  • Re: Pulsar 200 NS

    Hi Guys

I bought Yellow 200 NS one month back. This is my first bike and I am really loving it. Done with the first service at 600kms. Followed the run in period speed and rpm as mentioned in the manual. Second service is only at 5000km. Should I change the engine oil before that and Which is the preferred engine oil ? Any thing else to be careful about ?

^^ congrats... Please don't start engine oil discussions again. Kindly look few pages back. Loads of discussions on engine oils

So, I had a faulty speedo sensor which i got replaced under warranty today,, but the problem right now is that they had tuned the carb and now its behaving very badly. the bike is stuttering when held at a constant speed, say 45 kmph, it feels like its running out of fuel.Another thing i noticed is that after heavy acceleration,i.e, after opening the throttle wide,if i close the throttle and reopen it again, there is a lag in the response, like some sort of slow input.what could be the reason?

why did they tune the carb, did you had any problem.

a golden rule in carb tunning is, always measure and note down the existing setting, i.e. number of turns of AFR screw, before changing it, so that you have a base setting to fall back on, if anything goes wrong.

I forgot to share that I've completed my 3rd service at 4300km few days back, earlier than it should be because of 240days time limit... all usual stuff carried out. except that I got Bajaj Oil poured in instead of Motul 5100 that I was previously runnning on. Mechanic was great, better than the one who previously serviced my bike. I asked them not to fiddle with CO% levels as current setting was perfect. Overall the bike runs nice and smooth, and yea using Bajaj Oil for now. Though it turned out the Mechanic had poured like 100-200ml less Oil ? So today I got it rectified.
Got the opportunity to test ride the mighty 220F first time, great experience, impressive power band.. low end torque really good compared to NS whose fun starts only above 7k RPM. Even with a pillion 220 pulls so good under 7k RPM. Didn't try going above 7k. It appeared it revs slower than NS ? Such a smooth and refined engine, though it did feel like I was riding an aged bike with just better Torque distribution than NS. It does need better instrument components/switches like NS.

                  • Re: Mileage

I bought this bike on 15 july,. So its been approx 1 year.. and rode 5000Kms.. Including a long trip to Rishikesh.. and after 3 services... it is giving up mileage around 40.12 .. Which is very good for 200cc bike i guess...

                    ----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

61 Kmpl ???? Rubbish... It is not possible.. Company claims it to be 58 Kmpl.. and all knows it is always atleast 10Kmpl more than the original mileage on road.. mine is giving 40.12 Kmpl and for the highways.. around 43Kmpl..

And my NS is giving me an astonishing fuel efficiency of over 50 kmpl since the past 2 weeks , with speeds between 55-70 kpmh & occasional bursts with 100% city riding...I'm using regular fuel i.e no Premium / Speed / etc...so happy with it !!
Also I wanted to know that at which RPM your NS touches 100 kph (without crouching)...for example my NS touches 100 kph (speedo indicated) @ precisely 7k RPM...overlook the variation in the speedo errors / weight of the rider / etc...
                    Exactly.. 6th Gear, 7K, 100Kpj..

                      rather late here :P

did 1st service at 500 changed to bajaj oil at ghatkopar service center
then had some free checkup :P
then did 2nd service again changed to bajaj oil at same asvc at 4300 kms
but this time time didnt felt good so changed to motul 3100gold after 2kms at 6300 kms
then did 3rd service at suraj auto thane at 7000 kms
then at 8000 kms shifted to motul 5100
now at 10400 again did service bt from a local mechanic and again changed to 5100
                      reaplaced air filter also

bike is too smooth now mileage 43+ now
an adventure is not outside a rider, its within

I have no freaking clue why they even touched the carb, they said its part of regular service! now they dont even know how to rectify it.when i took it back to then, took one of the mechanics as pillion and showed him that the bike is stutteriing when maintaining 45 at 6th gear,he claims that the Ns is supposed to ve revved and used, and this is normal. This was the Dumbest thing i ever heard from a mechanic! I want to know if i am running lean or rich

stuttering means-- when you hold the throttle constant, the engine does hiccups like when petrol flow is not proper..?? is it so..??
