  • @abhilashabhi12: Overfilling oil can make the shocks too hard. It needs to be measured&filled exactly.
Since the fork is 'through' from the outside,
There are basically 4 things to check in the shockers:
    1. Inner tube bends-replace if scoring marks found.
    2. Oil seals-replace if leaking
    3. Springs-check length, replace if length is altered/not compressing properly.
    4. Fork oil-filled as per specification.

It will be mentioned in the manual bro, else if the shocker repair mechanic is experienced, he will know.

Change the spark plug to that of the stock one ,which is NGK R CR7E today itself. So that it will be easier to find out the carburetter setting. It will be easier if you do the same while checking the mileage.Buy it at jc road ,Amit auto agnecy at tank bund road,or at one of their retailers.Do that ASAP.

Put the stock plug i mentioned about and then let's see the carburettor setting.Yes your bike is running very lean, because the plug when we saw yesterday is white, that too when it's a 2 numbers more colder plug NGK R CR9E !! and NGK recommends that for any tuning or bump up in compression requires a number higher in the choice of plug. Were as your bike is stock and it's on 2 numbers higher than stock plug!! and it is light in color!!

A colder plug hides the fault in carb setting. In your case ,seriously lean to get mileage.

As you saw yesterday,my plug is black in color ,that too when it's running very high compression, with a 2 number higher NGK R CR9E ,also the bike's on TCI(MEANING BIGGER AND LONGER SPARK) and remember my bike's carb was tuned by a CO machine and it's at the optimum setting for my bike's engine. So you need to richen it further or else it will damage the engine.

Let's see the mileage once again,my guess is it has to do with your riding style and particularly to do with the kind of congested traffic you deal with on your commute.

Or you might be revving the bike more to get the bike to pull ,as it's geared taller.

The thing is ,as you know taller gearing+lean carb should = more mileage.

I never paid attention to Plug no's, my mistake

I will buy the plug today itself or max tomorrow & replace it.

Then I can run a day or two & check the spark plug reading to understate the correct tune of engine.

Thanks again for helping me check this out, If not I would have lugged around in the same tune & might have caused harm to engine

Another thing ,ever thought of changing the petrol bunk? change the plug and get the fuel from Lalbagh west gate's Kaveri petrol bunk.

The colder plug is always better. The reason i am asking you to go for the hotter stock plug is to find out the carb setting. As i said the colder plug is hiding how lean the engine's running.
Once you switch to the hotter stock plug you will notice that the engine will become noisy and unrefined. Till now the colder NGK R CR9E was making the engine run smooth and refined, hence hiding the real carb setting.

My last fill was from Kaveri only, You remember I told you sometime back also..

I always get 2 or 3 Kmpl less only from Kaveri compared to IOC near Ashrama..

I will try with Shell this time in Chamarajpet

First put the stock plug and then check the mileage and feel of the engine. The problem is ,you got the oil changed recently that too MOTUL ,no wonder your bike was refined and smooth(MOTUL+COLDER PLUG).

                              • Hey Guys!!! I'm back after a week or so in the countryside. Had gone for a cousin's wedding. I did not take my bike. It was a nice break... had a great time partying and drinking and just being lazy.

I see that a lot has been going on here... Keep it up guys!!!
