          How is that possible?
I always lock my old pulsar 150 to right side, after buying this bike i was like, what? Why can't it be locked to right side?
It took some time to adjust locking to left side, i used to first try to right side then realize and locked to left.
Can it be done or does this come with new bikes?
I also like to install automatic side signaling lights sensors, can it be done too?

Hey guys! I am facing a slight problem with my bike.
            1.
When in idle, my bike's engine creates an almost inaudible noise, somewhat similar to metal rubbing another metallic wall, but this goes away when I give race ( may be the engine roar overshadows it).
I took the bike to a nearby service center, and the mechanic their told me that it is coming because of something called tappet. I was getting late for office so couldn't give the bike that day next day I took the bike and another mechanic looked at it, and told me that it is normal in all 200NS, and also if he opens the engine to check it, it might affect the overall performance of the bike.
Any idea about this? Is it really a problem or I just got extra worried about it?

            2.
Sometimes when I leave the cluth lever and give race, a "tak" sound comes somewhere from the engine side of the bike. Even after 2 services this sound hasn't gone. It started to come after 2nd free service, and I have already got my bike serviced for the 4th time (1st paid).
Any help on this would be great!

My bike is 1 year old and I have ridden it for only 4500km and I am using bajaj engine oil. I get my chain lubricated timely.

            Thanks in advance! 😃

              1) Loose tappet noise is like sewing-machine , louder when engine gets hot . A little bit loose tappet is of no harm , you can ride on like this . If you want to correct go to Bajaj service center and ask them to adjust it properly . Proper tappet gap shall be mentioned in your owner's manual , as well as the procedure . It is adjusted by opening the tappet covers , no need to open engine - so don't worry .

              2) What you describe usually happens from loose chain . As you release clutch and the engine turns the front sprocket , the loose chain snaps taut - causing the "tak" sound . After chain is lubricated ask them to adjust the slack . With your finger on the middle of the bottom run of chain move it up/down , correct slack is about 1-1.5 inch there .

Coz my bike neither exhaling black/white smoke nor any type of peculiar sound from engine ... I get it serviced time to time.
May be the reason i told him i want to sell it... And he showed interest buying it...

What are the symptoms if piston is defective?

                    1. starting trouble (not necessary bad engine, could mean bad carburettor also or bad ignition system)

                    2. loss of power (if not any other factor such as air filter, carburettor, spark plugs, clutch plates, etc)

3.blueish white smoke if oil rings are damaged(but smoke could also be due to valve oil seal &/ guide wear) blue smoke usually appears white, if you pay attention closely, ul find it to be blue

4.if compression is extremely weak but oil rings are proper, you'll get pure white smoke (in this case engine wil not idle below a certain rpm & major starting trouble)

you can get a compression test done. make sure the engine is hot when its done
check the specified compression pressure in the service manual

it happens because the rate of fuel flow reduces when the fuel pressure in the tank drops when the fuel is low so it doesnt fill the float chamber of the carb fast enough when you're at high speed
                      its normal

I had a liter of 20W50; it says in the manual, the engine needs to be filled with 1.2 ltr oil. However my mechanic says just 1.1 ltr is enough and additional oil would heat up the engine. Is there any science behind his thought? Also, the extra 100ml was added with my 15W50 left over from my previous purchase. Will there be any issue with the mix?

It again depends. Can go as low as 4000 if your on half clutch or without. Did you try adjusting the idling?
                          half clutch?
                          are you serious?
are you suggesting pressing the clutch half way and slipping it?

                            Hey Pinaki

I checked the slack in the chain, it seems to be around 1 inch

Any idea if anything else could ve causing it? Though I will go to the mechanic tomorrow and ask him to check the slack and adjust it if required.

guys, ive been reading a lot of post where people have been idling their engines under the specified value
you will get better average but it will reduce your engine life in the long run

1.oil does not reach all the way to the top at low rpm

                              2. low rpm will also cause bearing damage

                              1200rpm is acceptable
but 1000 or 1100 is too low

but even it you want to idle at 1200, please let it warm up at 1400 rpm first

1.dont worry about the tappets, pulsars are known for their tappet sound, the service center guys will reduce the tappet clearance blindly to almost 0 because the tappet clearance increases when the engine heats up on pulsars as the company keeps extra clearance between the valve stem and guide so the valve stem strsightens out when it heats up as the clearance is filled due to expansion, normally it sits to one side. I had the same problem with my unicorn
I dont know what is with bajaj and extra clearances

this is a picture I took of the feeler gauge after heating up the engine when u set it to 0.05mm(intake) 0.08mm(exhaust) at cold
it increased to 0.13 and 0.15mm

                                2. this tak sound is not always due to chain slack, I get it too sometimes even when my chain is tight
im not sure but I have a feeling its due to play in the bushes in the wheel which hold the mounting for the sprocket
