• Re: KTM 200 Duke

Hey buds,I got my D200 on May 9th and did 850kms on the ODO now.I have problems in the speedo since 600kms,like it shows 40 when I'm at 80 and changes to 30 and again back to 60 (like thrice in a second :P). It never shows a constant value even if I'm going at a constant speed. And yeah,it doesn't happen always (only at times) and after a couple of hours of rest it works just fine.I've encountered this problem twice .Have anyone else experienced this problem before?

Yeah I have the same problem sometimes. It's for saving the battery life while turning on. If the headlight is On during ignition it is interrupted and is allowed to turn On only after few seconds. This feature has minor glitches like the headlight doesn't turn on unless you ignition Off and then On.I'll just turn the ignition OFF and then turn it ON again then it works fine.

Duke 200 showing high coolent temp when headlamps are on,and cools down when headlamps are off.the engine really gets heated up.shown to asc manglore and kannur, but the problem still exist and also have noticed that the performance have came down (17k Kms done).seems like problem with wiring kit, sadly wiring doesn't have warranty

Hey!, issue is with the grounding. Do check out a few pages back. Doga has reported same kind of issue and also the fix for it.

Well, I posted this around 15-20 days back regarding the headlight glitch my bike had that headlights did'nt come on sometimes unless I kill the engine using Engine Kill or Turn Off/On Ignition, the problem has been figured out when I took it to svc with headlight not working.

The headlight relay is the culprit. In my case it happens a lot.

Actually, the 2014 model of Duke 200 has 3 controllers/relays for controlling electricals instead of one single blue colored unit under the tank which older models had. Of these 3 relays, 1 is dedicated for headlight. Other 2 I dont remember as it has been some time.

So anyone facing this glitch, can press for replacement of this part. It is under the tank. The part is hard to get by here. I am still waiting for it to be replaced.

Cheers
Akshay

Change of Oil along with oil filter is the main task of the First service plus chain clean/lube and checking of chain tension.

Completed 30k kms recently. The bike has been doing fine generally after the last service barring one thing. The ride quality. It's a bit bone jarring surely aided by the decision of the mech to change the rear shock setting to 7 The bike just keeps on jumping up and down. Also the forks appear too stiff. I can feel the front bouncing a bit on braking. I started to notice this after the service . I had instructed the mech to replace the oil in both the forks while he patched the left fork seal, so that the damping is kept balanced. May be this has a bearing on the stiffness. The fork action is not smooth too. I mean it can be stiff or spongy but it's not gradual. This is noticed the most, as I said under braking. I am not sure which grade oil they put in the forks.
All of this has been contributing to not so confident cornering. I am not able to feel the traction levels properly and having difficulties leaning on the same corners I used to do before with ease(no Rossi stuff, regular minimal leaning ones ). This may also be due to the slight bend I have on the front rim.
I'd definitely get the rear shock back to 5 or 6.

But how do I fix the forks?

Also should I go for a rim replacement or do I go try getting it fixed? Since the bend is not pronounced I doubt the insurance agent would clear the claim.

Oh and btw, warranty gone !!
