Welcome to the RnD club. 55 + 55 w would consume close to 5 amp current. Thus we are just on edge.
Swtiching the pilot lamps and tail lamp to LED might help here.

But this experiment is expensive and some suggested it might burn of relay <i have no clue on that>.
Have to get Tyres replaced soon, so not in a hurry to do any mods right now.

I guess, that Osram blue one is a stable option for now. Not a bad deal for 500 bucks plus some change from that 'yellow' light.

Is there a specific reason for Yamaha to make it only lit one at a time on dim(like battery saving or so) or just the typical 'R' series DNA is carried over?
Actually this makes sure that oncoming people arent blinded.Hence, in India its the left lamp which comes on on the low beam.In other countries with right sided traffic, the right headlamp is engaged.

Hmm.. ok.. I thought of lightning the right 'eye' during dim , but that too got scrapped later.. This is how I tried it ..

        • @Ivin : Can you please post a short review of the Osram's describing improvement in lighting, pics of high and low beams at night, effect on battery, heating effects etc?
I may be asking a lot here but this seems to be a pretty easy and pocket friendly upgrade for those of us not looking at a projector/HID setup and is on my list of to-do mods.

            • Having a blast on my bike lately, loving the revs. I think the engine has opened up quite a bit and has no problems in functioning, have seen a rise in mileage, delivering around 40-41 kmpl. Most of the riding is in city and under 6,000rpms, well thats fast in city to be precise. Stryker is soooo smooth...

Will be going for those white light upgrade which Ivin mentioned, lets see next mid month, hoping for the best.

                  • Is it fine to install Projectors and HIDs after the first service? My Baby is brand new just completed 500kms. Is our battery capable enough for HID? I have seen people having it but should we have to change the batteries or the stock is potent enough??

I say stick to stock. If yamaha had specifically decided to put a specific design and compound tyre , there should be a reason. Even then if you want a 100/80 then R15 v1 rear tyre it is. But sure handling will be effected.

Changing lights are your choice. But any alteration on the wiring will endanger your bikes warranty. And usually a 3.5A battery is not used for projector purposes, but a 5A one may well do the job. Most of them out there puts projectors without changing the battery. The problem is you will have to change your battery way too often.

Thats great. And yeah you do ride a lot; I envy you.

Surprisingly, after the 4th service at an embarrassing 3900 kms, even I'm feeling the harshness in the engine. She growls louder, but doesn't sound happy like earlier. Guess there is some problem, especially at 5- 5.K RPM, there's a weird sound.
Perhaps, not riding is the problem.

Oh yes, weighing 90+, attaining 132 kmph, that too~ sitting upright with tornado crosswinds, feels satisfactory.

                          Got the following done:
                          1. Engine oil and oil filter changed. Went for Yamalube SS this time, will switch back to Shell at the next service.
                          2. Spark plug changed.
                          3. Swingarm, coneset and wheel bearings greased.
                          4. Fork Oil changed.

My air filter was changed a little earlier so did not change it at this service.

Overall, very happy with the service, the bike feels much more smoother, a touch quicker and more tightly coupled.
Breakup of costs is as below: (Dont have the invoice in front of me, I am quoting to the best of what I can remember)

                          Engine Oil 420
                          Oil Filter 150
                          Fork Oil 50
                          Spark plug 127
                          Consumables 50
                          VAT @ 14% 111.58
                          Labour:
                          Fork Oil change 150
                          Swingarm grease 250
                          Service tax @ 10% 40
                          Total 1349
Whoa! Thats a lot of riding.
Wonder, if the price of oil and oil filter is correct. The new price of Yamalube SS is INR 505, and Oil filter is INR 167 here.

I think, its more about the battery. Oncoming traffic will be blinded more on high beam, when both the lights are on.

                          • Had went for the Osram @Ivin bought, but they offered a Philips alternate as well.
As there wasn't any difference in price, so bought them instead.

Will get them installed soon. Lets see what happens.

Actually, it is not supposed for riders and drivers alike to use the high beam when there is on coming traffic. The high beam is only indicated when the road is empty and as an indicator for overtaking maneuvers..

Thanks, actualy i have seen that the bikes with big front tyre looks more sporty and heavy,
R125 also contains the 100/80 front tyre and many of other. they realy look better if we compair only the front looks
R15 v2 front tyre looks little small to me.
perillie has 100/80 front tyre but dn t know the price.
