  • don't know if i should ask but are you folks satisfied with both performance and fuel efficiency of fz/fz-s/fazer?always thought that fz/fazer sells only because of its poser value as bhp figure doesn't scream performance and neither it offers respectable mileage although looks awesome and engine is gem

and the question remains why do i race?
every finishing line is the begining of a new race.

#i have learnt to manipulate my own adrenaline and the perception of biking is different.
    #overkill is underrated.
#how random roads may appear there is always a destination.sigpic
#i don't subscribe to co-incidence,either it is the rider or the other moron on the road

(:)people keeps on saying add spark to life, bajaj got hold of that idea and added an extra spark to bike.

2009 FZ. Getting 45-50 kmpl on an average, best clocking around 60 and worst around 30. but 45-50 80% time.

          • actually i am considering buying either fz/fazer or rtr.amongst fz and fazer most people suggesting fz but i am inclined towards fazer.i know the benefits of fz over fazer but i am under big dose of that semi fairing.

the fairing has a disadvantage if majority of your riding is in the city
the 2012 bikes gives more mileage than the older ones
              rest everything is the same
superb handeling and comfort riding position

The right handlebar vibration issue is slowly disappearing it seems. But am having a cling-cling sound from the centre stand when putting the bike on centre-stand. Maybe happening because the spring has some problems. But I kinda like the sound. Is it good or bad..

Nice clicks! Seems your bike is also equipped with Bybre brakes. How is braking of front brake?

                • The Fazer's front brakes have BYBRE written on it where as there is nothing written on FZ or FZ-S
Why is this is there a difference between both

                  • Hey everyone,

Just joined the forum, though I've been reading through it for a few months.
Proud owner of a black FZ16 since September

I've clocked about 2900 km and done with the 2nd free service.

Recently, to be specific, since two weeks, I've developed a bit of a problem. Everytime my fuel is over the reserve tank and into the main, I've had a problem of erratic acceleration. Its like, that feeling when you're running out of fuel in the main tank and your about to switch the reserve value, you feel the engine dying out and the revving dead. But the fuels fine. At first it happened only at speeds about 85. Now, its keeps happening any speed above 50. And funny thing is, it happens only in the main tank. Switch to reserve and Im fine.

Haven't gone anywhere to get it checked yet, anyone else had a problem like this?

                    Cheers

                      Hi,

                      I have Jan-12 model FZ-16.
I found the same issue with my bike. But when i switch to reserve the bike behavior is normal. But the petrol tank have sufficient fuel.

                      Regards

                        • 2nd Tyre Puncture

                          Hi all,

My FZ-X had the 2nd tire puncture today after clocking 17,600kms on the odo. It was a micro puncture almost at the edge of the tire hence, out of safety perimeter of the RIDE On Tire Protection Foam(The Ride-OnIndia Tire Protection System (?Ride-On TPS?)) i had installed earlier.

A two minute job and i was back on road in no time. I am indeed happy with the rear tire's life and have witnessed only two punctures so far(1st one at 10,500 kms if i remember it correctly!).
I will replace the leaking front shock next month. P.S.: is it recommended to replace both rubber seals when only one is leaking and the other one is alright??

FE: has been consistent 43-45 kmpl with my kind of riding.. mix thrash and sedate riding. Motul 300V Fully synth doing its job. Even after 3000+ kms with it, the colour of the oil is still golden and not a drop in the oil level. So guess, it should last till 5000-5500 kms till due of next oil change..

Guide For Noobs: If you are witnessing more than 2 psi drop of air pressure in your rear tire everday then the best way to detect a puncture is carry a painting brush and use soap/ shampoo lather and using the brush, spread it all across the rear tire. If there are consistent bubble formations from an area of the tire then you have hit the jackpot! Please do note that besides this there may be other factors also involved for losing tire pressure quickly..like bent rims or too much dust collection in the inner rim of the alloy mag wheel etc.

                          Cheers

thanks shv.... does it have to be lather??? or just soap water will do???

my bike's rear tyre is losing around 9-10psi in a week.... have tried a couple of times to locate the puncture or the bend rim, but not able to find any.... is it possible that the air is leaking from the tyre from the treads? the tyre is almost 20k kms old...

as long as you have lather, whether it is from soap/shampoo/washing powder.. doesn't matter.

so basically lather is required.... that will be a problem with normal soap or shampoo water... i guess will have to use washing powder then....
