      its possible to get 54kmpl
I used to get that much during my run in period and when I rip it contineously I get 35kmpl but I still get around 45 with mixed (sane nd insane riding)

the rules for good average are
      1. dont load the engine. that means dont ride on a higher gear at low speed. you will be opening your throttle more to reach desired speed when on load
2.dont dwell on a lower gear for too long if no load
3.donot keep cranking the throttle, accelerate gently
4.once above 45-50 stay at 6th gear and open up the throttle slowly and gently without loading the engine to increase speed
5.if engine breaking is not required, donot use it as it creates more vacuum on the pilot circuit and draws extra fuel
6.if you find yourself braking too often, you are wasting kinetic energy. declutch early and let the bike cruise till the stop. only use brakes if absoloutely necessary. also while rolling down a slope, declutch

riding upto 100kmph is also not a problem if you follow these steps
u will still get atleast 40-45kmpl.

and we hav been gifted with a super starved carburettor which has a main jet the same size as a 150cc bike so fuel efficiency isnt a problem
thats why the bike feels a bit jerky sometimes. to reduce jerking the mechanics open up the fuel screw.
fuel screw also being a gift of the CV carburettor where you donot control air, you control fuel and also without a CV carburettor it wouldnt be possible to starve it so much as the slide doesnot open if the fuel isnt enough to create sufficient vacuum

if you replace it with a variable venturi carburettor you will have to have atleast a 125size jet and performance will also increase like crazy because nothing is stopping the slide from opening. compared to the current set up that would feel like turbo charging it and you will only get 25-35kmpl

when I go on long rides I close the fuel screw about 1-2rounds depending on my mood for good average since the company has already starved it so much why not starve it more

I donot always follow these steps specially when im having fun, all these steps go straight out of my exhaust

            Hi friends,

few of us say, initial lot came with Eorugrips, and the recent ones came with MRFs. but it looks like my machine is between these two ages . My bike is just 2 months old, the front one is Eurogrip and the rear one is MRF. what amazes me is both are terrible in terms of road grip. there was a little water spill in my apartment complex and I was driving at 5 kmph and it skidded. I felt amazed that less than 1000 kilometers on ODO and the tyres feel like there is no life in them... is there any where in Hyderabad, I can exchange these with better tyres (and are R15's the best for 200NS? and whats the approx cost for both the tyres?)

Haha R15's rear is MRF which you already have. Go for michelin or perilli now.

My take with all the average talks here-

Anything above 35 is really tough to get specially after an year.

You can get 38-40+ if you pamper it too much and use it like a splendor. Better, that you would have gone for splendor then.

But, if getting below 30 get the settings checked of carb, carb diaphragm, afr screw, spark plugs etc.

Rest all depends on your riding style.

2 and a half years down the line, been using motul semi and full synthetic oil, have been getting 38-40 constantly from the bike, and done almost 25k now, not a lot I know, but I go on long rides once a month and the average speed is almost 80-100 kmph. Given the bike for servicing at the proper time intervals and also taken the AMC. I don't think it's hard to get above 35 if you take care of the bike well.
BTW off the mileage topic, Has anyone had their rear tire mudguard screw fall off? :P Yesterday night while riding back from work one of the screws came off and there was a large clanking sound, when I check it I realsied the the mudguard screw had fallen of, so I removed the mudguard completely.
I would rather be riding my bike thinking of God, than sitting in the temple thinking of my bike.

Friend i am using motul ss too but i guess the big difference lies in the fact that i like cruising at 110-120 kmph on highways, thus consuming much more fuel.

Yes, i agree that keeping it within 80-100 kmph can give you mileage of 40. :-)

Regarding mudguard screw, i had the same problem a month back and i had too removed it then. Thinking to put it back as monsoons are approaching.

110-120 kmph...... I only can wish. I did 100+ few times, hell what...... Too much of air resistance, too much, i mean it, totally uncomfortable to ride, though my bike wasn't. I at no point felt my bike stressed out or lack of control, but the engine sound was loud, plus the air blast....

That amount of air hitting my chest made it an uncomfortable trip, couldnt do that for more than 10 mins, I had to drop to 80-90kmph which felt a lot better . I tried the same route again after few days later, but the air resistance was the same...Don't know if my day was cursed with weather or it's my body that was .

I feel at 80kmph, I can cruise comfortably.less air blast, less engine sound...It seems, AIR has a lot to do with bikes other than just a CC

BTW, my mileage never dropped <42kmpl... And when I drove like a 100c, she gave 47kmpl.....

I agree with your 'air as a factor'. Where do you reside? I've done Delhi- chandigarh quite a few times, and those days with fast blowing winds are less.

I'm guessing that you are at a coastal place or nearby.
