  • Guys did anyone tried doing servicing in Aims Yamaha,Thane.....I just went there for oil change and chain lubing....I was amazed to see that they had charged me 470 instead of 505 (Charged me in the first servicing by Ganesh Enterprises). Did anyone else noticed that...

Take it up with Yamaha folks. I was charged around 400 bucks for the labor, rest was all the stuff he used.
I don't have a bill with specific details as I know the mech. So, he does things and gives me a lump sump total which am acceptable to given his commitment.

I guess we are running out of SVCs in Pune, with free<lol> services over, need to find a good mech outside now.

Yes! I was their obedient customer for the 1st 3 servicings, then moved to Pune. I too noticed the change in price, but didn't they add taxes after that though I don't remember clearly.
As here I could see the taxes are only on Labour charges not on any parts. So that might be the dfference.

I guess they did a fair job in case of the basic servicing, but the 'extra' ones are too much.
Lets see what Yamaha thinks :P

                  • As I dont have manual yet, can anyone post what do the indications on console mean?

Yesterday I drove home my friends cbr250r from showroom. Everytime I used to switch on the engine kill switch, an orange coloured indication appeared on the console and went away in 2 seconds. I found the same symbol on my R15 v2, but it never lites up when I switch on the engine kill switch. Can someone put some light on my doubt. I will be getting the manual with registration on next monday

                    Happy Diwali to all Xbhpians.

Thats because no connection is there for that light to the engine kill switch. Its directly to the ignition. Bikes like P220 Fi and C250R is connected to the kill switch .

                          The labour charges:
                          Steering Bearings lubrication: 300
                          Fork oil replacement: 360
                          Wheel bearings lubrication(front): 150
                          Wheel bearings lubrication(rear): 120
                          Swingarm lubrication: 200

                          Total of spares: 1320
Total of labour: 1130-------------------And that's for a free servicing as whatever the tasks were done, nothing was a 'special' request, everything is mentioned in the Manual.
                          Serv Tax 12.36%: 139.67

                          Then Spark Plug (Plug+Cap assy): 85+76= 161

                          Net Amount: 2751/-

If any one else also done with 5th servicing, please post the details.
Mate Thats sheer looting, Kamla Yamaha being the most expensive one in Mumbai charges you 300 labour+350 service charges=650 and that too when they do major major work. They are by far the best SVC i have come across and have been servicing my FZ since the last 2+ years never had to visit a local mechanic as they have always been lightning fast with sorting out my issues..

                          Cheers,

Its simple physics my friend. what you said is normal. happened to me too. the bike has got power so it will happen. The concept of 'Grip' is misunderstood by many guys, especially guys new to performance oriented bikes.

other guys, if i am wrong anywhere then lemme know. what i said was out of my experience with my bike. have been through various situations on it and many experiments done

                            Let me explain.

When you are going into a corner\in a corner\ coming out, your bike is having a lean angle and the weight of the motorcycle is more on the front Tyre.
When your bike is standing up (90 Degree) and you open the throttle completely and the weight goes to the back wheel. Most of the time this will give you a good acceleration and a wheelee if you are too quick with the clutch.

                            In your case,

You must have been coming out of the corner, so you have lean angle, and the front shock absorber is compressed. --> We all feel the weight to come forward, to the front Tyre.
Now the back Tyre has all reason to spin. Doesn't it? >> It's in an angle, it has less weight on it, and you opened the throttle a bit more.

I purposefully spin my back wheel like this for fun, it gives you more and more control/confidence as days pass.

So Karthik, i would suggest you to do it more often,

Now please don't say this was not in the Manual.

On tank it says "Read the Manual before operating"
It doesn't say "read the manual every time you operate"
Or "Only Read the Manual before operating"

                            • For avoiding rear wheel spin, just be gentle with the throttle. (Initially) Once you feel that the power is transferring to the rear wheel (that it is not spinning or sliding) you can wide open the throttle.
