I hope I won't have to lead the new lifestyle. Of course, I used to visit the svc twice a week after I bought the bike for minor things like water wash, chain tightening and other regular maintenance stuff. The service executive is a friend now and most people know my name there. But this is completely new!

I don't get it. Pulsar 200 NS is a premium bike, the current flagship of the Bajaj stable. They give these mouth-watering features like best in class handling, a gem of a sports engine, liquid cooling, looks to envy, low CoG and the lot and STILL, keep that engine carbed! I frankly wouldn't have minded paying 10k or maybe 15k for a flawless, proven, good branded electronic fuel injection system. That would complete the premium package. That would also mean more scope for mods which don't reduce the life of the engine too much. Aftermarket ecu mods for example, ensure the engine still runs stock with different mapping. Just take a look how the ownership thread of the duke is filled with owners modding their bikes with reputed aftermarket parts, and other stock vehicles backed up by KTM's service assurance and here, most of us are ranting about either vibrations or complications coming out of simple things like carburetor issues.

IFF Bajaj ever releases a fuel injected NS in the near future complying to emission norms, I would look no further. It would be my next mod on the engine.

If that's the case, I'll keep the current bore and engine block and chuck the cylinder head. I'll buy the new head with the injector, an ecu and fuel pump. If it's simple as that, it should cost about 20k bucks.

Guys, I got my bike last month and I have done 1250 Kms in ODO, done the first service at 750 KMs, poured Bajaj Oil again (planning to change it after 2500 KMs to Motul).

              1. I've been keeping the bike under 4k RPM until 1000 KMs and been shifting at 3.5 RPM.
              2. Now that I've crossed 1000 KMs, I'm supposed to shift at 4k rpm? What's the maximum speed I can reach? (I've touched 75 KMPH/ 5K RPM couple of times, but never crossed it).

              Any advises/suggestions are welcome.

You can ride it as you want, redline the bike, shift at higher rpm. the bike will be alright. you just make sure you don't cross your comfort zone or do speeds where you cant control your bike.

Please don't baby the bike around. Rev it upto most of the rev range slowly and let the revs drop down by engine breaking. Should keep your bike happy ever after.
Anyway, the latest engines are so well made that even if you redline right out of the showroom on day1, there's nothing that could happen to the engine. It's gonna be fine Take care of the oil.

Can you please elaborate on that? Also what about Running-in the engine until 2000 Kms

It's not necessary that the FI version will be 200CC it could be the 375CC version. Just cross the engine capacity for the FI version.

I am no expert on the process of running in but as far as i have understood till now the basic idea of running in is to ride the bike in such a way that the piston rings set along the cylinder head and avoid glazing.

Hence for proper setting of piston rings it is ideal to ride the bike across all rev ranges with once in a while redling / high RPM rides which should not last not more than a few seconds this allows the engine parts to set and move freely.

"Rev it upto most of the rev range slowly and let the revs drop down by engine breaking."

What Aditya meant was ride your bike at various RPMs and just do not stick to one say 4k and also do not continue riding at a constant RPM for long. But while you raise your rpms increasing them at slow pace and not twist your throttle like you are doing a drag race and when slowing down instead of using the brakes use engine-breaking or let the engine get slow on its own. Dont use the clutch while engine-breaking.

Thanks a lot bro. It makes sense and very informative too. I'm a rev crazy guy, good with old bikes, but running-in a new one is a lot harder than i thought.

                                No

Back problems can be a result of a single or multiple reasons and since you are having this problem for some time now you should definitely visit a good Ortho and get your back checked up ASAP. avoid driving long distances as much as possible, sleep on a flat surface like floor and use a pillow so that your neck is parellel to the floor and straight as much as possible. keep the suspension on the softest setting. ride with a straight back as much as possible.
Riding with straight back is helping with the pain, still there are other issues.. like I have trouble keeping my back straight for a several minutes, or else it creates breathing issues, i begin to feel abit light headed. I'll see a Doctor soon. This is nothing ugrent but still i gotta get it fixed. Im sure a Doctor can help.
