for rusting of screws, use a cover.

i am rather curious about that coiled cable connected to idle screw, never seen one. what i know is that other bikes have a spring on the idle screw, so that screw remains tight and does not move. so where is the other end of that coiled cable connected. can you post some actual pics, if you have clicked some.

for those of you, who want a perfectly waterproof cover that won't scratch the bike, "Bachoo Motors" have one, it is even lockable, but a bit costly. "Performance Racing Store" also have a good cover, i guess.
yea it was a good experience to me overall.yes m using a cover now, planning to replace all the exterior nuts after monsoon.

and about the idle screw coil, the pic i posted above is the original cable that has snapped.iif you look at the right side engine area,u will see the idle screw knob located below the frame, its to be turned with * screw driver. the carb is set way back inside the frame,so conventional screw wouldnt work since it wud b impossible to access it without actually taking off the petrol tank and the air filter.so what bajaj did is connect the idle screw to a cable(the one that snapped in my case) which is connected to the idle screw knob that you can see outside.so when you turn the idle knob, the cable would turn and so the idle screw.in my case the cable snapped.since i got another cable welded back, the idle knob clip(plastic) melted and it doesnt stay in the steel bracket anymore.its sticking out about 2 cms.and its easier to fiddle with idle setting now anyways il b changing it soon.a totaled Ns just arrived at my nearby junkyard,i am planning to get the carb, engine head for mods dept and ofc the idle screw along with rear footpeg clamp(it tends to loose the steel colour and turn black). have to start bargaining from 2mrw

one thing is that lid is attached to the metal tank only. there is just a hole for lid in fibre tank

I didn't give my bike for third free service..... the svc guys in thiruvananthapuram are really bad and they messed up my friends's bike......... lost faith in svc.I got my carb tuned my a well known mechanic in our city and now I don't feel the "almost petrol over feeling" any more

          Hi there,
I bought my NS from Pioneer Bajaj in Kaniyapuram. Usually, I get it serviced at their main service centre near Kanettumukku. Service there is ok but not excellent. Having to travel 30+ kms from my place to their main svc is a pain. So I did the 3rd service at Kaniyapuram itself. Since, then my bike is not running properly. Have the same problem that you had and they tightened the chain too much and over all my bike is running bad.
As I was sick I could not take my bike for rectifying the issues.

Where did you buy your bike from and how about the services?
Your bike is a part of you....

Hi guys, I've been riding my new NS for 12 days now. I'm facing heavy problems while shifting to 1st gear from neutral and then to 2nd gear, (it won't shift fully, stays in neutral). Also too many false neutrals from 3rd to 5th gears, which cause the engine to roar to 7k or 8k RPM suddenly. Will they be rectified in the 1st service? Also what oil should I go for after the initial 500 KMs?

Have ridden 360 Kms so far, and the mileage is only 33 KMPL. Shifting at 3.5 - 4k RPM and riding under 5k RPM. Planning to change from BP to Indian Oil from next service.

Being a happy biker in India involves the one most important part: get to know a good local mechanic who knows his job. And I mean really good and not some dummy guy.
This guy will be the soul center for all your bike problems/services. Use the SVC only to get your warranty papers stamped on all the mandatory free/paid services pages. Just to be on the safe side in case your engine and transmission has a manufacturing defect. This may need you to get the bike serviced there but its worth it. Only dont take their service at face value. Have your own local guy inspect regularly. When my bike was new, I used to do the whole service including oil change by my local mechanic and used to tell the SVC guys to just wash the bike, inspect the bike to their satisfaction and stamp warranty card. This is possible in many places depending on the area you live in. Also knowing the guys help. Just a tip....

Yeah, I know. The 1st and 2nd services were just a farce. Later, I had to leave my bike there for 2 days to get some issues like vibration, defective stopper, bent handle, etc. to be fixed. At that point, the problems were fixed. Only, because there was some money involved.

How about Deedi Bajaj? I went to their Karamana svc a few months back to inquire about the centre stand. The place was packed and the guys did not even have a moment spare to answer my question properly.

I really don't understand why many corporations fail to provide good after sales support and service. They just want to sell their stuff and earn huge profits.

Never have experienced difficulties in uphift,in fact its very slick, but had issues with downshift.that disappeared after oil change and change in riding style after 5000 kms.in my experience ,the first 2 weeks i was getting mileage between 49-52kmpl shifting under 4k rpm and top speed of 50kmph.

why dont you take it to svc and tell them about your issues?your mileage is the lowest i have heard for an ns

why do you want to shift from 1st to neutral and then to second, either shift from 1st to neutral to stop the bike or shift from 1st to 2nd. didn't get you..??one reason fro gear shift problem is that as compared to other indian bikes (less than one lakh) on NS you need more movement of gear lever to accurately slot in the gear, the gearbox is designed like that so many ppl face this problem, even i faced it slightly for first one hour or so after the purchase, but only twice or thice, soon i realized that it needs more angular movement of your toe and now its all right, some other bikes are also like this for example GT250R.

yes you are right, upon casual inspection it appears to be connected to plastic body but look deep down under and yes its connected to metal tank.

I've seen so many fellow NS owners having different complains of the NS...
My 9 month old NS never had any problem! No vibrations anywhere,no radiator fan issues,no carb tuning issues(in fact it still runs on the tuning that the bike originally came with, that includes the idle too!),nothing at all!
I'm guessing the fault lies in the service centers you guys get your bikes serviced at.
Atleast here in Goa,the service center technicians/mechanics are quiet good.Very patient and respect your suggestions and queries.

Totally agree.....my first few months were not great until I got hold of auto service in Bangalore.

Why would anyone buy a ZMR?!
I would rather go with the Karizma R.

As for the comparo, since you mentioned mixed riding conditions...,
If its 60% City and 40% highway:Go for the NS.
If its 60% Highway and 40% City:Karizma (R or ZMR).

In fact, let him go for what he likes.

The Karizma has more of a commuterish seating position, very comfortable, brakes(Front) are incredible, smoother, lower seat height.
The NS has kind of a 'sportier' riding position compared to the Karizma, awesome rear brakes, and at 5ft 10in,he will pretty much be able to handle it.I my self am the same height, and I've seen people as short as 5ft 5in own and ride an NS.
