• Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences

Hi guys. I want to share few things regarding my Pearl Black 200NS....
I got it a month ago(After several confusion amongst bikes), I was very happy to own this wonderful machine...
Im almost done with my Run-In period(very annoying).... Now and then i have hit 60-66kmph for a glimpse of seconds....
It gives an average mileage of around 42-48kmpl(Thank god).....

Now coming to my doubts... At times when i drive the bike i feel the engine is choking to death as if im over driving it to its limits, it doesn\\\\\\\'t feels smooth...
i dont know why that kinda twitch in the engine. sometimes its butter smooth. But im wondering how to keep the engine butter smooth all the time....
Im not talking about the vibrations here, its the engine that seems very tight and it refuses to loosen up. I suppose some of you might have had similar xperience.
My fingers r aching to release the throttle (but im at 1820kms odo still).....

I feel bad when the engine is tight lik that. Can you guys please suggest me few tips !
I have done my 1st service at 527kms odo...

Thanks dears...

Seamus - Oh gosh... Sorry for your bitter xperience.. How old is your bike ? I had similar probs with rectifier when i was having my pulsar 150cc. I think this problem arises after certain time as the bike gets old(I suppose). Anyhow, since you have changed both your battery n rectifier there shouldn\\\\\\\'t be any problem henceforth.... Good you had a friend who gave you helping hand(Toe) in middle of nowhere....

While coming back from Lonavla, on heading home, my pulsar broke down in the middle of the highway while cruising at speeds of 110kmph. It behaved as if there was no fuel. Tried doing down shift but that did not bring bike back to life. Took it to the side of the road. Called my friend (who owns 200NS) to that spot. I just didnt feel right leaving the bike there.
Now till he comes i was looking for nearby mechanic, who could sort the issue. The mechanic first said that the battery is Dead. I dont know how coz i purchased it 15days back. And after he putting other battery, the bike took self but didnt give current to the plugs. Till that time friend had come and since his bike is also same model, mechanic tried his CDI in my bike. And the bike started. Now unfortunately the shops out there didnt have CDI of NS. So since we found out the fault, mechanic told us to take the bike simply buy a new CDI and put it, so we put all the parts back together and towed the bike till my home. Took rest.

Next day bought a CDI for 900rs. Put in my friends bike to test, it was working. So now put in mine and since battery was dead we pushed start it. The bike came alive and then again stopped within 10 seconds. Again tried push starting but this time bike didnt respond. Took it to my trusted mechanic. Says NEW CDI got spoilt. Says gotta check wiring, and meanwhile gave the battery to charging. Battery wala says battery is not taking charging and it is completely dead. Luckily i had warranty so immediately went to the exide dealer and got replacement.
How ever after getting new battery and second new CDI we tried starting, the bike started without any fuss. I was happy and ready to leave the garage. How ever the battery wala insisted on checking the rectifier, we got to know that at above 5-7k rpms the bike is generating excess of voltage meaning overcharging. The Stock condition should give anywhere between 13-14.5volt, my 200NS was making 18volt. Put my friends rectifier and checked, it was 13.xx volts.

Luckily i didnt leave without checking the rectifier or else i would have been in this situation again in future, in a never ending cycle of changing Battery and CDI\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s.

Finally had to replace rectifier as well. All in all my 200ns broke down in the middle of the road. Rectifier making crazy volts and blowing up the battery and these two going kaput blows the CDI as well (twice).

Now it makes sense why some people dont like the idea of travelling long distances on bike.

Cost of Rectifier 700rs.
Cost of CDI 900rs x 2
Mechanic charges 250 + Highway mechanic 150

Almost 3500rs just coz of faulty rectifier.
An extremely rare incident, A more commonly known issue is \"blown fuse\"... never happened with me though, but my friends did.

