Re: KTM 200 Duke
I was planning to visit my hometown in Kerala and will be there for around two months. My first plan was to take my bike by train, but taking into account the money I have to spend, which would be around 5k, plus the unsurety of the ways the railways handle the bike made me think about riding it all the way to Kerala, around 1200 KMs. This way, with less than the money I spend on train I can get to my destination. Any thoughts or inputs from anyone who has already taken long distance rides please share some ideas. I apologize if I posted in the wrong thread, I did it because the bike is Duke!

Re: KTM 200 Duke
I recently did 2500kms round-trip on my friends D200, maintain a constant 100km/hr and you should be good. For the entire trip I got a FE of ~40kmpl. Though keep in mind, due to the small tank, the range. I had to tank-up after every 250-270kms.Originally posted by leorcid View PostI was planning to visit my hometown in Kerala and will be there for around two months. Could you please give me a short account of your ride? The difficulties you've faced and the right time for the ride and so on?Originally posted by burninrubbr View PostI recently did 2500kms round-trip on my friends D200, maintain a constant 100km/hr and you should be good. Re: KTM 200 Duke
hi!! thanks for the info...however....u got any idea how to obtain a 40T rear sprocket of karizma without buying the full set of chain and sprocket....i cant find and service centre/ spare shops selling only the rear sprocket....else the only alternative is to go for a full set of chain and sprocket...Originally posted by karticraja View PostHi friend. Sorry for late reply. The ideal choice according to me is 40t. U need to cut the chain and add link lock. Service centre will take care of that.

Hi friend. In theory yes. But practically runs out of power for such long ratios. I dont remember the rpm correctly. It was around 9 to 9.5k. Currently I use 39t

Re: KTM 200 Duke
The total one way journey was 1137kms, which we did in a 18hrsOriginally posted by leorcid View PostCould you please give me a short account of your ride? The difficulties you've faced and the right time for the ride and so on?
The bike performed flawlessly, it was me who was tired.
We started off early morning, by 6am, from my place, took a pee break every 200kms and a proper halt for lunch and dinner.
We didn't face any issues.
My suggestion, since you'll be riding solo, plan your stops and check the road conditions, keep a pair of earphones handy (just in case you need to use the navigation), keep yourself hydrated and don't eat heavy.
If you want, use padded cycling shorts or nivea cream, for the private parts, will keep the bum sore away.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Thanks a bunch, brother... I will be starting this Friday as early as possible, may be 4 in the morning. Straight to Bangalore, around 600 KMs, halt there for the night, start again early in the morning from Bangalore to Coimbatore, 400 KMs, then from there to Kottayam, 240 KMs. Does anyone have any better routes?Originally posted by burninrubbr View PostThe total one way journey was 1137kms, which we did in a 18hrs

Re: KTM 200 Duke
So I got my first service done and I thought to redline few gears for short time . and well I am a bit disappointed the bike feels so stressed after 8500 RPM and almost cried going to the 10 K mark . Engine feels so stressed . Although I Didn't push the bike further as I could feel the stress . 3rd gear was giving up on 60 ish . It just doesn't sound pleasing
. I managed to touch 100 on 4th gear but it took a while . When I see videos of duke's acceleration , I could see them hitting the 10 K mark like a bullet . But same is not happening . Should I give immediate full 'throttle' for each gear.
Or It will eventually be fine and less stressed ?Last edited by dukist; 03-09-2014, 08:50 PM.READY TO RACE >>
