This is also temporary. Any idea on both the problems i mentioned?

As to the squeak. I think it might be from the wheel or sprocket bearings. Happens when they are about to go. Not sure about it though as I can't physically examine the bike. Another possibility is that its coming from the shock absorber but that is only if the squeak is arrhythmic and only appears on rough roads.
As to the console. Is the console malfunctioning or just turning off? And do the other electricals work when this happens?

Sometimes the indicator doesnt work when i press the button. That is rare case. And about the console, i found it two weeks ago. The numbers wont be completely clear while switching the bike on....as on old casio digital watch. But it will be clear within a second.

I think your speedo is malfunctioning. get it to an svc or a computer repair place to get the internal board checked. I think there my be a conduction issue on the board.

                              • FZ-S acceleration help

                                Hello everyone. I own a Yamaha FZ-S. It's clocked about 13000 kms.

Recently, the bike is not accelerating in low speeds. More precisely, after going at high speeds (100-105 kmph) and when I immediately slow down to 40-50 kmph, the bike is choking. Like how it happens when petrol gets over. I don't understand the problem. If the same has been happening at high speeds, then it is a common problem and can be sorted out. But this is happening in low speeds and at times get switched off also. I have to use the kicker and with great effort only I can start the bike again.

I tried showing to 2 mechanics and after a test ride, they say they don't see any problem with the bike. I'm totally confused.

I live in Annanagar, chennai. Can anyone tell me what the problem is with the bike and help me sort it out?
Also, please do suggest a good mechanic for FZ-S in chennai.

                                Thank you so much.
