The ride was incredibly boring, though, and I only did it to check the performance of the engine, since my running in was against the advice of many of my peers, who assured me that my engine would get screwed if I take it above 5k rpm during running in. I demolished that myth when I got that mileage in 2013, 2014, and a top speed of 154 kmph in a 2015 trial.

With 29 psi, i am getting consistantly 32-38 kmpl in mixed highway/city ride...(speed around 60-85)
If u hv tested successfully with increased tyre pressure, then i will do it for my next round of milage check.

This is way too much man!!! 49.7kmpl. [MENTION=58594]leech[/MENTION], sorry to doubt you, but I haven't seen figures go past 36-38kmpl in my case and neither I have heard from my friends who own this machine.
And at 4k rpm you are actually lugging the engine!!!
Increasing the tire pressure will make the ride more bumpy and you will beg for your arse even though the suspension is plush and early wear of the tire is guaranteed.

With 29 & 32psi respectively, the best mileage i was able to extract was 40kmpl while cruising in 80-85km/hr for some 200kms highway and 60kms city. Rather than that crusing at speeds of 100-110km/hr i always get around 36kmpl. Recently after upsizing the rear to 150/60 it has gone down to 33kmpl highways & 28-30kmpl in city.

Doesnt removing the airfilter cover makes the airfilter more dirty as more dirt gets in than usual? Seriously, am lost for words. May be your ceeber is one of a kind. I wouldn't risk taking the cover off the air filter. It would probably allow more dust into the air filter clogging it n thereby reducing the air flow to the engine, this would result in straining the engine. thats kind of FE is amazing and can be achieved.. i have personally seen 44kmpl a cpl of times with strict control over wrist and keeping it between 70-85kmph for long distances.
coming to tyre pressure- extreme air pressure will not only reduce contact patch of the tyre but also aggrevate the rate of wear and tear and you run at a risk of busrting a tyre doing high speeds.
air filter cover : its just the cover they use to remove and reinstall air filter. the bikes sounds loud ( good/bad is personal ). as of more dust entering inside.. the filter is designed to keep dust out. some extra air wont do any harm.. however ... however.... due to air filter removal there is a slight gain in low end torque but machine runs very flat post 6000 rpm. same has been tested by a known friend on a dyno. i removed it and put it back. could not bear my head buzzing for 600+ km's.
i get an average of 34 km in city and about 36 odd on highways with speeds between 80-110."A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel."

So what do you suggest? Is taking the cover off safe? How safe in the long run? And why does it run flat post 6k rpm? More air=better breathing = enhanced performance, is this not what even the fancy air filters do? its safe to take it off but performance gains NIL...
why does it run flat ??
when install custom filters with more airflow to utilize you need to upjet (carb) and FFE to utilize it properly.
coming to CBR keeping same exhaust and ECU not relaly using more air flow. its pointless. infact the roll on acceleration drops drastically post 80kmph in top gear with filter removed. tried and tested multiple times..
if you like it loud to putter around its fine not recommended for highway where we need spot on rolling acceleration and a machine thats not buzzing the head..."A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel."

Just the cover, not the airfilter!!
The paddock stand is similar to that of the HONDa's paddock stand use to mount the bike while servicing.
The stand from Honda is a single piece and the one which I got fabricated is made up of 4-5 iron rods, but they are strong enough for chain lubrication and bike washing activity. I have been using the same since 7-8 months now. Will post the pic tomorrow.

Lol thanks, it was a bunch of other CBR owners, this bike has taught me a lot about how to handle n take care of a bike, cause I used to own a unicorn which I still own which seized because I didn't service n engine oil dried up and I used to abuse the bike , like open it up all the time, the CBR has taught me to be calmer on the road, n take care of the bike better, I do enjoy the very occasional speed run but its below 6000 or 7000rpm for the most part. Even when I ride normally I feel like I can get a better mileage but I always ride my bike in a very mixed manner , not always fast, not always slow, but in betweenOriginally posted by aargee View PostGood, fantastic; no better way to break the engine!! Dont try the mileage test when you're sleepy, please. I fell asleep multiple times during that trial, and woke up to find my bike headed towards the guard rail, or some car honking behind me.
About the tyre, yes, despite all the abuse, and running at 10 psi for 3-4 months, my rear tyre lasted till 23000 kms. That's why I personally prefer Contigo. [emoji23]Last edited by leech; 01-21-2016, 02:15 AM.
