  • Guys, this is an ownership thread not a review thread..Please stop comparing R15 vs CBR and CBR vs Ninja. Many would agree that R15 has got superior handling than the cbr and may be the ninja too and about the acceleration part, the R15 feels out of power at low rpms, the torque is not there and on the other hand the cbr just flies off.And don't compare that CBR has got ABS and Ninja don't have that option. So what,Ninja still remains the best 250cc bike in the world and sells after many decades.

Man, your quotes were as funny as Raju Srivastav. I am sure, Mr. Somen is not appearing on this thread again.

      To all standard CBR owners,
I want to know how bad rear tire skids during sudden braking? A tire change will solve this problem? Has anybody tried those mechanical ABS products? There were available for 3K I guess. And if that can help bike from avoiding skids, I will seriously consider STD over ABS

      • CBR..Experience!!

Well again its apersonal opinion, i have tested cbr for around 2 days(friend's) and found a very decent package in 1.53 lacks Ex-showroom Gurgaon, But the only issue i have faced was riding posture, its good and extremely sporty but not decent for roads in gurgaon believe me folks, gurgaon has pathetic roads. I have serious issues with backbone instead i love touring on my bike, and agin not in love with Avenger so finally going to opt for the only option left Pulsar 220 9as i love sports bikes) which is not that much bad in terms of sitting posture..

I will seriously regret, for missing the darling CBR. !!!

        • I don't think CBR's riding posture is that aggressive bro-you will get used to it in a couple of days' time.
Trust me on this, I ride an R15 which has the most lean in Indian bikes. I don't have a problem with it even on touring.

          • ^^ Sitting posture isn't a problem. You get used to it.
Besides having ridden on some of the worst roads (or no roads) I encountered yesterday on a 400 kms ride, I can safely say that the P220 will not be able to handle bad roads as well as the CBR thanks to its soft suspensions.

You should ideally try changing your position every now and then, to keep pain away from your body parts.
I seriously urge you to reconsider your decision of buying a P220.

Bro CBR seating posture is not at all that bad as you are saying. I have ridden it for close to 4000km in a span of 6 days(Actually in 4 days) and it was fine, just matter of getting used to it. I had a Pulsar 220 before the mini Ceeber and believe me for touring 220 stands far away as far as crusing comfort and ease of maintaining speed stands, just keep changing posture and she is wonderful.
Apart from above the quality and peace of mind a HONDA offers as of today cannot be questioned.

Dont take Ceeber out of fray when taking your final decission of buying. Final decission of course will be yours.
              Happy Riding.

              • Sitting posture needs to be learned on C250R; ask or pm TrustVishwas Ji, he explains clearly as how one needs to sit on sports bike & ride.

                • I just don't understand why the tappets go loose after like 3-4K kms. This is the second time I am getting them bloody shims over the rocker arms in like 8K total kms! Each shim costs 250 and atleast 4 would be required to get things in place. I mean an engine that has won 19 out of 21 patents, is considered to be the best single cylinder there is in India, has such issues, feels heart-breaking! Ok, I took it to Leh, so what? Tappets should not go anywhere till atleast 25K. My CBZ has done over 60K and not once have I got the tappets adjusted except when I got the kit replaced...Painful rants of an over-enthusiastic CBR250R rider..

Moreover, the disc pads have ceased to exist (both front and rear) in just 7.5k kms. And they cost like 1500 a pair.

This service is going to cost me a bomb!

Something wrong kurtrules!!! You wanna hear this side of the story? My second engine has clocked over 9.5K kms without even opening the head cover (forget alone the clearance) & there has been no tappet noise

25K!!! Serious? I've been told by a former member of this forum that, IF, the shims were made out of titanium, they should last for over 20K without touching it!!!

Front, yeah, I'm sure mine also needs to be replaced in the same time frame; not sure though, but I'm waiting for the sprockets & rubber bush kits to carry over 3rd service.

Maybe those fools at the SVC are not measuring the clearances properly! Last time I fought with the guy at Honda and got them changed for free. This time though, I think I would have to get them done from my own hard earned money!

When I took it to Leh, I literally tested it to the hilt. Good/bad/worse and pathetic roads...potholes, deep ones, stones rocks etc...rode non-stop 33 hours...maybe then..perhaps they would have come loose so early..though they not supposed to!

Whatever the case, it is very annoying. I left it there today and would get it tomorrow evening!

Get them changed asap. Else they would start scratching the disc before u realize!

disc pad I guess are manufatured in remote parts of africa as with other honda spares so not their fault that it takes foreover for materials to be arranged.
my svc went ahead & enquired all hero bikes pads & even checked to see if they fit
the clutch lever nut fell off in the middle of the road (probably due to vibrations) & I had to go to hero for it since honda doesn't keep those either
all in all my frustrations have given way to amusement but dunno how long am gonna continue with this bullshit

                            • I can understand your pain! There are vibrations in mine as well, but not that noticeable. I guess they have made this bike to be ridden in cities only..wax it up...cut through traffic...maybe have a photo-shoot or two

Out of 8k, 6k have been on tours...I am still waiting for the the tag "sports tourer" to justify itself!

During the C250R training, these buggers are given a sheet of paper & they've been asked to fill in 4 details...
                                1. Current clearance
                                2. Current shim sizes (4 values, namely, right & left inlet + right & left outlet)
                                3. Changed shim sizes (4 values)
                                4. Clearance level after the new shim's are replaced

Be with them or ask them to show this report once they've completed the job; atleast this was done on mine when my first engine went kaput!!!

May be you didn't; but I bet there should've been tappet noise much earlier for sure. 60K without tappet adjustment...I seriously doubt even if R1 can withstand
