Mate, here in Hyderabad we had this promotional offer in June-July when Super Shell was retailing at 77.80/L. Normal BP,HP,IO petrols were retailing at 75.24/L. I was like even if I fill in 10L of petrol, I am just saving 20 Rs., so went to Shell station, twice in that period and got full tanks 2 times, 11.xx L the first time and 9.80L the second time. Fuel efficiency bumped up by +5KMPL and engine was super smooth(Pulsar's standards ).

The thing is, if I can use it my power commuter, you can very well use it. Trust me, I got my friends too to fill it up and they were all praises for the Super Shell. However things have changed, no offers now and Shell Unleaded retails at 88.90/L whereas the normal BP/HP/IO unleaded retails at 74.26/L. I always go in for full tanks, i.e. >10L and I initially was using BP, so got no problems even with mixing of fuels. Shell's site too says that its ok to mix their fuels with other brands.
Now after the rise in the premium fuel, I have never filled it up. I got around 43-44kmpl both in city and highways(80% highway) using normal fuel after my second service. Now for the eroding issue using premium fuel, better fill up with the premium fuel occasionally.

    • First, hello everyone
I read all the manual but can't find any word mention about oil filter. Wonder what the SVC do about oil filter? I'm not from India but own a CBR150R 2012 from India.

88 Rs in Hyderabad !!. In Chennai Shell super unleaded costs Rs 79. Yesterday when i was there in Shell, 2 people were discussing about their bikes (both had Unicorn). One asked " what is the mileage", other replied " it gives me 65, 10 kms more than with normal petrol and in highways i am able to get 70 plus. Morover engine also smooth". First person also agreed. So, Shell is good as you said, but I think should avoid using most often.

There's is no mention of oil filter and only a oil strainer. I suppose both are the same and maybe aren't too. We have asked this question in this forum, but got no absolute answers on that. Maybe, no experts got to lay their hands on this bike's internals. The replacement of so called oil-strainer is given in the user manual itself.

Btw, welcome to the forum. and where you are exactly from?
The limiter kicks in @11,500 rpm just within a second after the first shift..And, that's where the fun begins !! ;)

          • To the kolkata 150R owners from Duggar Honda dealership or any local members,

Can any one post the co-ordinate or google maps screenshot about the service/spare center about Duggar Honda via P.M or here ? Where is it ?
It is not there where the showroom situated, not in the VIP road (Haldiram side).....Today I can't able to locate after getting the direction from them and lost valuable time to just locate it, then lost & quit.

Asking this here coz, I saw several members from kolkata bought there ride from that dealership and actively participate here. so hoping for the reply.

I want to know location of the spare parts counter-service center, not the showroom-Sales.

IN Honda bikes we have oil strainers which is a rectangular plate like filter which is kept in a slot under the clutch plates. another filter we have is centrifugal filter which is also inside the clutch side cover .Unlike other company bikes we need not replace filters every oil change time.once in a while you can open the clutch side cover and take the filters out and clean with petrol and fit back.Make sure to change the gasket of cover when you open .

My SVC mechanic said that there is no oil filter in CBR 150R.

                • From the past few posts in this thread i can only see that some one commenting against cbr150 and owners defending it.from my point there is currently no bike in its segment to be compared with cbr150 which i still think as as an r15 v1.0 with better touring ability.it may be or may not be an VFM but its still a good bike .Good handling,High reving engine, decent fuel economy and what else you ask for?Duke is an street bike, R15 v2.0 track focused, CBR 250r little soft for cornering(personal view). And i am a fan of CBR150 already and want owners to post regarding the machine .

Thank you. I'm from Vietnam. Here we have CBR150R that imported from Thailand and India. Most of my friend buy Thailand version, only me choose India just because of the good combine colors (LOL). Honda SVC in my city does not support CBR model :'(, so i have to take the bike to other motor shop, wich i'm not really trustful.

If the rating is 10W30 and they have charged 600 INR to you for the first change, it is Full Synthetic Honda oil. Please stick to it and if possbile go to the service center with a shotgun and ask them to change the oil (TROLL included). Change the oil mate, that's the best you can do to your ride. Also, I follow the change of oil in the below mentioned manner:

                          1. Mineral - 1500-2000 KMs
                          2. Semi-Syn - 3500-4000 KMs
                          3. Full Syn - 5500-6000 KMs (however, I have never bothered to go for full synthetic. too costly for my type of use)

PS : I own a P150 with oil rating 20W50 and currently using 15W50 rated oil. WINTERS and approaching.

For Shell and Motul, yoy have mentioned 15/20W50 rated oil. Please note that if the oil rating is 10W30, you can very well vary the rating '10' to 5 or even 0 but don't go above 10. As far as the value after W is concenred, please stick to the one mentioned in the manual. And yup, Thai and Indian versions are different.

Umm, P220 engine in Avenger is mroe reliable than the more aggressive brother P220? Mate, they are two different bikes so have got different ways of throwing in power and torque. Avenger is a relaxed cruiser whereas P220 is like an aggressive brawler.
                          my mistake
both motul and shell advance ultra i used is rated at 10-40W , picture for example
code of cbr150 engine ( thai version ) is KPP E1

                            • hi everyone,

I have found the paint peeling off from the fuel tank lid. I pointed this out to the SVC during first service and they just did a samll paint job on it. But it didn't help and the paint seems to be peeling off. Should i ask for the replacement of the lid in my second service which is due in a month's time?

Other than the above mentioned issue my baby is behaving as a beast. It is becoming smoother by the day and the response from the throttle and the brakes are just awesome. I am totally in love with this ride. It's returning a decent 34-36 kmpl in city (90% city driving) which is above par for this class of motorcycle. I have done 1800 kms on the odo.

                              Regards,

                              • Hi xbhp'ians, after good amount of research, multiple test drives of different bikes for nearly 4-5 months and reading through multiple threads, I finalized on cbr 150r. In spite of its minor drawbacks like switchgears and low torque, I felt it was more suitable for me. As I am 5.5 ft height and have a pillion most of the time, CBR 150 suited me more than D200 or R15 V2.0. I even tried P200 NS, it was little uncomfortable for me due to seat height. It's just me, other than that P200NS is a great machine.

Finally, booked the orange CBR 150R, got delivered in 3 days.. hassle free sales process. I have to really thank sapphire honda, bangalore for this.

Pooja done and drove some 8-10 kms. Initial pros and cons are as below.

                                Pros
                                1. Very smooth honda engine.
                                2. Very easily manuverable due to less wheel base and weight.
                                3. Lights are powerful.
                                4. Good quality paint.
                                5. Comfortable to ride.
                                6. Good sticky tyres from MRF zapper.
                                7. Good long gear ratios.
                                8. Gear slotting is good even though it is little hard.

                                CONS
                                1. Switchgears. On the pass light switch, the sales person told me that we can fix it with some mechanic and that will not impact warranty. Only Engine kill switch is not allowed or if we fit it ourselves, that will void the warranty.
                                2. Gears are little hard initially especially the 1st gear, hoping to be little better after first service.
                                3. Frankly speaking low torque was not a problem for me. I fully agree with IAMABIKER review that low power in low revs and high power in high revs is good for FE.

I wanted to thank all the members of xbhp for their valuable contributions, reviews and positive discussions. It's a great forum for learning, understanding and practicing disciplined biking.

                                Attaching my bike's pic.

Will be posting more views as I saddle up more on the CBR 150r.
