Hello everyone. I got my bike on 27th March, but it has done only around 350 kms till date. First service was done at around 240 kms and after the oil change i could feel some improvement in the overall smoothness. Today, in the morning i noticed rust on two screws around the console area. I've heard other people complaining about nuts and screws getting rusted on new R15s, but i thought that this issue had been ironed out.. My bike has never got wet in the rain and the only time it has been washed, was during the first service.. Can i get those screws replaced from the service centre for free?

A couple of things more: Is the sound of the fuel pump audible, in silent areas and at low speeds or is it just my bike which has a loud fuel pump? :P
Around how many more kms would it take for the burning smell to go completely? The smell has reduced a little of late.
I hopefully am doing a proper run-in. Never went above 5k revs. Can you please tell me the optimum shifting range for each gear, so that i do not end up lugging the engine (of course below 5k RPM :P)? I usually shift at around 3.5k - 4k RPM.. Is it ok??

    Please help..

    Thanks in advance!

now you might be thinking: yeah! that what i want, i wanna go racing on the street. well, the thing is racing or track riding has different requirements than street riding.

for street riding you want something thats reliable, meets noise regulations (you don't want to annoy other people on the road), low maintainance etc. on the race track the only thing that matters is lap time. unless you are an expert rider well versed with bike mechanics i would suggest keeping the bike stock.
BTW, the K&N thing is bullshit, its generally bought by people who don't have a clue.

      +1 dude. exactly the point.

Yamaha guys will install it for you..the daytona one.
Yes, that's absolutely fine about the rpm range while changing the gear. But if you want to achieve the top speed, then shift around 10K rpm.

You don't get anything for free(until and unless it costs ~10 bucks provided you've good rappo with them). But it's a fact that the parts quality of V2 is worse than that of V1. I got rusted disc after one rainy season in Mumbai
Yes the fuel pump sound is audible.
Try changing gear at 4.5-5K range.

        about K&N check out Abhimanyu31's post: http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/motorcyc...tml#post932875

Regarding the daytona kit, it can be purchased from certain Yamaha dealers, you can find the details & info on the net. It can be installed at the SVC like Kuntalnag mentioned.

There is no best RPM to shift, as long as you ain't shifting at too low RPM's and lugging the engine.
R15's powerband is 7k - 10k rpm and below 5k it doesn't make much power. So shift accordingly keeping in mind that the RPM drops after an upshift. For max performance, yeah sure redline it!

Install Daytona Engine kit. You can safely take her to 160kmph on speedo. And dont say its over-powered

            • Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0

^^^ so you are looking for more power ...

A Daytona kit which includes the Free Flow Exhaust, a revised cam and a revised ECU (in other words the Engine Kit) will set you back by about Rs. 35,000/- including labour and consumables.

While Yamaha and Daytona do not give any official power figures, independent tests have shown that it will do 0 - 100 kms in about 13 seconds vis-a-vis the stock figures of 14.5 seconds. So the real world performance improvement is of 1.5 seconds in acceleration. Also to get the increase in top speed you will require the gearing kit which will cost you an additional amount.

So you need to ask yourself whether its worth spending close to Rs. 50,000/- to go 1.5 seconds and 10 kms faster or is it prudent to look to upgrade to bigger bike.

By the way, the claim made by some dealers about power increase up to 22 bhp is total hog wash!!! An increase of 30% power output to go just 1.5 seconds faster??? I will leave the conclusions to you...

P.s.: my bike has been timed at 0 - 100 kmph at 9.5 seconds

                  Hi All,

for the last few days, my bike(to be precise, the handle) seems to wobble quite a bit at low speed. say, at below 20-25KMPH. at speeds over that, it seems steady. the feeling is like the one you get when the front tire has low pressure. but, i have checked and the tire pressure is fine.

Could you please tell me what things need to be checked/adjusted...?

                  Regards

                    Hi guys
Yesterday I did big bore and cylinder head porting. I went to Bangalore from Chennai appx 400 kms and I paid rs. 700 for petrol and while returning after the modification I filled petrol for Rs.400 in Bangalore and reached Chennai with 2 bars petrol left. I can feel the increase in tourque and power. As it is in run in I will update detailed report soon after my run in.

Great buddy, keep us updated. Performance upgrades are still a taboo to most of us. Lets provide us with a good review after run-in.

Looking really good. I myself feel that rim tapes give character to the bike.
