I have doubt that bro.. there are lot of people at that age who still love to ride!! ..
In my case my father loves to borrow my jacket and helmet to ride ns and on good days he gives me car keys to go college while he uses ns to go to office :P
And secondly he is a speed lover like me
and completely enjoys the ride :P
The only thing he complains about is the turning radius and nothing else!!

If you feel closely, you can feel a jerk, i.e sudden burst of acceleration at 8.5k rpm. (OT. Duke 390 feels exactly the same, but at a higher magnitude though) 220f feels like a proper 220 cc bike at low revs. The older generation pulsars were renowned for their low end torque. Having this knowledge, make your pick. The teenager-ish behavior of NS or the mature 30 year old tourer-like behavior of the 220f.
@broken87 : Yeah really I read :-| till that page! @Aditya N Bharadwaj : Both of yours observations are right. By the way I explained my riding preferences it seems P220ns is not a right choice. Even if I do ride as it need to be ridden, in Bangalore traffic it doesn't seem practically feasible. But I don't like the looks of 220F its ruled out.
I may never exploit the full potential of P220ns, but as per your experiences how does its low end torque performance compared to say P150 or any other 150cc bikes. is it difficult to manage? Please clarify.

nono, low end torque isn't problematic, it works well enough even within 3.5k-5k ( though riding below 4k is not the way to ride NS imo), but when u ride NS you gotta realize that it's true potential lies in upper rev range, it's a high revving machine. Street fighter isn't just a name on it, it actually provides that sort of feel, a different ride quality than other bikes. While you may be going at moderate or slow speeds on 5th/6th gears, halting, then picking up, for that changing through many gears cos otherwise the bike wouldn't pull well, or you could abuse the clutch. All this may put you off. idk, I'm saying all this cos I observed that some new riders have had trouble adjusting to all this. You're still gonna have a lot of fun with NS man, who knows.. may be NS will teach you how ride it hard and awaken the racer boi inside you lolol.

ofc man, there are numerous aged people who ride hard, rev up their engines till redline. I only meant about @sngmk as it appears from his post that he is a sane rider, doesn't wanna go hard on the engine or doesn't like to go at speed etc.
I spotted aged people riding our king of commuters, the Splendor, are especially the ones riding it hard and pushing it to the limit, just to keep up on the highways you know, or if late for work and stuff.

Guys, how is your experience with Bajaj Service Center near Mekri Circle , Bangalore?
In actuality, the normal thing is what happens to you, ie the coolant level not decreasing, what would be truly abnormal is that the level drops, and I'm not saying it is uncommon, I'm just saying it is abnormal that the coolant level drops. The only three reasons that I can imagine for it to drop are:

            1) The coolant is of poor quality, with a low boiling temperature and thus evaporates after some sessions of spirited riding where it reaches or surpasses its boiling temperature.

            2) There is a leak somewhere in the cooling circuit, be it to the outside (which would be the less worse) or to the inside (which would be potentially catastrophic).

            3) The coolant has gone through more than its lifespan either in years of use (commonly 2) or kilometers of use.

Hope it helps bring you peace of mind on the matter, have a good day.

              Hi Friends

The replacement will cost around 1800/- as i cant only get the chain, i need to replace the sprockets as well which are good. I told themthe bike has done only 13.5k KMS, but as usual they never listen to you, it is never the problem with them, the problem is always with the user. FE less than 30 is too low. How are you measuring the FE? Reverse to Reserve or Full tank method?

Some checks you could do from your end
                - Fill from a reputed petrol bunk. Preferably company owned company operated or shell.
                - Maintain recommended tyre pressure
                - Don’t lug the engine (below 2.5-3k)
                - Set idling to 1.5-1.8k rpm
                - Make sure chain is lubed
                - Make sure you are not resting your foot on the rear brake pedal

As for the oil, 2000 may be too soon for replacement. See the manufacturer recommended interval.

Have you had the engine temperature warning flash till now? If not, rest assured that the coolant and the cooling system are fine.
If there was a problem, the fan would be on all the time, and you would feel the heat from the bike.

It's a mineral oil. Try changing to semi synthetic motul 5100. Your oil must be gone. There's no other reason I can think of right now. Please don't follow the manual. It says the next oil change is at 10k kms which we all know is not true.
Apart from that, get the chain adjusted and lubed.

Well P150 doesn't need as many gear changes as NS in traffic as far as I know. But make no mistake, you can't have half the fun on P150 as that on NS. The other 150cc commuters have good low end torque to AID commuting. R15 has even lesser low end torque compared to NS. It's got the same characteristics of the NS's engine, i.e makes power at very high rpms. CBR150? Well, no comments

talking of new issues, somebody earlier says his bike emits strong burning smell.

today morning while coming to aamby valley from pune when i stopped at lonavala for regular sutta break, i noticed very very strong burning smell from my parked bike then i noticed closely there was even smoke/fumes... from the left side of bike near the area where exhaust pipe meets the exhaust can i.e. underside of gearbox. i analyzed for quite some time then thought may be some oil from chain found its way to silencer and is burning... i don't know.
Had the exact same problem of fumes from the exact same location 3 times.... and trust me i was running a dry chain.... problem is something else.... thick white smoke from the bike and i abondoned the bike in fear of a fire.... it was so thick smoke that i couldn't see my bike... there was oil all over the exhaust but its engine oil... not chain lube at al

That is normal with NS. I got mine changed at 14000k around a month ago. The noise all due to chain got retired. I really don't have any idea of any aftermarket chain. Also i had seen the same with duke. One of the duke 200 owner got his chain and sprockets changed at 13.5 k odo. Yes the chain can run more if we keep it cleaning and lubing every 700 - 1000 kms and every 500 kms in rainy season.
