If you can come down this side it would be great-near Old Airport Road.
Else, I can also try to make it that side if my Uncle's Activa is free.
I wish I had my bike there too, it would be even better.
But just a matter of time, we will be riding together in a few months if all goes well.

I have a query guys.
some days back i rode a ZMR, a GS 150r and my bike back to back as i happen to meet some of my friends.
Since ZMR was in a run-in period, didn't rip it, but i rode that GS for about 20 kms, apart from finding that bike very weak and uncomfortable, i noticed that it also KNOCKS whenever we wack the throttle, almost the same as my bike does.
The only difference is that it doesn't knock if we hold the rpm over 3.5k to 4k and then wack, but my bike needs to be held at-least at 5k.
now if a stock 1 year old bike knocks, isn't my knocking also natural ?
maybe we aren't able to judge it weather is it really a compression issue, or is it not as bad as we think it is ??
true that the bike fires gunshots from the silencer on sudden de-acceleration.
i asked a few people, i was recommended to use SPEED instead of std petrol as its good for higher compression bikes, also i was told that if i use say a different oil, petronas 5000 sprinta or something (can't remember the name) then my knocking issue will go away.
the oil recommendation has come from the same bore uncle who designed my valve grooves and asked me to keep the compression high.
i really don't know what to do !!
trust me guys, the knocking isn't as bad as it seems to be, its almost like a stock bike, a bit more so to say....
do i really really need to get the head enlarged ???Giving a lot to a fiero.
Expecting a lot from a fiero.

Don't use petronas sprinta fs oil,it's very thin and engines end up drinking it like it's going out of fashion.Originally posted by NANOtechnology View PostI have a query guys.

From seeing your spark plug ,the carburation is good engine isn't running lean.
Getting the head enlarged is a must if you'd ask me.
The bikes you rode knock at lower revs ,that is the engine has to be kept in the power band. All bikes knock at lower revs on higher gears as revs will be very low.If you ride your bike or any bike like that, then you are asking for trouble, because it will ruin the valve train.Never make the engine lug in higher gears.
Honestly, your engine shouldn't knock at 5k rpm.Life begins, once you hit the power band !!

Could be,but that is a concept design with ohlins shocks and USD front shox ,which is expecting a lot, really.Originally posted by tintin708 View PostGuyz i have heard that the TVS Velocity bike is going to be launched in India this coming Feb. its currently being sold in the Indonesian market and has a 160cc engine.Life begins, once you hit the power band !!

5k was an overstatement, its not that high, my bike knocks depending upon the gears, if i shoot the bike all the way from 0 with 1st gear all the way to the top, it goes faster and accelerates better than stock 180 without knocking, but if at higher gears i keep the rpm low (like i always did before) and then suddenly decide to wack it up, then it knocks.Originally posted by gixxer_junkie_m View PostDon't use petronas sprinta fs oil,it's very thin and engines end up drinking it like it's going out of fashion.

Like Gixxer said lugging any bike in lower gear will make it ping(knock). In your case you also reported the bike running on at 8 K rpm when hot ..ie.,even after closing the throttle the bike rpm did not come down as original, but continued to remain at 8 K rpm for a few seconds. This is a clear case of pre-ignition.Hence I had asked you to either do the head work or add another gasket...this is primarily to reduce the compression to a safe level, and prevent piston meltdown.Originally posted by NANOtechnology View Post5k was an overstatement, its not that high, my bike knocks depending upon the gears, if i shoot the bike all the way from 0 with 1st gear all the way to the top, it goes faster and accelerates better than stock 180 without knocking, but if at higher gears i keep the rpm low (like i always did before) and then suddenly decide to wack it up, then it knocks.

Do not postpone the head work..unless you want your engine to land up in a basket.

we can only guess and that's it.Were as with regard to other things mechanical ,pictures will tell the story ,but performance is another thing all together.
One good thing is that ,the spark plug is saying that your engine isn't running lean.
