Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
MRF tyre but will he give you revz c or revz S??Originally posted by sanjanikar View PostThanks everyone for tips.
I did book the 200NS yesterday. Dealer agreed to put teflon coat (thanks siezes.s) but couldnt convince him for center stand. Also, the available bike was with eurogrip tires. After some discussion, dealer agreed to change it to MRF while delivery. I told him that I will not pick the bike without MRF's. Lets see if he keep his word.
I do have couple of questions,
1. one bike on display had the key in so I tried to start it but seems like battery was nearly dead. Dealer said this because of long time sitting of bike in showroom and it will be alright once you push the bike for 15-20 ft. I heard that these are maintenance free batteries with no recharge required. Specially with no kickstart, I am little bit scared on this point. Can someone tell me if its normal?
2. I have a~600 km roundtrip planned from 3 April. I have only 1-2 week for run in period. What are the minimum things that I should do before the trip?
Thanks a ton for the help.

Pulsar RS200 seems to be very exciting but I am not much in to bike with fairing. I dont see difference between carb and FI is a reason to decide on a bike. ABS will be a huge boon for sure but I am willing to let it go for fairing. Thanks for the suggestion though."Riding By Passion, Wandering By Choice !!" - IceAgeOnWheels

Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
Its not about speed, you can go at 60 kmph without the rpm going above 5000. Make sure that you warm up your bike and keep the rpm below the prescribed limit until the run in period is over.Originally posted by Anudeep Nanjappa View PostGot my NS delivered today evening, so far so good

Hello xbhpians. This is my first post. I thought I would write a pre-ownership experience in my first post
The first time I saw the 200NS was around a couple of years ago and I instantly liked how the bike looked. It was stunning and to me, all other bikes looked plain or forced in comparison. It was the first bike I wanted to buy as I was never really a fan of bikes before. I had no money then and sometime later I bought a 25year old Hero Honda CD100 for 5,000Rs. I have used this bike to learn fixing mechanical parts, painting, electricals etc. I got a mechanic to do do work on the engine and I changed the tyres to Michelin Sirac Street. The bike has transformed and is really fun to ride, with cornering being particularly fun when there is no traffic on the roads.
Around October last year, I read a lot of posts on this forum and watched quite a few review videos of the 200NS and the bike just got better and better in my eyes and I decided to buy one. Since then, I have been saving money to get the bike in May. Eventhough I am 27 years old, I have been counting down the months and days until I can get the bike. Not a day goes by without thinking about the bike a few times, imagining owning it, etc.
In december, I went for a test ride of the bike. I think it was the over expectation, the almost empty fuel in the bike and the small congested route that made me feel nothing when I rode the bike. I felt disconnected from the bike. The engine was refined and the throttle responded well, but somehow I didnt feel that connection. I also went for other test rides as there were a few other bikes I was interested and I wanted to ride before making a decision.
I couldnt test ride the Honda CBR250R as the dealer said we couldnt test ride it after 5PM. The Duke 200 dealer said the same thing, but kept asking me when I was booking the bike. Sure! I will buy a bike for about 1.3Lakhs without taking a test ride.
I was interested in the TVS Apache 180 ABS. However I was only able to test ride the 160RTR. I must say, it was a fun bike and brought a smile to my face when I rode it. It felt like a more powerful, more advanced version of my bike. I was seriously in two minds now. I also liked the build quality of the Apache. The bike had nice touches like the solid aluminium gear and brake levers, aggressive looks, etc. However, the bike didnt seem like a big bike to me. 200NS has that big bike feel. I spoke to a few people who owned RTRs and they said that the bike was great, but not suitable for long trips. Since comfortable touring is something I need in addition to fun city riding, I turned back to the NS.
Then, I rode my friend's pulsar 150 for some distance and I understood the popularity of the pulsars. At first, I didnt feel much as the engine seemed smooth and disconnected from me. On my CD100, there is a raw, unrefined connection with my bike. However, as I rode, I started liking the smoothness and the engine response of the bike and I wanted to ride more and more. I realised that pulsars were different kinds of bikes and the 200NS would be along those lines. I might not feel much at first, but after a while I would fall in love with riding the bike. That is what I am thinking and I am prepared to make a bet on that.
I feel that the Apache RTR though a fun bike, might be more of the same style of riding like my current bike and the 200NS offers a different kind of feel and connection when riding and seems to be an all round, at ease performer.
Also one thing I would say is I am surprised is how deceptively quick the bike is. Sometimes, I would come across a NS at a signal and I would try to keep up if possible, but the bike just disappears ahead without a noise.
I am hoping I can buy the bike in May and also post that I took delivery of the bike.

Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
200NS is way too powerful compared to apache 160\gixxer etc.. You will only realize that true power when you twist beyond 7K RPM. Otherwise, the bike feels like a 150cc, even an FZ tries to compete with you. Dont' know how you did drive in TD. I tried TD too, but they didn't allow to drive more and faster. And yes, it is different from other Pulsar's, be in it's sound\style\performance\handling and everything except that pulsar 135 tail lightOriginally posted by OccasionalWanderer View PostCongratulations. As per the Bajaj Manual, (Also if you check your bike's RPM reading at the suggested speeds)Originally posted by Exattic View PostHey Guys, I wanted to check what rpm to maintain during the runin?
I maintained 4k till 600. Now I'm planning to keep it under 4.5k till 1000 kms. Then 5k till 1500 kms and 5.5k till 2000 kms and post 2k kms gradually open up each gear to higher rpms.
Also, can I push the first gear to the same rpms as the other gears or do I need to shift earlier?
<1000Kms = 48kmph@~3.5K RPM (4K Max = 55Kmph)
>1K-2K Kms- = 54kmph@~4K RPM (4.5K Max = 65Kmph)
These are the recommended RPM range by Bajaj.
You can do +/- few hundred RPMs without any worry. But 5.5K RPM(6th gear) which is ~75Kmph in your run-in time is too much to take. Please control your eagerness. Don't try trial\error method. Any improper run-in can ruin the quality of engine and can put with lots of vibes post that.....

Are you really saying this?.Originally posted by Tanzing Sherpa View PostDon't ride it below 3K RPM (any gear). Make sure your twist the throttle gradually, don't red line it but you can do 100+ and lastly don't be so worried bro as far as i know as for NS,bajaj has really made a solid engine.
100Kmph is about ~7000 RPM, which is too high IMO, no matter at how minimal rate you increase your throttle to get there...
Only Sudden speed bursts are recommended by many experts....Once a while..Last edited by jbm_guy; 03-20-2015, 01:24 PM.

Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
I agree with him. If NS is driven below 6000 RPM it functions like a performance commuter than a performance bike(but still with a good Punchier and progressive speed), that is the reason NS is giving above 45 KMPL for some people.Originally posted by jbm_guy View Post200NS is way too powerful compared to apache 160\gixxer etc.. After 7000 RPM only the we will come to know what NS is capable of doing.
one small difference between DUKE and NS since they share kind of same engine.
DUKE is having all its power at its lower and mid range so its more aggressive and quick in acceleration compared to NS.
NS is very linear, you can rev it till the end of its power band, which means you always have some juice left in your right wrist
which is good thing and it gives confidence when you over take long trucks or any vehicles.
Even i knew this as just information before buying the bike but once i got mine, i really felt the power when i drive on highways and even in city traffic.

Even i have read the same in many other places.Originally posted by Tanzing Sherpa View PostDon't ride it below 3K RPM (any gear). They say that modern solid engines doesnt need break in period and some people say they already come with factory break in
i am not sure though.
But atleast for our satisfaction we can follow 50% of the thumb rules till we cross 1500 KM

Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
Yes bro, there are other controversial theory about red lining right away for precise setting of piston and for something for bore & stroke but who's ready to do that? Every one wants to be on a safe side.Originally posted by srisathiyan89 View PostI agree with him. After first servicing it's okies. But I said gradually, no sudden acceleration. But I've ripped my throttle many times during that period. Odo 1400 and its still fresh as a flower. Do it on your own risk, I won't be liable.Originally posted by jbm_guy View Post200NS is way too powerful compared to apache 160\gixxer etc.. No one will recommend that before 1st servicing. I would recommend to follow up the manual for personal satisfaction.Originally posted by sieze.s View PostIs it so?
