It's tamed under 5k but turns into a true monster as soon as it hits higher revs and has a FE which can put a150cc to Shame. Its total vfm, believe me if i was replying to your post on my lap i would have given a full ride review with minute details of the bike. You'll love owning it.

A happy and satisfied owner.

P.s. though I'm only 3k old on the odo, but people here have done good 25ks without any major problem. It's a notch above its other siblings when it comes to quality.

Thanks!

Apart from performance, is the engine smooth like Japanese bikes? Any vibrations? Also, what economy can I expect in city riding? I am not a Rev crazy guy, change gears at 4k and get 35 to 40 on FZ. Please reply when you sit with a laptop
I am not much interested in performance, just want it to be there for speeding once in a while on highway.

Thanks. Looks like NS gives same mileage as FZ, which is awesome considering so much extra power!

You'll be disappointed on this front, even the sanest of NS are nothing less of blenders at mid range revs. But this is in respect to the Japanese bikes. Other wise i have learned to live with it or rather i would say can't live without it. I use to own a Honda unicorn before this, it was a good ride, perfect torque for the cities and good for cruising on highways but it always lacked that response, that "talks back to me" feel, may be i was looking for a peppy ride, or simply something more exciting.
IMHO Japanese bikes are tamed pets who would simply listen to you. They have all the refinement you'll be looking for but no rawness to them. I guess i liked it that way. I was bored with the Honda refinement, after a certain period it loses its appeal but then that's me.

If you plan to change gears at 4k, you would definitely get FE above 40, i have got 57 at max and 38 at minimum. On an
Average i get 40+ on daily commuting style. (60% highway and 40% city) with 6k shifts and sometimes redlining.

Hope it helps.

hmm, front suspension issue really ? you could be right there, My bike has had 2 minor falls. and one accident where the rims were bent. The mechanics at the SVC never said anything about the front forks. But it does feel like the bike transfers all the jerks to me. There are times when other bikers on the road would go past me, as I would maintain a slower pace due to the uneven road surface, not like potholes but unven.. if u got me. So i feel every bit of that through my handle bars. I'm not sure if it's normal in NS. A friend of mine said it's due to the fact I don't always keep my back straighened up while riding. Anyways, How to detect if there is really an issue with front suspension of my NS ? easy to tell ? Don't like to visit SVC much.
Also, I will probably see a Doctor soon, but it's unlikely that anything will come up in the scans.
Where are you from?

The general feedback on mouthshut about this bike is poor, but here I find it's good (couldn't go through this full thread, so may have missed). Has anyone seen those reviews? Apart from the paper specs and first ride experience, how does the quality speak in the laung term? I have known previous pulsars to start ageing pretty soon. Is this bike different?

Edit: I currently ride my first bike, FZ 16, which I bought more than 4 years back. I am 5'6" with 58 kg body

If u ride the ns like u said below 4k u'll get easily 45+... anything less ould mean either a chnge in riding style is needed or fuel problem or bike tuning.... this bike gives INSANE mileage at times and u'll get killed for sharing those kind of data over here so i am not going to share it

Hmm. So all in all - the only issue seems to be refinement, from my standpoint. That should easily be judged during the test ride.

Yup, only test ride can give you the idea. My friend's NS is constantly giving milage between 38-40 Kmpl (he rips the bike real hard). I bet after the Test ride, you would settle down for this VFM package. If you want more refinement, then spend more and take the YAM R15/CBR150 - brilliantly refined, but compromises on power/performance. Test ride all the bikes, I would say.

lol, yeah ppl don't believe the mileage figures given by this machine. it's incredible. Btw, I've felt I get better FE when riding over 5k-6k RPM usually, not touching 5th and 6th gear much.. than riding slow and below 4k with constant gear shifts.
How's my engine life going to be if I keep riding it like it's a superbike ? you know like maintaining 6k+ rpms usually.

you could say the word refinement may be, there are bits and pieces in NS that should be worked upon by Bajaj to eliminate body vibrations, which is the only real flaw in this bike it is criticised for. Other than that it's engine is surprisingly refined as fk. I found the sweetest spot in the rev range is between 5k-6k, Just enough torque and power on tap. That's where the fun starts and it's limited to 10,500 RPM. You may feel the vibrations when redlining in first 3 gears, 4th gear and over you won't feel much (if any) vibrations.

.
I used to go bang bang on my bike just after taking out of showroomand just from the word go abusing it like anything.... wheelies every now and then, maintaining 140 over ling stretches on the highway, stunting, harsh downshifts like directly oming down to 2nd gear fom 6th from arond 75 to brake late and all this stuffs... so now at 17k kms my clutch needs change and engine is very rough.... but still it has the same performance.... only mileage dropped to 26kmol for the same riding style which earlier gave 38 tht is full time bang bang... and if i ride it sensibly for mileage it still gives 38kmpl with a burnt clutch..... this is amazing.... only possible with a ns.., i am in love with the engine chasis combo but dont like the rest of the bike.... its the most forgiving bike i have ever ridden.... hats off to bajaj for pulling out such a chasis

• Re: Pulsar 200 NS acceleration issue

Falling to the right may be due to the way the body reacts to the skid. Try pointing the front tyre in the direction of the skid - this might help you recover from it. There is no unequal weight distribution (from left to right) on the NS that would cause such an issue.

