  • Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences

Congrats and all the best. First importantly drive with sane speed and wear helmet with strap locked..!!!
While the PDI is so huge, the dealer usually might say the same "Sir, the bike has already been checked for all these PDI (Available on web) before it hit our showroom). Well, we got to believe it

    1. Dont accept if bike comes with Euro Tyres
    2. Try to pick your bike immediately after paying cash
    3. Dont let dealer to get the registration. You better travel to the RTO center and get the registration with dealer known broker or agents
    4. Ask them to fill some fuel atleast >1litre

For Run-in, check older threads. Simply put, if you want to be so stringent in conditioning your bike, follow what manual says. Bajaj's recommended approach is not easy(Speed limit for each gear), but will fine tune...you may get a knocking sound esp at 5th and 6th. Just increase your throttle a bit...But on practice, you can do it.

    Otherwise, simply try not to go beyond 3.5k rpm(6th gear - ~50kmph) till 1000 and 4.5k rpm (6th gear - ~65kmph)till 2000
    Thanks for Reply ..

Dude. you are from bangalore only right? which showroom are you buying from?

Here you no need to goto RTO at all. pay 200 or 300 extra and take your bike home. they will register it for you and give the number in a week or two.

That's cool, but without seeing the bike and verifying, how can they do this?. Is this under law?. I have not heard of such..

The showroom guy will have all the necessary forms.
He will take one form and scratch it with pencil or something and the numbers will be imprinted in paper.
They just give that to RTO office and get the work done.

Trust me i bought my bike 1 month before only and i dont know where the RTO also. While filling online form, they just asked me which RTO i wish to go with(like 01,02.....08).. i selected indranagar(03).. job is done and i came with my bike happily. after exactly 5 working days, they sent my number to my mobile.

            Note :
i have heard stories like people pay 500-1000 for getting temporary numbers till they register their bikes and take delivery.
but for me its done like this. I just wrote FOR REG using marker and started driving. Showroom guys told i can ride for 15 days or so without registering just by having insurance paper and other bike papers.

NIKZCOOL guided me to get from infant bajaj which is also part of Khivraj bajaj, I bought from Khivraj itself.

I bought from Khivraj Bajaj, in Chennai.

But I had to go through all formalities. As well, I had to take it from the corresponding RTO to which the showroom in the area was covered. But your case sounds different. But however, I got the number the same day post the RTO formalities.

Even that was new for me dude I am from ooty. In my place and all they will see the vehicle and need solid local address proof to register it.
Here i didnt have any local address proof except HR letter and company ID card. Paid 150 rs for getting notary things done and 200 rs for registering bike without you and your bike's presence.

It took 1 week for me to get the number just because i bought my bike on friday and monday no person in showroom to take the document to RTO and they went to RTO by wednesday only it seems. thursday i got my number i guess.

                  My registration was super cool,
I got temp number which I used for 15days, then in jan I called infant motors and said register my vehicle, after 3 days I got the number And after 20 days I collected rc from the showroom.
I didn't visit any rto, no extra charge, no hassle.

                  Sent from my HTC One_M8

Same here, i didnt visit RTO and no hassle but they collected 150 for notary because i didnt have any address proof they asked for.

200 they collected to bribe it seems(it may be bribe for showroom guys itself ) but this 200 rs bribe didnt matter for me because i got the numbers in a week(from the day of registering it took oly 2 days to know the number) and i didnt spend money on getting temporary registration.

number came within a week and RC smart card delivered in 15 days and directly came to my office as i had given my office address in the mail cover.

I did book the 200NS yesterday. Dealer agreed to put teflon coat (thanks siezes.s) but couldnt convince him for center stand. Also, the available bike was with eurogrip tires. After some discussion, dealer agreed to change it to MRF while delivery. I told him that I will not pick the bike without MRF's. Lets see if he keep his word.

I do have couple of questions,
                      1. one bike on display had the key in so I tried to start it but seems like battery was nearly dead. Dealer said this because of long time sitting of bike in showroom and it will be alright once you push the bike for 15-20 ft. I heard that these are maintenance free batteries with no recharge required. Specially with no kickstart, I am little bit scared on this point. Can someone tell me if its normal?

                      2. I have a~600 km roundtrip planned from 3 April. I have only 1-2 week for run in period. What are the minimum things that I should do before the trip?

Thanks a ton for the help.

Pulsar RS200 seems to be very exciting but I am not much in to bike with fairing. I dont see difference between carb and FI is a reason to decide on a bike. ABS will be a huge boon for sure but I am willing to let it go for fairing. Thanks for the suggestion though.
Hey,, no need of thanks bro, we are here for help
you had a query that you need to go for a trip on 3rd, no issues mate, I've brought my bike on 9th and till now done 600 ODO in which includes 2 days bike in garage due to rainfall(i preferred auto to office as it was raining)

You said that you live in gurgaon, try to make few trips to karol bagh for helmet, gloves, rim tapes, disk locks, etc and voila ODO readings are increased :P :P

BTW I'll prefer you to go for a trip after first service (around 550 kms ODO). Plan your speed limit around 60-65 (4-4.5 rpm) while trip .
Try to keep your speed variable

Is there anything in particular should i look before getting delivery?
Any Run-In Period tips from experienced owners ...?

Hey Guys, I wanted to check what rpm to maintain during the runin?
I maintained 4k till 600. Now I'm planning to keep it under 4.5k till 1000 kms. Then 5k till 1500 kms and 5.5k till 2000 kms and post 2k kms gradually open up each gear to higher rpms.

Also, can I push the first gear to the same rpms as the other gears or do I need to shift earlier?

Currently I'm in run-in and i used to commute at around 4K till 500 kms.
                          now I'm commuting at 4.5-5K.

regarding first gear, I don't think that 1st gear is necessary above 3.5K. I mean if you are revving the engine and throttling hard or want a good pick ahead then only you go high on 1st gear!

Don't ride it below 3K RPM (any gear). Make sure your twist the throttle gradually, don't red line it but you can do 100+ and lastly don't be so worried bro as far as i know as for NS,bajaj has really made a solid engine.
