nice pics you have got there.. Your engine and bike looks neat.. do u experience any clutch slip?? which oil do u use??

True.. Its one of the engines which can be easily and effectively modified... It has got stronger gears which can take hard beating and it is very easy to work on..

There's no clutch slippage. The oil i'm using is mineral MOTUL 3000 4T plus 20W40.I've recently used MOTUL 300V factory line15W50 Twice and YAMALUBE 15W50 semi synthetic. But found that mineral oils of motul are fine enough.

The oil cooler cost me 500 bucks with the hoses (junkyard)Since those pics were taken i've put hydraulic hoses as well as the mesh cover for the oil cooler.
The oil pressure's excellent. We've checked it and this modification has been done before too. There's a better way of connecting the oil-cooler outlet hose actually. The best way to use it would be to weld/fabricate a oil filter cap with a banjo bolt and then connect the oil-cooler's output hose to it.
The ZMR oil cooler is same as the one on my bike. But the present p220 oil cooler has a extra row and hence has 1/4th more cooling area.

The cam and rockers are stock.

The fiero engine has had super-charger installed That says a lot doesn't it?

i had serious clutch slip issues initially.. later, i modded the clutch and now its fine.. i just wish i can mod RTR clutch for a fiero(which is not possible)..

Thats great.. I've used Pennzoil ZDX premium 20w-40, Elf Moto4 gold 20w-40, Mobil1 20w-50(For my Thunderbird as well) and Mobil1 0w-40 Full synthetic..
personally, i always felt Pennzoil was better and it is the cheapest of all.. It was diesel Engine oil and helped my bike to stay cool.. Mobil1 0w-40 was also equally good but costly(1150 rs ) once used castrol p1 and my clutch got fried, my bend pipe became red hot(It was chrome plated and now its purple-ish )..

Regarding the cam and rockers, change to RTR's.. the stock fiero doesn't have roller cam follower.. For your package, it should wear out the cam very soon..

Supercharger?? I have installed turbocharger for a stock fiero engine as a project to my friend,, i'll upload pics of it tomo..

Tell us more about the clutch mod.

Initially i used castrol p1 and it used to become no better than water within
            1k kms.So used to change it every 1k then i've used shell,penzoil,yamalube 20w40 and motul mineral 15w50.Yeah i noticed the bend-pipe color .

Believe it or not i have RTR rocker arms with me,i had bought those to modify and install it on stock head. But gave up.

About the supercharger here's the link. This guy is really something.Do check out the thread.

OMG!!! Thats awesome.. he should have spent a lot of time and efforts for this.. i'd like to see some videos of the supercharged fiero... Is he in XBHP??
In our turbo project, a bmw turbo charger kit is used.. Only the engine is used.. Not the entire bike. the engine is 100% stock.. after the turbo charger installation, the engine revs very freely and produces a lot of power(17 bhp in the Gear box sprocket).. wasn't able to calculate the rpm...

the usual clutch arrangement of Fiero is:
              clutch bell+steel+cork+steel+cork+steel+cork+steel+cork+s teel+cork+Clutch holder..
The mod which i have done is
              clutch bell+steel+steel+cork+steel+cork+steel+cork+steel+cork+steel+cork+C lutch holder..
The springs are fully tightened.. The lever becomes very hard.. The clutch will be very powerful(almost like apache's).. But cork plate wears out pretty soon..

Yup Mr Venugopal and his friend Srinivas are genuine tech minded guys.I've met him and took ideas for the oil-cooler installation from him. No,i don't think he's active here ,or for that matter on t-bhp either. He does help in these projects and has in fact worked as guide to many such supercharger projects on a fiero which were taken up as academic projects by students.

They have designed and fabricated the V-twin fiero for ZEN TVS as well.Which i have seen plenty of times and it has been used in drag and other races by ZEN TVS.
                Twin Cylinder Enfield - Page 2 - Team-BHP

ZEN TVS had been involved in racing from a long time and they have been doing these engine mods ever since the fiero came into production. They used to participate regularly in races of all kinds with their own team of bikes which has about 5 to 6 fieros, shoguns, shaolins, victors etc.

That's something ,adding turbo to fiero's engine. Thanks for the input on the clutch set-up.Have you tried using any other bike's clutch set?or for that matter any other clutch modification works?

Regarding the clutch, I think TVS centra clutch is a direct fit.. Don't know how good it is.. Centra clutch plates are 650 rs compared to stock plates@200rs.. thats more than three times..

