On Top. Handling is simply superb. very stable and extremly good straight line handling. Great on ghats and highways.

    straight line handling .... ok
    is there another kinda handling
again pardon my ignorance if i sound stupid

Headlight is decent. Not that great but workable. New uni has definatly better Horns then the old one's/

what could be done to the headlight

I do understand buddy. I'm riding the first gen Uni (actually it was the second unicorn launched in UP) and still in love with it. And in no way i'm going to part my way with her. EVER/
    gr8 buddy

my height is a bit more than 5' 7''
    will it suit me ??
well Handling characteristics included many aspects of riding
Like how it handles on highway, City, curves/Ghat sections, Potholes, off roading etc

And regarding headlight you can switch to HID. But for that some work has to be done to the headlight assembly and wiring.

And Uni is quite a big bike and accoding to your height it's good. Uni perfectly suits the tall guyz.

I totally agree with sherry_unicornlover. I handles like a charm. No need to change the horn either, it's decent enough. I have a 2007 Uni, and still think, whenever I will change my bike, I will buy another uni. I too, often go for a long ride, with my wife as a pillion for 150+ kms, and it's really very comfortable for both rider and pillion. My wife used to complain about the pillion ride (after riding for 30+ kms), when we took a long ride on my Pulsar earlier, but now 80-90+ at a stretch, and still no complain from her . I am 5'10".

          • Sharing experience....

            sharing experience:

Form past few days i was getting problem of unsettled idle rpm ...sometimes engine revs goes above 1.7k and sometimes it gets even lower than 1k thus engine gets off... it was getting very difficult for me to drive in traffic conditions beacuse engine use to gets off on frequents basis...so i went to honda serivice station to get rid of this problem ... when the mechanic started its work i curiously stood besides him to see what he"ll do...first he adjusted the fuel supply it didnt work ...then he did some adjustments with the wires attached with acclerator it worked a bit but not complete satisfation then lastly he open up side cover covering the fuel supply box he made some adjustment to it....Then started reving the bike upto 10500-11000 Rpms...i coulnt believe my eyes because i had heard the rev meter wont allow engine to go past 9300 rpm's...in the curiosity i forgotten that was my bike which he was reving ..then bell rang in the mind and i controlled my emotions and said him to stop reving elsewise engine will get damage and probably piston will come out of engine if he conitnue any further ...he replied" nothing will whether you rev at 1000 or 10000"....since he was mechanic so i cant argue him in techical things and was just hopping that he wont end up ruining my bike engine....but after he has done the work when i drove the bike adding to my astonishment it was significantly smother then before and luckily the problem of rpm also solved...
so all is well that ends well....

              • Silver Unicorn on 1st august-09

                Hi all!!!
A COOL PLACE FOR BIKERS M NEW HERE AND ENJOYING...
Bought the wing(lodha motors chennai) after test riding RTR FI and GS150R.
The CBZ people dint allow me for a test ride on highway so opted it out of the list. My friend owns a 150 pulsar with all the gadgets and still didnt please me to think about it.

I owned a RX135 earlier and very old cd100 (the japanese import). After being with these machines wanted to have something with cd 100 smoothnes-mileage and rx135 handling-power . Unicorn was a perfect blend of both (tho mileage traded with power).

The RTR dint have the posture and comfort I expected and GS150 was new and also heard lots of complains from threads, so the choice was uni

Was very much attracted to gs150 6th gear. The first 5 gears reacted similar to uni. the 6th was a gear to cruise saving both engine-piston wear and mileage and also adds smoothnes in top speed (thats my assumption correct me if wrong). GS was priced 3k more than uni but was inclined to GS till the last minute.
The uni lovers love from xbhp threads helped me in the choice.

