  • Amidst all this, I only wish the mileage of my bike goes up to atleast to 50kmpl If not 58-59kmpl like Gixxer's

I really am hoping since both gixxer & my bike were tuned by the same mechanic at the same time

i have a 2001 fiero and it has done close to 95000kms.
Engine rebored and i have done the 1000kms run in also.now the bike pick up is very good and also it easily touches 120km/hr(speedo read).
      But still following problem persists:
1.Inspite of changing to a new chain and sprocket set, whenever i slowdown and accelerate,i get some kurr kurr sound..

2.I am feeling almost all the bumps in the road,Rear shocks is a new one. So is it the problem with the front shocks? should i change it to a new one? how much will it cost?

3.Engine sounds very noisy and stressed in speeds above 90....I guess fiero was much more silent before, even when it touches 120.

Whenever i ride this bike,i have a feeling that its not firmly planted on the road.Is it because of the front forks? or is it because i am riding pulsar 200 for long time(which is front heavy).
      1. If your bike has a engine guard plate ,then i think it's making the noise.Otherwise ask the mech to check the cam chain tensioner setting.

      2. No need to change it ,it will get soft.

      3. Get the carb tuned properly and the tappet's adjusted.

      4. Go for either Yamaha Gladiator's handle or that of the FZ,or ask for FURY handle. The lowered front end will sort out the handling issue and will make the bike feel planted.

Haven't checked the Mileage, but mostly it should be giving more than prior tuning since from the time of filling resuerve has come late..

Will check exactly in the coming days since I got reserve today & will be filling again..

What plans you have for my gal ??

                  • Ok time for an Update..

After the tuning done by Mech My mileage has gone up by a respectable 5kmpl & I have got 45kmpl this time around with filling from Shell.

@Gixxer - So what do you say now ??

Well bro, considering the fact that i was going easy on the right wrist and the fact that there's difference in compression.I think you should be reasonably happy with what you're getting. If you try, then you can take it to 50 as it is.But you can always give Co tuning a try and i think it will make this number.

Another thing, yesterday i bought NGK CR9E GP spark plug,it's a platinum one costing 160 bucks and today i tried it.It makes a considerable difference i must say, engine starts easily, revs become more smoother and engine sounds happy.I was using the conventional NGK R CR9E spark plug till recent and as i said the difference can be felt easily.
I have used and still have the stock NGK R CR7E IX iridium spark plug(bike was on stock CDI) and this platinum feels similar to that in performance. So it's a damn bang-for-the-buck spark plug.I think you should give it a try,it will improve the mileage and performance a bit in your girl. The stock option is NGK CR7E GP,give it a try, you'll be happy.

True that, May be If I am easy on throttle & come back to stock size tyre I can get up to 50kmpl..

Coming to Spark Plug,I have already used the Platinum one on my CBZ for considerable amount of time & I found no difference at all.. May be for my next change I plan to go for that..

Yeah, with stock tyre the # will go up.But i beg to differ on the difference a platinum or a iridium one will or will not make. The bike started on first kick when cold and i never switch off the engine in signal lights as it used to take a few kicks to start. But today the starting was one kick affair throughout, then the difference in engine feel for the better is substantial, right from cold start itself.

That's good for you bro.. Lets see as I said I will choose that for my next change since I changed my Spark plug very recently as you know..

                            • @All

Today Abhi was here and we checked the spark plugs of our rides. His bike's spark plug is nice and dark and it's mileage has also increased as he has posted. This once again shows that a white spark plug which means the engine is running lean doesn't mean the bike's mileage will/should also increase. As it might not be getting fuel when it needs and resulting in bad performance as well as mileage.
Now coming to the platinum plug NGK CR9E GP i put yesterday,it's light in color were as the same heat range plug NGK R CR9E is nice and dark in color! The carb setting is same as tuned by the mech and which had given excellent avg when i checked with the conventional plug. This shows that indeed the platinum spark plug does what spark plug makers claim it to do.

I was amazed & i was literally praying that it should not be running lean & really i am with you, the tuning done by mech is just too perfect..

If it wasn't for me you were ready to mess with your tuning again & messing it up as the mech says

@All - Now coming to Gixxer's Bike, I have driven his bike right from 26mm carb with missing days & also with 29mm & stock fiero intake manifold, now that he has put RTR180 Intake manifold the power delivery is smooth, I revved the nuts of the bike in 2nd gear & it almost reached 55kmph & it was quicker to reach their than what it used to with stock manifold.

We always check both our bikes on the stretch of road where Gixxer lives so It is very evident since we have been doing this for long time.