First took 390 test drive in Marathahalli KTM.( I know its apple and orange i prefered 390 for ABS/good tyres and Powerful engine)suddenly got crazy about duke 390 not only because of the engine power but the style weight ABS tyres and cornering ability it had( i could feel all this when i was driving the bike)The bike was simply superb and i never seen such a powerful bike so far. was saving money to buy 390.But again my mind was asking me to go for 200NS. so just like that i went for test drive last friday.what a bike it is. such a beautiful bike(didnt like the style that much when i see it in internet/youtube or while seeing in traffic but when i saw it in person and i sat on it, i fell in love) from bajaj and the engine is amazing. My need for bike is 22 days office commute(currently in Marathahalli and planning to move to bommanahalli in coming months so from bommanahalli to Vydehi 20 20 Kms 2 ways daily ride) and monthly once or once in two months trip to my home in Nilgiris in ooty taluk 240 kms from bangalore oneway. So please let me know if 200NS will fulfil my needs.and i need 200NS with MRF tyres. Please let me know where i can get the same(Reason: When i took test drive in Khivraj motors last week near Hoodi ITPL. i was driving around 60-70 kmph, suddenly had to apply breaks. as always i just applied 70% fron break and 30% back break-no hard breaking. back tire almost came to sideways and almost went skidding luckily i released the breaks and bike came to normal.. ).Any other suggestions are welcome and i am planning to book in Jan end.
If you can compromise on comfort than you can go for Duke 390 or RC 390. Its Dynamic is flawless, overall its really tempting bike but 200 NS personality on versatility is just irresistible. Thats why i choose NS over Duke and i\'m proud of my decision. As told by other \'it\'s a matter of mind and heart\'.

Keep your bike below 90-100kmph till 2500kms, after that do a oil change to motul 5100. Am sure your smoothness will come back, not completely though. Pulsar and smoothness dont go hand in hand. The tightness you talking about is there in every new engine and will reduce as the KMs build up. I personally Like Pulsars always for its raw power at affordable price, hence for smoothness i put on my tight helmet every time i want to rev it hard ignoring the noise of the engine and enjoying sheer power.

My bike is almost 2 years old. Run only 13k kms. I hope there is no future kharcha now.

Update: My Headlight isnt working and the speedometer shows 0kmph.

Get those fluctuations rectified at first service. There were no fluctuations in my bike even before 1st service. Now have 1.2k rpm at idle initially and 1.4k idle in heavy traffic with no fluctuations.

Hi everyone
will be greatly thankful if anybody clears my confusion, need to Change the eurogrips (still) havent bought the bike but the first thing which my \\\\\\\"Phoenix \\\\\\\" deserves
is more than a Euro grip

so decided on these

Front-Pilot Sporty,Pilot Street Radial,MRF revz fc

Rear -MRF REVZ C (150/60),REVZ S

for front i will choose based on availability and cost

and for rear (mainly need suggestion for these as the search function in the forum is not working at least for me)Will the REVZ C be a direct fit on the p200NS ,will it avoid contact with the rear swing arm and along the circumference of the tyre, does the tyre hugger need to be removed to accomodate the REVZ C

Many Thanks

Its a direct fit no hassle, looks is awesome and grip too but from 130 to 150 section might be an issue though i\'m not using it but heard its lighter than eurogrip which\'ll compenasate performance.

As i was expecting, i have first quality issue with Bajaj, the rear disc brake pedal bent in the morning by just a slight touch of my house\'s main door. Looks like its made of soft aluminium, i just unbolted the lever and straighten it with a hammer. DONE. This is the quality they are giving in a lakh rupee bike. Wow!!!
In my CD100, CBZ, karizma, these parts were made of hard steel.

Hi Folks,

This is my first post in xBhp. Im looking for a better set of tyres for my 200NS as Im not satisfied with stock Eurogrip Tyres. They are skidding even at low speeds for no reason at all. Due to these tyres Im missing the pure Thrill that my boy offers me. I decided to wait for 5k Kms before the upgrade. Now my boy finished his 5k and he is in need of better shoes. My requirments are Excellent grip and Good Performance. Please, suggest me some good set of tyres which offers a good Grip-Performance Balance. Im confused with the brands like MRF, Michilen and CEAT.

Michelin and Pirelli are the best but the pricing is on higher side as they are of international standard.Local brand like MRF and Ceat does the job well too with better VFM. I just change my rear to Ceat Zoom Xl and right now all i can say about it that right after i took it for a ride i can feel the traction is better than stock one boosting up you confidence. You can go through some page to know about MRF RevS.

Hey Thanks mate, for your quick reply. I made an enquiry at a local Tyre Dealers about the CEAT and MRF Tyres. What they got are

MRF Zapper Q 130/70 17\\\\\\\' - 3100 Rs
CEAT Zoom TL 120/80 17\\\\\\\' - 2500 Rs

I just need to know am I missing any other Tyres in MRF and CEAT. Im even impressed with the Michelin Pilot Sporty (http://motorcycle.michelin.in/twproduct/findProduct/moreProduct/184) Tyre.

Any help on this is really appreciated.

I had given my bike for the first paid service. After parking it for about 1 hour, came back to notice coolant and black oil underneath the bike. The coolant was dripping from the pipe. Is it an excess coolant drain pipe or something else. Also the oil being black in colour, i assume it chain lube rather than engine oil . Please advice me on the same.
