If you had to do panic braking then most likely you were running really close to the car in front of you (no offense). Every rider feels that riding at 100+ kmph is normal and safe for them till god forbid, luck runs out and you find yourself in a ditch on the side of the road along with the mangled remains of your bike spread out across the road. Not that i would ever wish such a thing to any of the riders here or anywhere.. but more or less your description about your riding style by itself gives you an idea why you got yourself into such an unwanted situation at the first place. AGATT (All Gears At All Time) is a mandatory thing one should invest on especially for high speed runs.

Also learn the art of gear/engine braking along with applying brakes, it helps you in:

    * Better stopping power in a shorter distance
    * increases the life of the brake pads
    * Tire don't lock up or your bike starts fish tailing as the rear tire is still rotating instead of locking up when panic braking.

If i am correct a lot of NS riders are shifting to MRFs which offer better grip. Do you by any chance enjoy burnouts? If that's the case then your tire will lose its grooves in no time mate. Based on the recommended grade from your manufacturer, you can try out the Motul 7100 FS oil.

    Cheers,
    +1 to that

and @spknair, i may have misunderstood as racing but you were referring to braking. yes you might have been riding too close to the vehicle in front and that too because of rain your visibility must have been low. But, ..........., people already have a bad impression about bikers. they say, we are irresponsible, hooligans, dangerous on the road etc, etc, when most of them cagers or pedestrians or those on their little mopeds themselves don't know or have proper traffic sense or the sense of responsibility. most of them don't know what lanes on the road are for. cyclists and rikshaws and auto rikshaws anD even four wheelers to a tipper try to dodge a small pothole without warning. most of them have no sense of space, they will try to fit a lorry on footpath if they can. most of them dont have the sense of signalling before changing lane or slowing down. they don't have the sense to dip their lights when they are turning on the turn signal.

so it upon us to atleast follow such practices and encourage safe riding. Pulsar already has a bad name as a bike for hooligans.

but, i think you have already seen all such things and know how to deal with such.

    sorry for the OT.

But my chain is more noisy than previous even after lubricating

How many people using HIDs here? (without projector)
        Any reflector fading issues?
I usually get the chain cleaned and lubed at svc itself every 1000km or so, so I haven't faced any problem like that. they should be good for 20k if maintained properly. a worn chain will give you noise and bike also feels a little bit jerky. gear shifts become hard and noisy as well.

HID without project is plain annoying to the oncoming traffic, think of this way, how do you feel when an oncoming car does not dip the lights and they have HIDs, i am sure most of us have faced the problem. Get a HID in the range of 4000 to 5000 color temp, better visibility and less irritating. a 55watt HID shouldn't have issues with reflector but projector is recommended.

Any info about K&N filters will be very much appreciated!

K&N, some say the model for NS is released and some say it hasn't but, if you ask me, apart from sound there's no other gain from a K&N unless you rejet / replace the carburetor with a bigger one.

my troble from handlebar switches continue, saturday night aamby valley to pune- headlight switches off as and when it fancies.

today morning coming form pune to aamby valley city -- riding at around 80-90 kmph suddenly the engine died. stopped on the side of road noticed engine overheat and battery low flashing simultaneously. switched off... wondering what happened checked oil level- ok .... checked coolant level- ok... tried starting it again -- ok got it same engine kill switch problem... was stranded on the side of road for 15-20 mins frantically switching it on-off a hundred times... then it came to life... and rode to aamby valley..

somehow i was avoiding going to service center before second servicing, but it seems a visit is unavoidable.

^^ are you considering change of switch gear right ? ... Or at least open it up and sand up the terminals inside the switch. Guess our bikes do not have magnetic switches like 220 . clean terminals should solve your problem unless there is a short circuit of sorts in your wiring harness

Have you by any chance tried or installed a hid or made some modification to the wiring of the rhs switch to make the headlight switch on even when engine is turned off? If so, there might be your problem. and also make sure that nothing is obstructing the radiator fan.

K&N + carb rejetting or replacing + free flow exhaust = increase in max. 2 Bhp. K&N only = Bike running very lean resulting in issues creeping up later on.

I went to the svc..the guy there told that he would install the performance filter and do some"tuning"..They might be refering the rejetting right??I don.t have cash to buy any exhaust. Will it harm my ns if i get this filter and tuning....??I saw the filter...its a conical one..black in colour..and small..fits in a palm..has the k&n logo n al...

I wouldn't recommend using a filter on a bike that is less than 5k KMS. First off, you gain nothing *drastic* apart from the slightly aggressive exhaust note. But that's one, using it on a brand new engine has different effect altogether especially if the bike is under warranty. Installing a newer filter will increase the lean the mixture (at least in most cases) and then won't allow the engine to set properly. And moreover the performance bump is not all that significant, it's just a very minor bump, I call it the psedo-feel. So at least for 5k let the bike run in stock.

                        Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                        The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

                        THE END

yes, will inform the service center manager. warranty claim.

i think these are magnetic type switches only. otherwise it won't be backlit type, the user manual does not even have the wiring diagram. the service manual wiring diagram is in parts and it does not show any BCU, so may be or may not be.

I'm not planning to change my air filter to an aftermarket one..but a question just out of curiosity, these BMC air filters designed for KTM Duke 200 should be suitable for NS too ?
