I would say 150R is a totally a different machine beyond 8k! and that too during redlined upshifts, sure, you'll be amazed.
It slowly climbs till 8k and once it crosses it, just a flash and the needle will be already within the redzone. A screamer beyond that mark.
Keeping her above 7-8k rpm is what matters in riding 150R.

Btw, my babe had crossed her 3000 mark and she is now super duper responsive.
Due for 2nd servicing in mid of this month.

The limiter kicks in @11,500 rpm just within a second after the first shift..And, that's where the fun begins !! ;)

Normally i guess you should keep that witin 4-5k intially for first 500kms and later 5-6k till 1100kms. Later no boundaries!!

Nice pic bro!Anyways, thanks for your reply. Its a 2 stroke machine character, all of the power coming in at narrow set of revs.Keeping in that band provides good thrust..

I had noticed that my (now old) RTR160 had low torque under 4k RPM till about 4000 kms. After 5000 kms and 4th service, the torque got more evenly spread, right from 2.5k RPMs. Do you notice a similar change in the baby Blade beyond 2500 kms?

            Thanks bro!
and yeah., but the downside is that, when one sees you keeping the 150R in its band, he'll for sure think, why this man is stressing his bike this much or doesn't this bike have its next gear?? You know, this honda engine it gets vocal beyond 8K...

hhmmmm., maybe you could say that... Am noticing a drastic change in her performance. Pulls a lot better, rises up a lot lot quicker, and hits 90kmph in no time.. The days are getting real awesome... Btw, 90% of my driving her was on highways and beyond 70kmph, right from the next day of buying.

Your bike is too reflective . Did anything special or ? Mine doesn't look this shiny.

              Back to topic :

I shift gears around 8500rpm, and the bike is very responsive beyond 7krpm. More often i like to shift around 9000 RPM. Never noticed any vibrations till now. 250kms on odo till now.

              • Did 500 kms almost non stop (just breaks of 3-5 mins every half hour) from Thrissur, KL to Bangalore, KA today. Have posted a full trip log+pics, waiting to get it approved.

In short: first 200 kms in 5 hours (shitty roads, many offroading strips too, plus traffic), and the next 250 kms in 3 hours (!).

Top speed: 130 kmph (me 80 kg + considerable luggage of over 15 kg).

Mileage: 34kmpl in mixed and 38kmpl on highways (almost fully 110+ speeds). Great mileage for the speeds considered, methinks. Read on someone's log that a Pulsar 150 returned only ~35kmpl while at 90 kmph+, so CBR's mileage is simply outstanding.

Bike was in run in (250 kms before trip), so I didn't accelerate particularly hard, except for a couple of overtaking situations where I'd have been smacked by cars from opposite side if I didn't go through quickly. Loved the instant throttle response at 7k+ RPM. The pull is instantaneous and addictive, just waiting to finish 1500 kms so I can start opening full throttle.

The comfort levels are good, I had only a small right wrist pain after the ride (subsided after a few mins).

Had a couple of whoopsie moments, where a rogue car and a huge trailer truck cut into my lane while I was charging at 100+ kmph, but the braking was spot on, and the bike was supremely stable even under sharp braking.

I'll link to the trip log when it's up. Can't wait to do more long rides! I'm already planning for the next weekend.

Thanks Jagadesh! It may be cuz of the post processing of the photos..
                  I'll post a un-processed photo next time.

The way you mentioned it here, seems like the Babiest Blade is giving you ear-to-ear smiles
Well, as for the mileage, its a pretty good figure. The Pulsar 150 you read about was constantly doing 90-110 KMPH from Mumbai?pune to Kerala ride and was a 2005-6 model. It was accompanied by a P220 and fuel efficiency figures were the same for both the machines = 32-35 KMPL. At that speeds, almost all machines(125-250, single cylinder) drink in the same way. CBR has got FI which may provide a teeny tiny bit more FE than the carb ones. What matters is the stability at that speed which no doubt would be awesome for CBR owing to the layered fairing design. Pulsars wobble under harsh braking due to its flexible double down tube frame, personal experience from yesterday's 220 kms ride.

However, its nice to know the baby CBR is spreading countless smiles. Keep munching miles.
                      Regards,
                      Akash Yadav

The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place. It will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it.

Absolutely, in fact i went out for breakfast now and have a wide grin now...I experienced stability under sudden braking first hand on the trip, a long trailer suddenly pulled into my lane while i was doing 100 kmph and accelerating. Similar conditions on my RTR160 would have been a scary moment, especially the rear fishtailing and all.

Here's the trip log for my Thrissur-Bangalore. Has a few pics too.

There is none in the market as of now for the 150R. If anything there are Thailand based small time dealers offering some on FB aswell.. Google for Wingyap Motors and see if they have any!
