I have been following the 200NS and R15v2’s thread from quite a while now. Earlier I was in the mood to purchase P200NS but after reading the user reviews and the N number of problems associated with the bike, I thought of going for R15.
However, I have some queries & I will be thankful to you all if you could clarify the same:

    1. Whats with the problem associated with the front forks? What is the solution for it??
    2. Is there a color fading issue around the tank region??
    3. Will the maintenance cost increase by a huge margin after 2 years?
    4. Is there a mileage drop after a year or two??
    5. After these crappy 2013 color launch( no offence, I didn't like it personally), will the 2012 colors like sunset red and all be still available?
    1. What issue are you referring to exacctly? There is no common issue being faced by us w.r.t. front forks.
    2. None reported by any one here so far.
    3. Will have to wait for 2 years of ownership to comment on that. As per my view, maintenance would definitely increase, but not by a HUGE margin.
    4. Nominal reduction in mileage is going to happen with any bike you get.
    5. No

Din't face anything related to front fork it's over 2.5 yrs+.

Still same answer, I din't see any color fade on my bike's tank. It's very negligible as per years.

Unless you bash your bike on some potholes badly or meet with some accident.

There will be a normal Services only.

Getting same average as per riding style 36-42kmpl.

This depends on the showroom if they still have the colors with them. But it's better you book it soon to have more chances of getting it.

        just to share
i usualy go above 9k rpm when i want to ride hard.
do you think that is gonna make any trouble for my Baby.

Yesterday a pulsor 220 with all riding gears and a nice helmet came across me at wardha road which is very nice with littile traffic and i was on my way from college to room,
we were beside each other and he was accelerating the bike as if he is standing for "Go".
he asked me to have a race, i thought to declined the challenge, but as my baby is new and did with first service, though this is the time when i want to feel myself proud.
i was little scared first coz he seems to be an professional rider and i was without my riding gears, even not with helmet.

"FIR KYA THA, punjabi ko challenge kara, aise he thodi na jane dunga"

        I said yes,
i went to 10k rpm on first gear, and so on with all 9k rpm.
their was not a time when he touched me.
he was a nice rider as i can hear boom sound which comes from exhaust of pulsor 220."Silver silencer"
we did 4.5 to 5km race, finaly i have to move left to my home, and he went with raising his hand claiming a nice race.

        i went till 135kmh.

        Loved the race.

Sry guys as i was without gears.
i know that is for me and sry wont work.
Utter stupidness. (hate me if you like for saying that) city not at all good. i dont even remember the last time i touched 100 and crossed 80 atleast! did you even understand that, the 220 guy was riding keeping the city traffic in mind and you just zipping through everywhere.
I totally agree with eshan +1

First i want to say is that you cannot predict if you will face any kind of problems with a product or not unless you buy it and try it. that said here is reply for you from me though 3 guys have already told.
        1. its not a problem. it the sound of wires rubbing against each other when you go on hump.
        2. no colour fading. there have been paint peeling off issue in few R15. not a problem with all bikes again. i have it in mine. i am not worried though. its a bike after all. cant really stay like that forever, but yes felt bad that it happened.
        3. again its the same for al bikes. for r15 you may pay few 100's extra because its a premium bike and also so is P200ns. after certain thousands kms or years parts need to be replaced so you ll have to pay no matter which bike.
        4. again depends on usage and the way you ride and maintain. its totally on you!
        5. they are no so bad as you day. atleast the blue, black and black n green are good. the previous models are still available as they are clearing stocks, so grab them soon. the 2013 will be available by month end!
The bike you gonna buy will be your choice, so choose wisely, because after those 2 years it will reflect your maintenance and care you took towards your bike.

Your sitting posture also contributes for the bike to sway on one side.

Hope this helps. Good luck buddy.

Second, eshan is right. sitting position will affect the ride. also check the forks, see if any crack, oil leak is there. the sound you telling is common, its the wires rubbing against each other. Thought its better to tell it there then PM.
Thank you Both of You..... Its not The squeaking sound of the suspension...Tats different sound I love that sound. This one started just yesterday. So went to SVC and Its the Metal Clip thats holding the speedo cable, making the noise..It touched the Moving part of forks everytime i turn and sometimes it gets struck too bad and tats the reason why my bike swayed to one side. they fixed it in a minute..

