As of now i just use a cable lock on my HH Hunk. But i am clueless about same with R15 V2
DrVenom is right, this can be done as explained but better avoid.

Can you post some pictures. I'd like to have a look.

PS. I know this question is over used, still I have to ask how do tall people enjoy this bike?
Tall people are good with it, at least from what i have heard.
You need to take it above 7.5 to sense the magic.
It has great handling, best cornering ability.

All bikes you are comparing are good, take a ride of other two as well.

      • R15 V2.0 is a fabulous piece of engineering & an absolute treat on eyes..
I recently rode a friend's R15 V2.0 for 650+ kms with a heavier pillion then me to the awesome twisties of mahabaleshwar & back to mumbai & i hate to repeat what has already been said a million times, 'This baby loves corners'

The corners, even with a pillion seems effortless & absolutely comfy. My shoes are screwed due to constant footpeg scraps. Even the pillion felt absolutely comfortable since the baby R15 felt so firmly planted on the road & stayed in perfectly synchronised lines throughout the corners, especially on exits. I own a FZ & never thought cornering on R15 (on twisty mountains, not on tracks coz R15 is undoubted winner on tracks) can be out of world experience but she proved me wrong. Only issue is she seemed to be struggling quite a while on steep climbs with the pillion & i often had to get the gear down to 2nd or even 1st at times. The mileage was fantastic @ 42 kmpl with mixed highway+mountain riding while my FZ delivered 27 kmpl with both the bikes running at same riding speeds throughout the ride.

I'm riding this R15 V 2.0 for over a 1000 kms now & The other issue which i had been facing all the while is insane fishtailing of rear wheel in times of panic braking from as low as 80-90 kmph.. While the front disc works like a charm, the rear disk seems to get locked so easily that i m afraid i should leave it untouched from now. The fishtailing encounters i went through 2-3 times were absolutely crazy & i wonder how i got her back in control. It may be a specific issue with me only since I'm not used to rear discs yet but still have to ask, any of you guys been facing this issue wit your R15 ?

One more question.. How to remove the front seat ? i dont have the owner's manual so couldn't find the answer.

        & last question,
I'm nearing 5000 kms on ODO, whats the service schedule ? i suppose 6000 kms right ?

It did happen with me once, stopped using rear afterwards and it works like a charm now.

Try using only the front disc with the normal squeeze and pull technique.

In case you still want to use it, maintain a gap between front and rear. do not apply them at once.

Removing the front seat is in manual, search.

i was very happy when i got my bike delivered. but i noticed an error i.e., their is a bump in my front disk (break). so when ever i ride my bike
it makes "kis kis" sound..the same i showed to the mechanic at the service station..he slightly banged the disk (with hammer) and did some sand paper work. still the problem is not solved. later he convinced me that it will be ok after 1st or 2nd service...till date i am facing the same prob(problem not solved yet....all these happen on the day of delivery..since only bike available so i took it)

1st service Patny motors (full satisfied except disk problem)

2nd service chrome yamaha service center, Near Narayan guda, Hyderabad

            this people are really great....

            1. when i asked for engine oil they show me 4 different engine oil containers (all empty) & at last elf oil container....indeed these ppl are carrying empty containers to the first floor and filling it with some oil (i dont know which oil)...but charging the customers MRP of container & taxes.

so i brought a motel 15W50 oil on my own and gave it to them....they poured it in front of me

            2. untrained mechanics are doing the service...for removing the tank cover..the guy unscrew the whole tank ( on even covered the petrol hole... left it open,i went and covered on m own) ....one mechanic is doing FZ bike and simultaneously he is giving the orders to the untrained mechanic(totally strange).....and the head mechanic... i dont see him any where around....supervisor got no idea whats the procedure and how to manage the staff...

            3. the worst part is...they lubricated the chain and other parts with some oil..rather then the sprays (used in 1st service)

            4. though its a free service (2nd)..i brought the oil myself(after seeing the oil change mechanism at the service center) they charged me Rs 50..upon asking why? its for oil change sir.....this is shit

            5. over all my bike which is in super condition (only disk plate problem)....screw up by these guys.....

i don't understand..what sort of service center is that...never saw a service center filling the empty engine oil containers...untrained staff.....lack of supervisor.....unhappy (cant see a welcome facial experience ) head mechanic.....i know bajaj service centers are the worst..but yamaha got some reputation & values (japs & international company)...this kind of experience cant accept...

i meet with some people (customers who gave their bikes at the service center..all unhappy customers again returning with complaints after service) at the service center..none recommended this service station (but my bike was half done..so help less)

i hope yamaha will address my problem

please LET YOUR STAFF KNOW THAT....they are working for yamaha ....they wont own the company...so they can happy replace the fault part rather then convincing the customers / making customers rome behind the service stations

I'm 6'1" and I'm savouring every moment on it.
Keeping the basics right, give your body some time and it will find the most comfortable posture.
Basics being most importantly, the elbow bend (do not "full-hand" the bike; that's the reason for the wrist & elbow pains) and the back-arch.

