Good update. One word of caution would be, the oil grade you're about to use, especially the XADO. Whatever oil you use, make sure you don't downgrade the temperature rating, which is 20w50 or 15w50. You can decrease the number before W say 10w50 15w50 and the like, but it's wise not to go lesser on the number after W which indicates the oil's temperature/viscosity bearing capacity.

    Just a word of caution.

    Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

[QUOTE=riazmomin;1204011]35000 KMs update on my 390 Duke

      8. RVMs were changed to RTR ones around 27000 KMs back. Very happy with them.

How effective were the RTR mirrors and how much did they cost you? Thanks

These guys are the official importers of these pads in India. Sintered brake pads last quite a long time compared to the stock ones. PM them on their Facebook page, they will guide you with the prices and shipping. Last I checked was 2.5k per pair

        Thanks mate. Will ping them.

Btw today I noticed wenever i slightly press front brake it squeaks ... But when I brake it hard like till Abs activates I hear weird noise as if disk is getting scratched by a metal piece. And then squeak noise disappears till next stop.

I dont use it much.. Just for weekends.. after this many months it still show temperature.. but see its because of the powerful engine.. JUST DONT WORRY about temperature.. WWW (World Wide Web) has ton of talk about this and all are meaning less.. just dont think about this.. Enjoy your bike. You only need to worry when you are on last two bar of temperature..

One thing I noticed when I went for test ride. I ridden their test bike.. which was same Duke 390 but 2014 edition.. it took no heat at all.. so I guess after few thousands KMs this should be gone.. but I really dont think about it at all.. or you shouldnt purchase it at all. Just enjoy your ride.. Just make sure keep it riding.. and dont keep it in idle too much time. and when you start your day.. just idle it for couple mins.. till you say couple bars in temperature.

I think you meant idle for a couple of seconds and not minutes. I idle it for 10-20 seconds and then begin my ride every morning. Thanks

Restarting clarification required: Hi all, have the following query. After traveling some distance, should I need to stop to say buy something from a store and get back, which would keep the engine shut for 2-5 minutes or so. After I return won't the engine face a hot start keeping in mind, the fan was shut down for those few minutes? Or simple if there's a long signal for some reason, like some VIP passing, etc and we've all stopped, what's the best thing to do to avoid excess heating? Thanks

In this situation, please assess what the situation is going to be like when you re-start your engine. Yes, the engine will be hotter than the time you shut it off but when you restart, if your ride is relatively smooth, say 40kmph and above preferably in 4th gear then there shouldn't be an issue.

If you shut off the bike for VIP passing and when you restart if you have to do bumper to bumper riding for more than 2-3mins then I would say don't shut the engine off.

Cool, thanks. Cause a times, most of saturday and sunday jobs require multiple short duration stops!

Squeaking is a known issue on almost most of the Dukes out there,it's caused by those pads. What I'd suggest is remove the pads, glaze then and then install them back, usually this solves the issue on a temporary basis, but comes to haunt again. If it squeaks repeatedly, try replacing the pads.

                        Cheers!

Yoohooo....finally after quite a few "almost bough it" moments through out the last 2 year, I am finally getting a Duke 390. But funny thing is that I won't even be home on Monday when the bike will be delivered. Have to wait till Friday night to even lay eyes on her. I hope my job is going to keep me distracted enough to fly through the week.

Also, wanted to say something about the whole "Lots of relativesly new bike in the used market" phenomenon. One aspect that most people here won't even realize is that a very large majority of the buyer of the 390 twins are not much aware about the true nature of the bike. An equally large number of buyer also buy this bike because they can afford it in the sense of "cost of procurement" without realizing the extra expenses caused due to the tire and fuel. These people buy one expecting it to cost about the same as a CBR 250 or so to maintain. While general spares would actually be cheaper than a CBR, thhe fuel and tire costs are going to make them uneasy and eventually they sell off these bikes. I know this sounds crazy to many people here, but I have seen many such occasions. It is like the average upper middle class guy buying a Merc or BMW in the used market for the brand and image only to realize that it isn't cost of purchase, but the cost of upkeep that he is unable to meet.

Well, that helped me get some of my frustration out of my system....... One more week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
                          Must ride on!

I used to ride an Apache 180, but that wasn't technically my bike. This is my first bike in terms of ownership. But I guess that Apache was mine for all practical intents and purposes. I just noticed that the 2016 Dukes will have auto headlamp (I am not really keen on calling them that, there is nothing automatic about it from what i have read.) now i am wondering if I'd be getting one of those or the older one.
