        • Hi All,

I have this peculiar problem with my new FZS and I have already posted about this in the forum but did not get any replies

I would just driven 5 mins from my home and the smell is coming from my FZ engine as if I had rough driven the bike for some 100 kms.I was very worried about this engine smell and went to SVC where the guy told me its normal for the engine smell to come and its common since the engine painting is in black.I was not satisfied with this answer and want the experts here to please answer this.

          Many thanks in advance

Its common with new bikes in run-in period. The smell is of burnt engine oil. Take it easy&ride according to the run-in instructions in the user manual. If the smell is too much, get the engine oil changed once at 500kms.

You just got smell. For my bike there was smoke coming out from engine also. It happened in first week only. Second day morning 7 am one splendour guy told me about that when I stopped my bike at signal.
Now no smoking, no weird smell.

Ah it's a common thing with the new bike buddy! Nothing to worry about it will be alright after your bike gets used to the condition of your riding and all so chill

dead cheap man ... where exactly did you find it ? in what kind of shop ?

@rkakkar : If possible take it to your SVC , they'll do it for you minus all the "tricks" of the other guys ... but yeah they'll be slightly more expensive , i paid about 125 bucks when i got mine repaired at the SVC .

Go around searching for a Yellow tyre hanging in your area. Most of them will have the tubless puncture kit. All of them are the same you can get it done anywhere. Charge is from 100 to 150 Rs.

Just take care that these puncture guys are too sharp, once I went to a nearby shop to my office (it was my first puncture). I had noticed a nail in the rear tyre. I did not remove it and went all the way to office as I did not know of puncture shops near my area in Mira Road. The guy took off the nail and fixed the puncture but just when I was not looking he made one more hole with that sharp tool used during puncture repair.
Also one more thing the strip of rubber they use when repairing puncture is approx 6-8 inches I believe. At some shops these guys make two out of one. This is wrong. A small strip wont stay out of the tyre as it is supposed to be. I've got two small strips into my tyre as failed puncture repair attempts.

Have a look at this D.I.Y , see the strip size in Step 5

okay ... dumb question but i'm just curious ... are these connected to the bike's batteries or do they have their own source ...?