The first time I rode an R15 was when I was taking the delivery one month back. It felt IMMENSELY DEMANDING. At some points in the early days, I couldn't feel any urge to ride at all. The strict run-in limits added to the doubts about my "match". The concerns about the sub-par service experience started to creep in too.

                But then, gave it time.
                Crossed 500kms.
Upped the revs slightly and there it goes, it turned out to be A DELIGHT.
All doubts vanished and I quickly reached 900km and did the first service 2 days back.
The ODO hit 1k today morning.
                Certainly good times ahead.

                Again, IT'S A DELIGHT.

While reading around prior to the purchase, the most strong opinion about R15's character was its sharpness and precision, owing to its thoroughbred nature.
And now I'm experiencing it first-hand. And boy oh boy, it's magnificent.

                Some relevant quotes:

"Fantastic bike (R15). But too focused."
"At an additional cost of about Rs 70,000, you get a bike (CBR250R) that cannot do things half as well as the R15 can, but can do twice as many things instead." -- ZigWheels' CBR250R vs R15 post.
--That "too focussed" nature was what I needed rather than ease-of-riding or flexibility.

handling benchmarkno chance against the 250cc duo in a straight line. But come cornering timeHonda CBR250R vs Kawasaki Ninja 250R: Kamikraze!
                --
I turn it on and it lights up gleefully, does the self-check and stands by for ignition.

"R15 V2.0 is a fabulous piece of engineering & an absolute treat on eyes.."
                  Absolutely!

I haven't had to truly panic-brake yet, but I haven't faced any unexpected naughtiness from the rear-wheel. I normally use both the brakes (more in a 75:25 front/rear ratio).

Yes, mileage is SOME technical brilliance. I'm getting an (approximate)avg of 50kmpl in the first 1000kms (haven't yet gone above 7k though).

I haven't removed the front seat myself but the manual says:
1.To remove the rider seat, first remove the pillion seat.
                  2. Remove the side cover 6 by removing the two screws (which will be visible once the pillion seat is gone)
                  3. Remove the cable seat lock
                  4. Remove 2 more bolts that secures the seat and you will be done.

And yes, the service schedule (kms) is 1000, 3000, 6000 ... every 3000

                  • Got the new R15.

I got R15 last friday. I am enjoying it so far. Really trying hard not to go past 5k rpm, but regularly ride in 4-5k range. Before r15 I had discover 125, the handling and grip is just awesome.

I am also planning a longer ride from Noida to Rishikesh and new Tihari. Are there any extra precautions that I should take other than that given in the manual?

                    Thanks in advance,

also is there any one from Noida, who can tell me about the JM Motors service center and if It's good or not?

If ur bike is still in the running-in period, i would suggest that after every 30-50kms of ride give ur engine some rest (say for 10-15 mins), this will help develop ur engine better. Secondly, do not keep the rpm's constant for a long time, instead keep varying it, also u can take ur bike upto 6k rpm w/o any worries but do it gradually. Also, keep changing gears and after say every 5-10 kms give short bursts of acceleration.

Most important:Ride with proper safety gear.

Have fun with ur new ride

mileage is a real cherry on cake.. An absolutely fabulous bike & fantastic mileage figures as well.. Myself, being an FZ owner, wonder how just a mere fat a*s tyre of FZ can lead to such a drastic fall in mileage which is almost half of what R15 V2.0 is giving me.

& thanks for the info on seat removal & service schedule..

Normal squeeze & pull technique of front brake is whats keeping me from kissing the tarmac till now.. I'm not sure how useful "maintaining a gap between front and rear. do not apply them at once". would prove but i'll give it a shot as well.

Using Front/Rear brakes in 80:20 or such other ratio at once alongwith engine braking by gearing down is regarded as the safest method for panic braking by most AFAIK

Practice this at your comfortable speed limit
                              - Press the front brake lever, just slightly using two fingers. The point is we need to get the pads fully attached to the disc. You would slowly get the feel when is the time. It is a one second process. Along start rolling the throttle back with your thumb.
AND START SHIFTING YOUR WEIGHT BACKWARDS, this is a reason why rear skids at times, we normally put all the pressure on front but that is not the right way, weight should be distributed. else rear starts misbehaving.
                              - Then as per your confidence start pulling the lever as much you can in one go. It would be scary in start, But you would love it later.
                              - If you are in high gears, as per your speed also start shifting down. But remember that also requires practice, many guys follow the two shift down process to slow down. But at high speeds i feel it gets the bike skidding.