Before you see why you are falling to the right, you might want to see why you are skidding in the first place.
- Are you driving too fast?
- Are your tyres worn out?
- In the surface loose or wet? (Sand/Gravel/Slush)
- Are you using too much rear brake? (The most important factor in my opinion)

The next piece of advice might be controversial, but take the bike to an empty ground or parking lot and try emergency braking. Having a skid and fall here will be much less dangerous than on the road. And try to wear as much safety gear as possible.[/QUOTE]

thank u for the advice is the main reason for my skidding is using to much presure on the front brake
i dont know y my bike skids

when i fell i observed there is no sand/gravel/ slush
i absorved many times that when i try to use emergency braking my handle bar shakes

i depend 80% on front braking

my tyres are not worneout they are still pretty good except the rare which i replaced 2 months earlier with air bubles in the tire ( company replaced with new one)

and yes at the time of the both accidents i drive fast one is at the speed of 80 km/h and the second at 68km/h
and at the third incident i was dead slow at 10 km/h i was parking my vehicle

i tried the advice which u said that taking my vehicle to an open ground and do emergency breaking what i noticed is my front try skids alot

• Re: Pulsar 200 NS

Hey guys..

Am pretty new to the forum.. just thought i will share my brief experience on my NS..

Though i love riding bikes..never got an opportunity to own one.. I am like 27 now and would have hardly ridden 200 kms in my whole life .but have driven only cars extensively ... ..infact i hve never before felt like owning one bike..atleast those which are there in the indian market.. mostly we had only commuter bikes and the rest like Ninjas were too pricey.. was never a fan of Royal Enfield.. jst because i am not into touring bikes style.though i fully respect that clan of riders.

So here i was with NS.. my first ride..being a rookie and straight away getting my hands on to a power house.. being frank..i didnt even have a two wheeler license yet when i got my NS.. though ill get one in another week or so :P ..it ws like a leap of faith

Since the day i have got my bike..really love this machine.. i have learnt a lot about riding ..the excitement and thrill and also at the same time riding safe.. i read extensively on forums..and articles and ..even on the the technical stuffs and learnt lot of stuffs..

For those of who are new buyers of NS or those who are planning to buy it.. what i would say is..those initial days .. the bike might give you lot of trouble.. may be lot of glitches.. you might get frustrated..but trust me.. be there for the bike for initial 2000 odd kms.. be patient and iron out each of the problems you might come across.. lets face it guys...its a bike from an Indian manufacturer.. and you have to live with it..we are not yet upto to the quality standards of global players..I had lot of issues and also on the verge going down the dissatisfaction levels.. Below are some of the problems i faced initially..
Note: wherever ive mentioned SVC guys..i mean the normal bajaj service center.otherwise i have mentioned probiking service center..

1) Rear break sound.. which was so embarassing for a new bike.. i used to feel ashamed riding it.. but i kept troubling my svc guys at kalyani bajaj on Mehkri Circle..had been to the service center like 8 to 10 times..everytime they applied some spray..did some rubbing an sent back.after repeated troubling.. they replaced the complete caliper..and now its all gone.. as i said be patient..i never lost my temper though they were doing a shitty job of it..i always was in the request mode...

2) Pathetic service at bajaj service centers.. which any common man can get frustrated..we take so much care of our bike.. go there sacrificing our office work/time and other commitments..only to find that they have done nothing.

2) I really doubted the power of the machine..as i said i have never ridden other bikes.. i never knew what to expect.. i was not satisfied.. i used to find it difficult to get over bumps..if i have a pillion rider.. usually i had to rev up hard or sometimes it used to turn off in the middle of bumps..and i used to wonder how other bikes would perform which are in the category of 200 cc.. 15+ Bhp types.. the bajaj probiking service center guys did a good job.. they said the chain is loose..they cleaned and tightend it up..and then on..this changed the overall response of the bike.. everyone here.. keep an eye on your chain.. would suggest cleaning it and do some tightening regularly..you might get some vibes initially on the foot rest and gear lever whenever you do this..but it will eventually fade away..

3) There was prbolem with front forks.. i felt it was very rough..later service center guys said...the shock absorbers where loose..again tightened the same..or something they did..

4) There was dome vibrations.. same thing..some cleaing and tightening..again.. problem solved

The best thing i did was i took the bike to pro biking service center in Banshanakari..rode all the way from Hebbal.. trust me guys i was really surprised by the amount of transparency they have.. they really take care of the bike..
Did the first service around 600 kms.. but SVC guys did nothing other than just changing the engine oil..not even a overall test ride..but probiking svc guys.. where quick to spot all issues..they did complete service of bikes..oiling..tightening .. etc...

i changed the engine oil to Motul 7100 there at around 1200 kms.. and trust me guys..from then the performance has increased manifolds.. not sure if uts just my perception of putting a premium oil..but am really happy now.. i feel there is better torque output.. i sometimes come over a bump..with speeds around 15kms without downshifting from 3rd gear..which i find really awesome

Cant type much now :P ..will keep contributing here and there in future..

As i said guys..be there for the bike in the initially days.. its like a baby trying to find its step..just give the intial hand holding..and see how it unleashes itself and spreads its wings...

The best part is you never understand the bike fully in the initial days and.its not jst that you apply the throtle and the bike zooms off. that keeps you want to come back and ride the bike again and again...there is a whole world out there to explore.. with the gear shifts and clutch play.. i feel sky is the limit.. for the money you paid and what you get..

So enjoying riding and exploring the NS more..thats what i am doing now

happy to have own this bike..my first bike.. Some might think its exaggerated or biased..but cant help it guys :P
