Don't know whether this is the right place to ask my question or not.
I got screwed a few days ago. My bike's rear tyre got ruptured by something on the road, while returning back home from office. The rear rim too got bent, and tail lamp got damaged when an autorickshaw crashed in from behind. I claimed for a payment from my insurance provider, for which the surveyor surveyed the bike today at the service center. He's saying that I'll get a claim for the the rim and the tail lamp (amounting to an estimated 5K by the service center), but not for the tyres. Now I want to know which tyre should I go in for? A default TVS Eurogrip is costing around 2.25K, while I want to settle in for the MRF Revz which, I expect to be around 3.25K. Since I use my bike for daily commute to office (50 kms daily) with my brother, I do not want the soft compound tyres as these will wear out much sooner. What you guys say? Any other suggestion regarding the tyre? I don't want to spend too much on Pirelli or such, as i really do not expect any tyre to last because of regular punctures. I need to get the tyres in the next 3-4 days as I've been quoted 6 days for the bile repairs to get complete.

The bent rim, which is giving way to leakage of air from the tyre.

The ruptured tyre. I'm being told by my brother, who took it to the service center that the object pierced it through the side wall of the tyre.

how much better is dunlop tuff grip 140/70 than stock eurogrips ? also that petronas engine oil, is it really good ? cos it's very cheap just 300-400 Rs as per you

You sure it goes faster and not just feels faster ? Somebody else here did the same you did above.. and then few days later he reported that the mod didn't really do anything to improve actual acceleration if im not wrong.

The dunlop tuff grip is a favourite with cbr250, fz and 220 owners here changing from stock tyres.. its better than all three stock tyres. Medium compound, but have really nice grip. Does not get punctured easily.... only downside is the rear tends to become a bit bumpy and you need to be careful when the tyre is new. After say 500 kms when the upper layer is runbbed off, it starts giving grip.... not in the league of pirelli ut definately better than all mrf tyres available except revz-s and revc-c. And its cheap. Lasts long. Its like fit at and forget it... and regarding petronas, well i changed from full synthetic motul 7100 to petronas semi synthetic at half cost amd still i can vouch that petronas is much better... maybe it is a case of the oil getting well with ns engine technically coz the r15 owners are saying its same as 7100... the difference is clearly felt in duke and ns engines. More silent engine now. The mrp is 430 but selling price is 380. It is new in market so they are now giving the best quality stuff to lure customers. The full synthetic is also coming soon. :-)

I appreciate your quick response Rahulbarik, thanks. So, you guys suggest Dunlop Tuff Grip? I've just come across the MRF Revz C (the one on Duke 200), looks appealing to me (maybe, I won't be able to fit this one due to the mud guard ). This one has a profile 150/60-17 against the current 130/70-17 of the Eurogrip and 140/70-17 of the Dunlop Tuff Grip as suggested by Rahulbarik. I would like to know whether there would be some issues, if I change the original tyre width of 130 to say 140 or 150 (maybe, this won't be possible)? I am able to see one Revz Tubeless 140/60-17 this one too.

Well revz-c can be fitted on ns... i have seen somewhere a revz-c with tyre hugger on maybe on xbhp only and regarding tuff grip its available in both 130/80 and 140/70 and also 120/80. And about revz-s, well i used it for 17k and it was awesome.... but simply gives up on bad roads and sand. If you are a kind of person who is is a commuter and into touring with a decent amount of testing your skills i would anyday suggest the tuffgrip. But if you are a purebred hooligan then u either go for pirelli, revz-c or revz-s

Thanks again, Rahul. No, I'm not a hooligan, and don't want to test my skills too, I just ride my bike plain and straight in the speeds upwards of 90 whenever I get an opportunity to. These Delhi roads and traffic don't let you drive any faster than that during peak office hours.

yes its fast, 0-60 is a difference but not alot.
but 0-100 is way faster, trust me.
and i know the member you talking about, he also loved the mod, but he after few days found it too undergeared for highway rides, may be for cruising 120+
and over taking in 5th and 6th is too good at high speeds. in stock gearing, its very hard to pull from 50-80 in 6th, current set up does it quite fast.
and you can even roll the bike from standstill with out giving gas.

I'm running dunlop 140/70-17 for 1k kms now. Trust me it's worth it.

And I was the one who went for the 13T first. Yes it was way too undergeared (6th gear: 98 km/h at 7k rpm and 145 km/h at revlimit, which was a no-no for the tourer in me) and I went back to stock. But now, I'm back to 13T again. The bigger rear tyre gives an effect equivalent to overgearing the bike by 1 tooth. So my new ratios are somewhere equivalent to 41/14. This means easy roll off from standstill, highway rideability and good acceleration from 60+ in 5th & 6th gear.

Chain sprocket kit changed two days back! The SVC clearly said it's left to us if we want to get it done with them or elsewhere. And the last sentence they gave you is bull crap indeed.
Our SVCs let us use our own engine oils, sprockets, headlamp bulbs, horns and stuff. Third service: Warranty continued. HID was installed and the executive saw it. I posted here about it once too. I'm a happy customer!

Non availability of spares is not a case with just one. I have two (infact three, one doesn't do service for the NS anymore, just sells it. Has shifted it's services for NS to its KTM counterpart) service centers in my vicinity. All belong to the same owner. And they all are short of spares. Everytime I need something, they don't have it in stocks. Not I'm waiting with my fingers crossed for the rear rim and the tail lamp. I think you can ask some known garage wala to get the spares for you. I think they can get it from the SVC. IMO, the chain kit costs 1500 inclusive of service charges. I got it changed at around 13.5K kms only. When I asked them why did it get damaged so fast (even before the first year got over), the guy said you wouldn't have lubricated the chain, otherwise it goes for anything around 30K kms, and I was like , as I lubricate it everytime I wash my bike (every week).
