    Bike works perfectly without a battery i've rode mine like that for close to a year and half.It doesn't harm the CDI .

      @gixxer: Thanks... my CDI thing is sorted now for Carb you or someone else suggested pulsar's, can this thing also be elaborated like no., price etc.
      my requirement of carb is such that I need lot of power because I plan to tour in hilly region and need not go on high speed..

        For torque you have to stick with the stock 26mm one,that is you can buy the pulsar 150's carb of earlier models and not the current gen pulsar 150.As it now comes with 29mm one.

        In the previous page ullalhas quoted it's price to be 2,350 Rs,that should do for your needs as well.

          Hello Friends

          Am posting on behalf of my friend who owns a Fiero 2001 model. He is desperately looking for a good mechanic in Bangalore(preferably near marathalli but wouldn't mind travelling far to a good mechanic ) as the last couple of services have messed up the engine real bad. So could you all please help me with the mechanic address

          • New chain sprocket

            My chain set has worn out and need to replace it.

            The stock config is 13/39T ie. 13T at the front & 39T at the rear. You guys were saying to upgrade to a 14T GB sprocket at the front & keep 39T at the rear.

            I ride daily for about 50-60kms highway+city riding & occasional long trips.

            Need answers to my few queries here. Appreciate your help.

            1. Will there be a drop in initial pickup?
            2. Any effects on the long run(I know there wont be any )
            3. Can I run this setup daily? Dont want to keep on changing every now & then.
            4. Can I plonk in a Shogun's front sprocket? Is it a straight fit?
            5. Last & final question. What do you mean by GB sprocket?

            Please dont kill me for asking these questions

              The whining noise you are hearing is likely from the cam chain follower and that's the result of a over-tightened cam chain tensioner setting.

              Or even more importantly it could be from a leaking intake manifold ,has the mech checked it??
              Gixxer buddy. you are the man! been to the mech for the same, told him about the tightened chain tensioner. then he pointed out to this protruding thing towards the rear left end of the engine block. i never knew what that previously did he loosened the bolts and when pulled it out, there was an extension which was completely extended. he pushed it back in and bolted the nut. immediately the engine started with an effortless kick and went high revving. i guess the chain tightened way too high for normal idling. then he dropped down the idling and unscrewed the airscrew to 2 and a quarter of a turn. now i get the unique fiero decelerating exhaust unburnt thump!!!!!! all thats left is the carb issue. shall be rectified in a weeks time. i shall keep u updated!!!!!! i'm really glad i got rid of that whining noise shall check my mileage as well. Cheers!!!!!

                I am running with 14t Front sprocket & I am simply loving it.

                1. Not much, but you will get much needed power in Mid & top range
                2. Not anything as I know of
                3. You can very well run it daily, Infact I will be amazed if you get back to stock after tasting 14/39 Set up

                4. Gb sprocket means I think which is for front, dont know the full form

                Don't go for Shogun sprocket, you can find from Yamaha Crux & it is a direct fit & I am using the same from past 2k kms

                what you can do is buy whole fiero chain sprocket kit, & buy extra 14t front sprocket of yamaha Crux & keep the 13t safely with you, if you want to get back to stock you can get back easily

                  It is not the camshaft, it is the camchain. I have the same noise in my bike too. Camchain up for replacement next time!

                  +1 to that. I rode it for a year like that too. But only thing is now my tacho needle goes a bit wild at around 6K, then comes back to normal again!

                    @gixxer: thanks bro....I went to Tvs and Bajaj Showroom today, could not get all the three things 1) TCI 2) Ignition coil and 3) Bajaj old pulasar 150 carb... will have to got to Deharadun soon

                    +1 to that. I rode it for a year like that too. But only thing is now my tacho needle goes a bit wild at around 6K, then comes back to normal again!


                    What exactly was the problem with your CDI bro?
                    @ Sarvajit: Bro, it came to halt suddenly after a speed breaker one week before and did not come to life after that, there was no current in plug so Mech checked fuse, engine kill switch no way it could start, so he assumed that its CDI gone kaput so asked me to wait for another CDI from another Fiero so he could check... I am still waiting....

                      I am sure you'll get it there,the TCI unit and it's Ignition coil are easily available parts.

                      Why wait for another fiero CDI to check? tell him to put any other 4stroke bike's CDI to check it.Then you can find out if it's the CDI or is it some other issue which's causing this prob.

                          No big deal man!! Tell him to make sure that the intake manifold isn't leaking.If it's leaking then also you'll get missing kinda feel at higher revs.

                            2.You can put the 14 teeth one,BUT you will loose the fiero punch.That is no popping wheelies anymore.Can you live with that? You can wheelie but it'll need one hell of a revving ! the kinda revving reserved only for chasing some really, really exotic bird's tail.

                            If you want to ,try it out ,but i don't think you'll go for it.

                            Abhilash's happy with it and so was i in fact i used to ride it using a 15 teeth one!! imagine that !!

                            ps:i know you're married, but once out of the house it doesn't matter does it?

                                Yes it is possible...the difference between a bike with SS and without,is the lack of these components...for the SS the hole is fitted with a dummy and the other two are simply not there....The step down gear also contains the Self engage and release mechanism ,and may require the opening of the crank case,for fitting.
