For asymmetric wear of tyre like in the pic, I have explained it way before in this thread . Many has the problems and I had asked Yamaha about it. They provided me an explanation of why it happens. Please search the thread. Its not bikes issue.

Mechanic also says its normal. I usually shift around 8-9k rpm and do long highway runs. So scrapped the idea of opening up the engine. Compression test result is normal too.Originally posted by incipient View PostDepending on how hard you ride, that might be okay.Yamaha YZF-R15

Actually that's very unsual. Scratched bore, piston etc., smoke on a 26k old R15 is unheard of, no matter how harsh one's riding style has been.Originally posted by incipient View PostDepending on how hard you ride, that might be okay.
I have this friend who's literally raped (as in definition of "rape") his R15 v2 for 55k Kms, has a dagrex exhaust and his bike shows no signs of smoke even at redline and oil disappearance. no performance drop either.

This is my second R15. The first one i rode for 28k and on the current one i have clocked 13k.Originally posted by broken87 View PostActually that's very unsual. Scratched bore, piston etc., smoke on a 26k old R15 is unheard of, no matter how harsh one's riding style has been.

Both the bikes consumed oil. The first bike was broken in quite poorly with a fair bit of lugging. The new one's had a more spirited break in, though not motoman's by any means. Honestly speaking there's not a lot of difference in performance or oil consumption between the two. The new one gives much better mileage but that's because of the closed loop (?) system. The old bike had lost some power by the time i sold it.
If i had a third chance at breaking-in an R15 i'd do it hard and quick within the first 150 km. Though i don't know what difference that might make.
Since we are NCR, maybe we can meet sometime. I'd be interested to see how this abused bike performs.

strange to hear about power loss at just 28k. we're talking about Yamaha here. Even my 200NS shows no signs of power loss at 36k, been seriously abused since beginning with a mixed run-in procedure, also did numerous stunt practice sessions, only it's FE has dropped. Even today it can whip any 200NS from latest batches in a drag.Originally posted by incipient View PostThis is my second R15. The first one i rode for 28k and on the current one i have clocked 13k.

anyway, you'd be surprised to see how well my friend's R15 performs at 55k, he himself will tell you everything about his ownership, he's a big Yamaha bhaqt.
we can meet on weekends, though my friend's R15 is currently in svc for a faring replacement as he had a some crash. pm me ur whatsapp number and we'll see.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Question: Why'd you buy another Yamaha when you had one already? Also, if the first one was giving the problem, which SVC you showed it to? was it the same SVC? have you tried a different SVC? Anything that happened with the bike? Crash, accident, rode around in very low fuel, overloaded the battery?Originally posted by incipient View PostThis is my second R15. Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
I test drove RS200, R15 V2.0, RS200 strict no because of build quality. V2.0 it is excellent for single, but went for R15s as power delivery felt very smooth. No vibes. Also better mileage as engine has been tweaked a little than V2.0, excellent pillon comfort.Originally posted by vivek7593 View PostAny particular reason for picking r15s ?

I have read apart from change in seat, there isn't any difference between the two bikesOriginally posted by Anunay View PostV2.0 it is excellent for single, but went for R15s as power delivery felt very smooth. Ride safe and have fun.
