Guys, lately I'm experiencing issue with Gear Shifts, that is , when down-shifting the gear doesn't really get switched and remains in higher gear. So I have to give a little race and then only the higher gear shifts to a lower one.

It started occurring randomly after my first service a week back, showed it to bajaj mechanic he didn't face it at all (he took it for a good distance). I will approach him again this weekend but just wanna know from folks here if they have experienced anything like this with their NS ?

Another thing that cropped up after first service is that the bike in the morning needs a bit of revving to get started now . From this thread came to know that this issue is related to idle RPM, my idle RPM is 1 in the morning , should i get it adjusted to 1.5 ?

First use choke (slowly), not the throttle. Then Let the engine run for 2-3 mins. Try pushing the starter button for 1-1.5 secs (not more than 2secs). Give few seconds between tries. Now set the idle rpm to ~1.4 (After 2-3 mins of ignition). If set correctly, next time your bike will start in one\two tries itself without choke. Never use throttle, by the way. The idle rpm at morning start (~ after 12 hrs ) usually will start ~1.1\1.2rpm, but within some seconds it will increase to the actual range. Let the engine run for a while (2 mins) before you take.

For gear, no issues and no idea. Did you make sure the clutch play was not creating any trouble?

Also note : After a hard riding say > 30-40 mins and at high RPMs the idle value can get to ~1.6\1.7 RPM. But leave it for some more seconds and it will come down, so don't rush yourself thinking if something went wrong. It is completely normal...!!!

Same thoughts as jbm. Initially, the carburetor is set to a rich idle mixture(more petrol), so you wont have any problem in the morning. It is set rich so that the engine runs in properly. At first service, the mixture is made normal by adjusting the carb. When the engine is cold, you have to give a rich mixture (choke) for proper starting. When the engine is a bit warm (~2 mins) you can close the choke lever and the engine will run normally. Ideal idling rpm when the engine is warm (after you come back from a ride) is ~1500.

Problems with gear shifting immediately after first service is always associated with improper clutch cable adjustment OR the mechanic has put only 1 litre oil instead of 1.2 (it happened to me)

Thanks for the quick response, can you tell me how I can set/tune the idle rpm ?

You can find the idling screw located on right hand side of the bike just above the engine. Search in google "200ns idling screw". You will be able to find some pictures. But you must do this after warming up the engine. start with 1\4 turns, by checking the tachometer. Choke is on the left side under the seat

As "krixna" mentioned, check the clutch play. And the oil level. You can never trust a Bajaj svc guy.

                          Hello Guys,
Bought my Pulsar 200 NS on my birthday last year. (01:04:2014). I've done 13,000 odd km. Me and my gang have planned a ride to Leh in the month of August. Biggest confusion I'm facing is tyres. We have planned to ride all the way to Leh. So I'll be riding 2500 odd km on wet tarmac and then face off road conditions. Can anyone please suggest me what tyres should I go for! If this topic was already discussed then please let me know the page no.

                          Regards

Almost forgot about it. Also wanted to places where u can buy knuckle guards (with a metal strip) and a bashplate. Can anyone tell me where I can find it! Places in Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore is preferable. Online purchase would be fantastic.

Also how much time did they take to send the package?.

                                Hi...sorry for the late reply...
DO NOT put your mobile under the seat...there is absolutely no space..
I use a 1.5 or 2mtr data cable for charging my phone while it is mounted on the handlebar or when its inside my pocket/bag...
The cable can easily stay in the gap between the rider seat and pillion seat...

Dealextreme ships quickly..delivery is about 30 to 60 days(max)...always got it in under 30 days
remember to order more than $15 so that you get a tracking tracking number for the shipment

would be happy to help you if you have any other doubts...

i don't remember clearly but i think you have to unscrew 2 screws from the back of the LED holder...then get any T10 bulb/led and check it(it can fit both ways) before you close the cover..