Btw took My bike for a 50 Km Ride...Oh Boy!! oh Boy!!...Cant tell how fun it was to drive my babe. Cornering was so precise and it gave me more confidence to corner it hard... And Ppl on roads Keep on tempting me to Push My babe hard..But i controlled myself and kept her under 5k rpm.. Cant wait For the Run-In period to Get over

            • Eshan oil has been replaced at 950kms and now its 1833kms on ODO. I dont think oil should be replaced now, though I see its somewhat dark. Checked the oil level. Its fine.

I rode at 50kmph for the first 5 odd kms and then opened up the machine, maybe as you said the engine wasnt warm enough.

Do you guys hear some tock tock sound from the engine between 5k to 6k rpm while wearing a helmet? When I remove my Ls2, the sound is not that pronounced as it does when helmet is on.

To be precise on the description of sound, it sounds something similar when we suddenly accerelate our bike from low speed at high gears. I hope you got what I want to say

Never ever shift at 8k early morning at least for some 3-5kms. Early morning the engine is cold and it takes time for lubrication to heat up and provide its effects. Go slow first, get the bike heated up, even the tires for that matter. Once you have warmed up the engine then have revs over 6k. Crosswinds do affect top speed, one of the contributors for not reaching that fast.

              • Hey guys,

If i put in K&N RC-1200 air filter (RC-1200 - K&N Universal Air Filters, Universal Chrome Filter direct from K&N) in front of the pipe inside the air box, then also have the OEM filter, would that effect my engine. The only reason i am doing this is because i love the roar K&N gives but hate what it does to engine from past experiences.

The idea is to get roar from K&N without affecting the amount of air that goes in as OEM filter is still there .Can i do this just for the roar without effecting my engine or performance ??

Went in for 2nd service center today. They said that my AIS was not working properly, that is why i was getting wierd sounds when bike was cold and probably some pick up loss. It is under warranty but they can only order part after 5th Jan. They said it won`t effect anything. Just wanting to check you you guys, weather i should continue riding my bike (100 km/ week) or should i avoid riding it t ill the system is changed.

Also, after service , he changed oil, and once we started bike, there was white smoke comming out of exhaust. He said its because of the oil change, Is that normal ?
                Any info on this ?

Are you sure, because have read in many magazines against it. The logic is , the sticky material penetrates the lid thus breaking its integrity..

Re-Set trip-meter 2 to 0 reading when you hit reserve. Fill up petrol for Rs x. Let`s suppose you travel y kilometers when you hit reserve next time. Now do the maths as below :
                      ( y * current fuel price)/x

This is what I was referring to :

I think the problem is normal and not a problem anymore. As in, it is okay if they are sounding that way, completely fine. No need to worry on that, As a precautionary measure please conduct this small test when you have free time and daylight is available.

                        Check the front forks -
                        1) Check if there are any scratches, mind you not those type which have carving type structure, check if there smooth rubbed type scratches, something like brushed metal effect ones.
                        2) Why in daylight - they will shine with bit of golden color in them...All chrome right, somewhere goldenish color with brushed metal type effect.

If such type of marks are there then please head to SVC and get the inner tubes replaced, they are bent. Expect fork oil seal to go kaput in few kms and not days, this is the first symptom.

They should replace it in warranty at any cost, if not, call up customer care.

Still they don't agree then -
                        1) Pay for new part and get it replaced, the more you ride on bent forks the more damage to chassis, your arms, disc brakes, stability, eventually ending with danger.

                        or
                        2) Head to welding shop, they will have the bench-press machine, this is how they straighten out bent fork tubes. This will be relatively cheap compared to first alternative. Pressure is applied to the tubes in straight line, MM of curvature is rectified in this process, so expect them to be new at the end of the procedure.

We are taking about silver tubes the inner ones.

Yes, that's normal. But again if you feel its disturbing then head to SVC, get the mech to sit behind you for a TR, explain him the noise when it arises. No need for oil change, go according schedule and till now your perfect.

No problem at all, the sticker will simply tear after facing abrasion on tarmac leaving the fiberglass shell naked to absorb impact.

Go to petrol pump reset any trip X to "0"kms and full tank it. Later ride the bike say to some 150-200 kms or 2-4days as per use and full tank it again. Now note the numbers of liter went in your tank while refueling it. Now calculate the Kms on trip meter against the no of liters you refilled while refueling! You will get the average of your bike.

But here there are some constraints which you have to look:
                              1. If you vary the speed then you will get a mix average.
                              2. So you have to be on either on your ripper mode or on your comfortable riding mode.

These ways you can get an average for ripping and normal riding. It's better you try one by one instead of mix riding!!