Welcome to the forum dude, you've surely dropped down to the right thread here.
You do have a very good setup mate and this makes me really jealous.

Coming to my fiero, i have a Fiero F2 its slightly modded and all of its credit goes to gixxer here, it was him who forced the modification bug to bite me and make me mod my bike, can't tell how lucky i was to find him here...
I am running RTR 180's bore kit with stock piston
                    TCI ignition
                    Semi ports
BS 29 Carb with 112.5 main jet
RTR 160's exhaust without the resonator
                    Seriously backed RTR 180's rearsets
                    A further lowered FZ's handlebar
                    Got a self starter installed
                    p135 backlit switches
Projector headlamps which used to light 100w of hid once upon a time

My reverted projects were mostly electrical
I had installed a Maruti 800 Alternator on my bike
done and re-done dozens of coil rewinding to get a perfect DC setup.

Even for me the clutch is the biggest area of concern with my bike.
I had replaced the last set 2500 kms ago and they are already gone bad.

Currently my bike's drinking oil more than petrol and ever after replacing the valve seals (as the rings and bore was fine) the oil drinking problem hasn't stopped.
Infact its turned from bad to worse.

As far as your bike is concerned, do you race it in any cup/series/championship?
It looks like a wicked screamer, have experienced a bit of a dirt biking and its literally the most fun one can ever have on 2 wheels.
Even i wanted to dirt mod my bike, but falling short of vitamin M.

Do keep sharing valuable information to newbie kids like me, so that we learn a thing or two.

This is the only non-lovable part of the fiero.. It has got the same clutch of the 8bhp max/sam..

Is it smoking a lot?? Try changing the oil rings and check for valve bend(Causes valve oil seal to blow sooner).. Has the bike lost torque??

In coimbatore, there will be a lot of races conducted by some companies like Adithya spares, Sharlu lubes, Park college, etc every month.. I race on behalf of V.A.R club.. There are many classes of racing.. Since i'm racing/practicing only for the past 6 months, i'm participating in Beginners and novice classes.. Once i got second place in beginners class and 4th in novice class.. Got 4th once in stock class as well(When my fiero was stock)..

My bike's still on original jap clutch set,so no slippage issues so far.But i'd like to be prepared for it's replacement.Yes,i had read joel mentioning about centra clutch plates, but are they still the same quality and available?
Another thing, you're using OE TVS clutch set aren't you? It's a FCC one made by it's partner in china,it's a metal one and not like the entire cork/paper local one.

About the twin-fiero,yes it's stock and puts out somewhere in the region of 30 bhp.

Coming to the swing-arm mod, a few years ago i had seen a fiero with uni monoshox and swing-arm .On inquiring about it ,he told me that they had cut the air-filter box to fit the mono-shox,in order to avoid going for K&N and he had no chain slack or other such issues with this mod.
I have seen a friend's RTR,it's swing-arm is very broad and i might need to modify the rear-sets,brake pedal, silencer position etc in order to fit it.Mr Murthy had told me the victor GLX's swing-arm is best suited to the fiero, while still keeping the flickability as it is and not needing too much mods.
I was seriously tempted to go for mono-shox back then, but had backed out thinking of the mods needed ,as i had still a lot of performance mods on mind which had higher priorities.

Thanks buddy,i simply told you about the mods which had already been done on many fieros,so i don't deserve that credit. I am happy you took the initiative to get those things done and now i feel bad about the current state of your bike. What you needed was some good lathe guys back then when you did the mod and a good mech.Anyhow now you've learn't the things yourselves and pretty much know how to go about it.That's how we learn, but it could have been lot better if you had folks like we do here in bangalore.
What's the current status of your bike and when are you getting the engine worked on?

You should be happy to find another guy interested in modifying bikes here.

                              Haven't you burnt them yet??
And regarding the clutch manufacturer, TVS uses HCM (Ho Chi Minh) clutch plates.. It is also a chinese company.. Bajaj uses Endurance clutch plates.. Both of 'em are bad.. I once tried MK and it was good.. Stock lasts longer, but MK gives a crisp bite...

Yeah i know it's HCM.HCM has a JV/tech tie-up with FCC to manufacture clutch plates and hence TVS is buying from em dirt cheap.FCC has been in india from some time now and they supply to all the bike makers including the new gen pulsars. The quality of clutch plates made in india by FCC is really good in comparison to that of the HCM.