Been riding the wing past 10days and my experience goes this way...
-The ride was smooth (as mentioned by many in previous postS)
-The suspension was a lot different(hard) from the one given for test ride(old 2nd or 3rd gen). Hope it softens over time (any comments-but not about adjusting the suspension to hard-medium-soft)
-with a heavy pillion(115kg and myself 80kg) the centre stand hits speed-breakers.
-The handle bar feels a little tight when turning towards the right ( is it ok with a factory delivered bike?)
-changed the gear shift lever to toe-heel(from dealer for rs150/-) but the heel part seems to be very close to the gear box assembly and worried about the heat there.
                - very much comfortable with the handle bar length but the sitting posture was much better in GS150.
-Head lights initially felt inadequate. The high beam directly hits the lorry driver's eyes (A little more powerful light should be useful here). Previous posts suggested 55/60watt light than 100watt. point noted.
-FE it ranged between 51-55 over the first 3litres(been reading the thread past few days and I saw a post commenting on discussions about FE - Personally I keep checking the FE every time with my old bikes and it helps me indicate the health of the machine and also helps me identify a reliable fuel pump)
-will shortly post about my run-in (followed as suggested by rant space-guruswamy and moto-man but dont know how long shud i follow this. please advise. The method is working for me and FE was as mentioned earlier)

change your suspension setting to soft or medium...
it must be hard at the moment

for handle tightness towards the right ... take the bike to the SC
they ll see whats the problem

                    Thanks for the reply.
will surely contact the SC for handle tightness.

Forgot to add a few more things that I noticed ..
-Breaks were perfect very similar to my RX and handling while braking was excellent and confident. Rear breaks in GS150 was not as good as uni - mean to say uni braking better than GS150
-After clocking 250KM on my ODO I m able to hear noises from the chain gaurd. Does it get loose so early? or is it due to the moto-man's run(break) in method I followed (taken the bike to 9K rpm in 3rd gear and 2nd gear and as some one said its tempting me to do that often)...?
                    - The horn is loud enough and very sharp.
                    - the stock tyres are MRF ZAPPER and adds confidence while cornering.
                    - changed the engine oil after 350 km (HONDA OIL FROM SHOWROOM) since I felt roughness from the gear assembly. I asked the SC people to change the oil but they refused saying that I might start skipping engine oil change during the service schedules.

About the run-in I followed (please correct me)
                    I followed the controversial Motoman's break-in method.
Have taken uni upto 9k(the red mark) rpm in 2nd and 3rd gear.
Not sure whether I can take beyond that but the machine seems to be ready for more than that and it never feels strained.
How long should I follow the break-in(I have already clocked 450 on the odo)
Now the engine is very smooth till 4k beyond that the vibrations are noticeable but bareable. Beyond 4k the vibrations are similar to my rx135 (mine was very smooth) and I get 51-55 FE in uni.
Is the vibration normal or will subsidise (smoother) over time?

                    • sai if you have already followed motoman method
then be at peace with it

why are you asking it is correct or not
you should have probably done so earlier

now if anyone comments in a good way... ur happy
but if not u get a heart attack
so i guess people including me chose to be remain quite

now relax n enjoy the ride
Hope is a good thing ,

                      • The trouble

last 2 litres has returned me 46 and 47 kmpl (51-55 previously) and I can feel (little) vibration (now after 3k rpm) on my foot rest. Does that mean the cylinder wall profile is bad or is it from the gear box assembly...???
is the mileage difference justified if I dint cog the top gear and if it was a city commute...?
                        and what about the roughness...???

when did you last change the engine oil?For the vibration, check all the engine foundation bolts, cause loose bolts cause vibes to creep.

Sometimes it may happen due to filling of bad quality of petrol ...atleast it happend in my case( petrol of one station was inferior to other)...my mileage drops by 3-4 kmpl and little drops in performance was visiblle...now i fill the petrol only from the other petrol pump which provides good quality and i get consitent mileage of 52-55kmpl...

i had this roughness whenever i crossed 65Km/hr after that even at 90Km/hr the ride ws smooth i did not give it much thought but as soon as i switched to MOTUL 5W 40 300V synthetic oil the roughness @65Km/hr vanished. My Xtreme became a uni.I am in love with this oil .
