They checked and the oil seal at the water pump got league. Changed n its fine now... I did 3 oil replacements...each at 500 kms... but im so delighted wiyh the fact that ktm has really made this machine with hell lot of whatever u call it.... amazing. .. no coolant for a mnth. My air filter had all that extra mix of oil n water mixed.. sitting there....still the bike never complaint. Wow... ....... To you mate.... open up the air filter cover.... remove the filter. .. remove that thin plate of metal and check if nothing is there as in my case as I said the mix was lying there...

The oil mix that you see in the filter box is from the PCV system. What happens is, in a practical case of the combustion stroke happening at the piston, even a brand new engine suffers minute compression loss and a slight bit of burnt gases blow past the piston rings into the oil chamber below. Now these gases cant be allowed to stay there. They cant be released into the air just like that for environmental reasons. Instead a PCV system makes sure that these gases are recycled by sending them back to the intake box. Due to adherent oil molecules coming with the gases, they get released at the mouth of the system in the airbox and condense. In due course of time this volume will increase and in case of 200NS you may find oil dripping down when parked.

Water is not supposed to be there though.

Lastly, the engine in 200NS shares two things with that of the 200 duke: displacement and the gear ratios. Every other bell and whistle is different.

Hi aditya... im aware of this fact that the gas goes back to the intake...which started with cbz in 2000... but the excessive mix that I saw was because the outlet pipe which lets the engine breathe was blocked....led the gas settle in form of vapor in the air box...

Hi everyone.. took my NS last Friday
didn't have much time to take it out for a run.. did 150 on odo now and I'm planning to take it to a trip tomorrow. It'll be a 120km trip on total. will it be fine?
I'm planning to change the oil now (as one my friend has revved it a little hard two days ago and the svc guy was hard revving it before the delivery he must've touched 10k rpm!!!)
and take it for the ride tomorrow.. what say?

            ^^ Do change the oil.
Regarding trip. Rest every 30 km for 10 to 15 min to cool the engine. Dont ride at constant speed. This will take care of bike.

It isn't necessary until you cross 500kms. Chill and don't pamper your bike like a baby.

Speak for yourself. I like pampering my baby.

Got tired of running on the Bajaj DTSi 10000 oil and conducted an oil transplant on my bike today. Went and got some Motul 3100 20W50 from JC Road, Bangalore today.

Seems worth it so far. The Bajaj oil was fine when cold, but then wasn't so good when warmed up. Nothing very dramatic, just that the difference was not to my liking. The gearshifts were like trying to hack a block of butter with a spoon before, but is now like cutting the same block of butter with a hot knife after the transplant.

But it's still early days yet. Will have to see how it holds out. First time using Motul 3100. Previous experiences on my previous bikes were with Motul 5100 and 300V, and good experiences they were.

After reading this post I opened up the air filter again but didn't find any mix or something!

Not just the air filter. You gotta remove the mesh too. You will notice the box as shown in the pic. Forget the mouth of the intake, see the upper portion. There is a small blob like thing on it which I believe is the outlet of the PCV system. I always find oil in that region.

Ever since I got the coolant replaced im observing this unusual thing. Throughout my riding time the coolant level indicator on the reservoir looks fine but after I shut off the engine and let it be for a couple of minutes I notice the level checking window fogged up, like bathroom mirrors after a hot bath. Around 30 mins later the minute droplets join together, become bigger as they condense and by the time the engine is cold the window gets clear again. What is going on guys??
P.S. Previous coolant used: motul. Now: castrol. Reason for changing coolant: reduction in coolant level below minimum and non availability of motul coolant in my city.

P.P.S I have also noticed slight increase in amount of oil deposits on the thread of the LH slave plug. Could one reason be that the valve seals are at their end? Is there any need to periodically replace all gaskets and seals from the engine head? Bike is 25k kms old.

After 2 weeks got my LED bulbs out of the parking light housing few minutes ago. Thanks to my little bro that I suffered so much . Now the fear of opening the fairing and the vibrations and rattling coming up after that made me scared. So I did not go to the ASC to get the LED bulbs out of the parking light housing instead made up my mind to take the bulbs out. Everyday used to try something or the other after returning from college. Like getting a piece of thin steel coil and poking through the housing and getting the bulb out.All these proved to be futile. But yesterday night I got an idea. Why not stick something sticky to the tip of some pointed thing and poke into the parking light hole and get the bulbs out. So 2 hrs ago got back from college. Purchased M-seal and then stuck it to the tip of a scissor. The small plastic scissors u get. Now slowly poked it through the parking light hole and carefully got it to the bulb stuck inside . Now I pulled out the scissor and voila got the bulb out . It was an easy way and even no Mseal was stuck to the parking light housing . Relief

It is recommended not to mix 2 oils , &100 is more than enough and many people say they didnt find a difference in 300v vs 7100 . check if the viscosity matches. 300v is double ester where 7100 is only ester . Go to Motul website and download saftey data sheet you will see different components present in oil so recommended dont mix . If mixing at least match the viscosity . ps - if you can buy 300v then buy 2 bottles dont harm the engine :P
