Guys, the engine of CBR 150R is DOHC type isn't it so did you ever faced any issues related to SHIMS just like CBR 250R?

Both 150R and 250R are DOHC type and are designed very well. Till now most of us (150R owners) have not faced any issues in the engine/transmission or SHIMS per se.. this engine is a engineering achievement is what I will say due to its superior refinement, FE and the top end power for a 150CC.
Many have issues on low end torque or absence of quality switchgears, but nothing related to moving parts or washers.

I bought the bike with the first batch(Jun 2012). Till now there is no issues with the engine. But I have faced minor issues.

          1. Loosening of mirror screws in just 2 weeks of buying the bike.(THE SVC doesnt even stock these screws)
          2. My Speedo console protective glass got cracked in a month.
          3. Recently my bike gives exhaust gas smell when starting it.(I suspect minor cracks in the exhaust line). The metal parts gets rusted too fast.

250R is certainly the better choice for that due to its torque but my budget doesn't allow me for that. Also, I am not very interested in 250R. Ever since I started biking, I was waiting for this bike only and now when this got launched, 12.66 Nm torque doesn't seem to be enough for my riding needs. I am just looking for this bike but only doubt its torque. Otherwise, I will have to go for ZMA.
Before buying, I just want feedback from any rider who has done it to Leh or any such high altitude places on his 150R.

Go for zmr buddy... Very well fits your budget and requirement.. Am saying this bcz you can't afford 250R... If you can then go for it and imo there won't be any prob with 150R's torque if you ride solo..

Thanks Sidharth for your reply. I always ride solo in Himalayas and just have a bag tied with Bungee cords. I have a CBF Stunner which has torque of 11 Nm whereas 150R has torque of 12.66 Nm. I have seen my CBF struggling very hard to climb up those heights. Just wondering if difference of 1.66 Nm would make that much difference.
For ZMR, I also considered ZMR but never liked the looks. No offence to anybody please as its a personal opinion. Instead of ZMR, I have considered ZMA but only interested in 150R you know

I have also seen some people who have done Leh on their R15 with ease. Not sure if 150R could do it due to its low end torque.

I'm a Duke guy, so apologies for jumping in.
I don't own 150R but have tried it with a pillion once going uphill, and I basically managed to stall it. It wasn't a pleasant situation.
If I knew then the bike had such a low torque I would had tried revving it real hard in 1st gear, but the problem you will for sure face in mountains is that you'll have to go uphill AND go slow. In that case the revs will have to be lower, and you'll have a real problem, basically you won't be able to pull it up.
And even if you don't have to go very slow it's still not convenient to rev the bike to the max just to be able to make it up hill...

150R is a really nice machine for flat roads but it's definitely not meant for going uphill or for tougher roads.
In this case ZMA might be a much better bike to have. If you don't need to go uphill then definitely go for 150R.
R15 is also a very nice bike but it's also weaker at low rpms, although has some more torque than 150R.

All bikes are good in their own way, but not all bikes are made for all kinds of roads...

Thanks mate for your response. Thanks for jumping in . You answered the query.
Well, this was my only concern. I have seen my Stunner struggling very hard to climb uphill on such roads. It has 11 Nm torque whereas 150R has 12.66 Nm which is just an increment of 1.66 Nm so was just wondering if it could make any difference I am not a very technical guy so don't know if the awesome horse power Also, its the only bike which has my heart. My mind still says to go for ZMA as for such terrains and roads, ZMA is a lot better than 150R due to its very good torque.
I am just confused if I should listen to my mind or my heart

Dude if you want to climb hills like himalayas, my advice stay out of 150R ( No offence).. You got to take it out of your heart or save up for 250R.. I dunno why you dont like zmr... Just pay a visit to showroom and you'll like it for sure. Its a very capable machine with comfy seats and pgm-fi.. Or stretch a little bit and go for duke 200... Good luck on your choice

150R isn't an all terrain bike mate. Its a sweet and nice high revving bike that is at home on circuits. For conquering Himalayas you need a bike that develops good torque at low revs. ZMA-R or Duke 200 should make you all happy in that context. I hold my reserves for a faired bike to do uneven terrain and that too the Himalayas. People might have taken their faired bikes to real off roading locations but the best would be to have a naked bike that allows to you navigate with least worries in such terrains.
