  • MY experience

    hi guys....
This is my experience from booking of the bike to the delivery...!

I booked the bike at Kollam showroom in KErala on July 23....paid full amount on 7th....I was supposed to get the bike within 2 days....but the dealer started giving lame excuses for not delivering the bike on time! I waited for 1week . After that, I complained to the customer care and they helped me to get full refund of the amont I paid.

I called up the Kottayam showroom and they had the bike in stock! I went to the showroom yesterday....paid the full amount and got my bumblebee delivered yesterday itself..... It was one of the happiest days of my life!

I rode 60km yesterday in heavy rain... Tire grip was not bad! Braking is awesome!

Didn't rip the engine, but gave short bursts till 60kmph for less than 4sec! Did some engine braking too.....Is this the correct engine run in procedure?

I am gonna change the engine oil at 100+ km....should i use mineral or semi synthetic oil?

Will installing LED pilot lamps as in DIY thread void the warranty?
Will installing dual horn of p180 void my warranty?

By the way, I paid 88.6k as the bill.....
will pay 5860 as tax and regn.....So,my onroad prive would be 93.8k!!!!!and i upgraded my warranty to 3 years for an additional 750rs!!!

thanks to all xbhpians for guiding me all these days!!!
Its not the speed.....it is all about the skill !!!!

    • yes your ns .. rpm issue is resolved right ? .. did it crop up again ??..
Yes, I am getting better FE now. I think its progressed to 38 from 30. I am kinda happy with this mileage in a city like Bangalore where its a Snails traffic.

I would suggest u one thing...
Take your bike to the Kollam showroom, show them ur bike, and also give them another piece of your mind...

@all NS owners - While TD, i saw a small button on the middle of the Indicator switch.. What is it for?
        Forgot to ask the dealer...

Btw the bike gets a bit unsettled on rough roads and potholes where the 220 just sails past or rather glides over broken roads and anything you throw at it... And I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT CORNERING..just talking about general stability... But as a overall package, ns is unbeatable and i will buy it and recommend it to others too... Another thing i felt was ns steering is very accurate...you can point the handle exactly where you wanted it to go and it will obey unlike the 220, but the road feedback on the handlebars is better in 220 anyways we shouldn't spoil this thread...lets take it to the duke vs ns thread...

Short burst are perfect way to run-in.. Engine braking.. I would ask you to keep at minimum during running-in, if possible don`t use it at all.. you do have two disc brakes.. use them.. Engine is for accelerating.. not braking.. post running-in remember Engine braking is both good & bad. Good being the control you get when you do it & bad being regular practice causes harm to engine in long run.

Stick to Semi Synthetic.. if you are planning to change it at 100kms.. I would suggest a mineral oil.. I think the seniors can throw more light on this.. either way use only semi synthetic or mineral.. nothing else..!!

changing horns would void warranty.. so I would recommend not to do it..!!

LEDs shouldn`t void the warranty.. I am just guessing.. so.. get it clarified from SVC..!!

I have seen in Hunk the Whole switch have to be pushed in to cancel the indicators.
In NS i thought the Switch had to be brought back to its position for cancelling the indicator. But that small switch seems to be easy to use.

This is exactly what I meant while saying the handle gives u a Street/dirt bike kinda feel.

@Govindone - I somewhere heard that engine braking is good for run-in..Hope seniors can throw some light on it.

                  • No one got a tank cover Right?

I need some thing to carry a file of important documents in my NS very soon. Any idea on that?

Here are some pics and a video :

I was all eyes. The kids in the area itched me for a pic. People at signal stared at the bike, forgetting to notice the green signal
You have heard of me, But you don't know me. You know what I'am, not what I've gone through

Congrats man... The issue with your bike is the accelerator cable is stuck somewhere. (Used to happen with my Fiero). Just follow the accelerator cable and make sure its free of movement. OR turn your handle fully to the right and then try shaking the cable. If nothing works take it to the SVC.

After I drove the NS I personally took one of our childhood friends 220 to feel the difference after few hrs itself so that the impact remains in me...and yes...220 is a much better handler in this segment...
I have seen ppl comparing it with the R15 or CBR150..but honestly I felt this is no where near to them in terms of handling prowess..the front shows the weight while in corners than the rear..may be center of gravity is on the lil bit higher side....and again the tyres are like hell...it may cause harm in wet roads....
You have just contradicted many posts here. Members including the senior ones (also experienced) have always mentioned that 200NS handles better than any other Pulsar till date including 220.
If its the center of gravity, try with a pillion. Works for me

I think most of you are going in for a test drive with hopes as high as the sky itself. Try going for the TD with less hope, you'll be amazed. Just my 2 pence.

93.5k is almost 10k less than Bangalore. Taxes here are just robbing us by a huuge margin.. Damn it!!

I had the exact same issue. Now even mine gives around 40kmpl in B'lore... Guess I'm kinda satisfied..

Do you have any evidence to support your statement?? Never ever have I heard that engine braking is not good. It has always been recommended...

Please try not guessing and provide valid statements. Don't get me wrong, just don't confuse the others... It would be a lot more helpful if you validate your statements...

I think its more to do with getting adjusted or accustomed to the bike. The first few days I felt my Fiero was easier to handle. Now I feel how did I manage to drive it...!!!

Heyyy, I have been posting updates.. Most of the issues have been sorted out. Recently I had been to Nandi Hills near B'lore..
                          My complains:
                          1. the bike sways towards my Left, in the process my right hand tries to compensate, unconsciously, giving me a hand-ache..
                          2. I have to crank the starter twice during a cold start in the mornings.
                          3. Most Important: I need an Engine guard !!!! Its so painful to clean the underbelly of the engine everyday...

i second you... too much engine braking is something i would stay away from...engine braking should be done only in high gears... Dont use harsh engine braking as it would glaze the cylinder walls...and i would use the external brakes more than the engine coz its cheaper and easier to change brake pads than the engine
@shibadip: now i understand what you mean by that dirt bike feel that day... and yes i went with too much expectations and got disappointed but who cares when i am getting all these under a lakh its like an end of season sale...

Please try not guessing and provide valid statements. Don't get me wrong, just don't confuse the others... It would be a lot more helpful if you validate your statements...
i have noticed this from past 5 years .. there is some "kich kich" type of sound from the engine who practice engine braking .. other bikes which dont perform engine braking sounds healthy .. go ahead and use engine braking if you fancy having abnormal sounds from engine ..

Dont use harsh engine braking as it would glaze the cylinder walls...and i would use the external brakes more than the engine coz its cheaper and easier to change brake pads than the engine
@shibadip: now i understand what you mean by that dirt bike feel that day... and yes i went with too much expectations and got disappointed but who cares when i am getting all these under a lakh its like an end of season sale...
agree with the engine braking part ..it should be performed on multi cyl bikes for obvious reasons,, not on puny street bikes ..according to me ..engine braking puts a lot of stress on the engine and that is the first step in ruining this engine...
