My rear tyre was loosing pressure very rapidly. it's 10k old and almost worn out. It had meat left for about 5k. I shot a mail to HMSI regarding rapid loss in the tyre pressure. I got a call from HMSI and they gave me a number to get my tyre replaced. They told me that wear and tear amount will be deducted. I called up that number. They inspected my tyre and replaced that but i had to pay 50% ie 1200. So the cost of the rear tyre is 2400.
And BTW these continental tyres are manufactured in india by metro tyres who specializes in manufacturing cycle rickshaw tyre

My rear tyre has some small cracks on it. Will try to post pics here. Dont know if it qualifies for a replacement but i was worried about it all the way in my 200kms ride as i just saw them before the ride. Any such number for mumbai? Will try asking the ASC to inspect but i dont think they will take it any seriously. They believe that as long as the bike isnt rideable, there is nothing wrong.Originally posted by Mail2vasant View PostMy rear tyre was loosing pressure very rapidly. it's 10k old and almost worn out. How old is your bike. I suggest you to write a mail to HMSI. I think it qualifies for a replacement.Originally posted by MeTaL_MaNiaC View PostMy rear tyre has some small cracks on it. sad to hear.
you can survive with a compatible brake lever if you dont find the same. But handlebar? Cant say about availabilty and cost but what happend to the handlebar? Was the impact so strong? And other damage to the bike? I am wondering how handlebar got damaged by a car hit and no other damage?
A similar incident took place with me as aargee's accident few days ago. This was with a rickshaw. I was on my way back from nasik to mumbai, and near ghoti, i was going downhill at about 125kmph. From a well long distance, i saw two rickshaws join the two lane highway and the were both in the second lane and going one behind other for sometime. I being in first lane did not slow down then. As i went closer, suddenly the second rickshaw shifted to the first lane and by this time i was dangerously close at quiet a high speed. I continously pressed the horn and high beam pass switch but that dint seem to bother him. No signs, no indications by him
i braked with all my skill and the bike fish tailed a lot (rear brake pads are still new,so maybe) but i somehow managed to just touch the rickshaw with front tyre and no other drama. I overtook him immediately and asked him to halt at side. The normal sized rickshaw had around 10 people seated
with some almost out from the sides. I gave him a good piece of mind to which he replied, "Galti hogayi sahaab, aage se nahi hoga!" to which i was like, "will i be riding behind your rickshaw everytime to wait for a next time?
". I was lucky that there was no vehicle behind me.
I always feel that people on the highways underestimate the speed a "BIKE" can be on and take wrong decisions causing such incidents.
Thank you Vasant. My bike is now 7months old and clocked around 5.4k kms. Will try the mail. If no reply, then will call the regional office.Originally posted by Mail2vasant View PostHow old is your bike. I suggest you to write a mail to HMSI. I think it qualifies for a replacement.

Kishoremuthu and Binoy, if I remember correctly, went for a replacement tyre.Originally posted by MeTaL_MaNiaC View PostThank you Vasant. My bike is now 7months old and clocked around 5.4k kms. well a few guys from our bangalore group had the same problem. they contacted their dealership and dealership talked to continental and got them to agree to replace the tyres. but be prepared to run around on your own. but the good news is they r replacing the tyres.
gud luck

Good you are safe. Ghodbunder is 1 of the most accident prone site. Be carefull when riding there. I have seen a lot of horrible accidents happen with my own eyes.Originally posted by MeTaL_MaNiaC View Post

! more word of advice. always be on the toes when you see a state transport bus, dogs, children & autos
. You never know what they might come up with at any given time.
