    • @Nano - I am not that knowledgeable as you guys are on the interior mechanism. Just a thought, did you get your head checked for leakage?

Reason, I had the same oil drinking issue on my Bullet. Got the pistons/rings changed, resleeved the bore and blah blah. But nothing worked. It used to drink oil crazily. Then got the head changed from a different bike, it completely stopped drinking oil. Then on closely examining, there was leakage from the head and then you must have guessed the rest.

      • Nice to see fiero thread back in Full swing..

So here is another update on my Mileage - I was called multiple times from ASC who got the tuning done on my bike for updates on the same, I told them no Improvements what so ever, so they called me back again to do a recheck on it..

I went this sunday & they did CO tuning again assuring that it will give atleast 40kmpl & we went for a mileage check, Mech was driving & I was pillion.. He rode the bike in mixed conditions.. some traffic & some empty roads with 50-55kmph speeds.. we came back to check that mileage it was giving was 30kmpl.. ASC had lost thier face & started complaining about rings/Bore etc.. I told them that its Okie & was about to leave, whilst some person came & told me that he would manually tune it & asked me to check this time with filling petrol from a can..

I came back home & I am not thinking too much about the mileage now..

Gixxer has suggested that we should go to Mr. Murthy of Zen once & discuss on this of how to proceed on this, most probably will go over a weekend & see.

Something's obviously not right. So you should get to the bottom of it.So let's start with opening up of the carb and then proceed further.

Check carb slider and diaphragm.. A micro tear in it can cause loss of mileage and a little drop in initial power(barely noticeable).. Check for the free rotation of your wheels and check chain for proper lubrication and seating in the sprocket.. Also, check for cracks or leaks in carb manifold and air filter hose.. there is also a possibility that your valve is set without clearance or the valve guide might be overriding the valve.. Check for clogged air filters and exhaust pipes.. If all these are right and your piston is in proper condition, then you'll get a proper mileage.. I Guess i've mentioned everything that could be in a bike..

              I can't judge if there's a head leakage.
However I do have some oil leakage issues at one of the Allen bolts on the cylinder head.
I think that could be it to sum things up.
To get a solution I need to change the head to the RTR 180's and its an expensive deal.
Not to mention the exhaust too, i need to buy a new one coz the current one though is rtr's but I've cut and custom made the mouth of the exhaust to fit my current exhaust port's output.

Besides I think changing the head as well as the exhaust to the rtr 180's would pretty much solve all my issues.

I've opened up the entire engine twice just to replace all the gaskets and oil seals to avoid oil leakage, but all my efforts have gone in vain.
Changing the head as well as the exhaust should solve all my issues, but I seriously doubt weather it will work out for me.
Giving a lot to a fiero.
Expecting a lot from a fiero.

              • @All

Last night the carb got blown clean off the manifold with a loud bang! It's due to high compression, lean slow circuit setting and also because of the fact that i had put conventional NGK R CR9E spark plug to try out as well. From what I've seen, iridium spark plug performs well above the platinum and the conventional spark plug.I had no such issues with the NGK R CR7E IX iridium plug, but had gone back to CR9E to find out the difference in heat dissipation as summer's here and the platinum doesn't perform if the engine gets rich supply during cold start(i keep the throttle 1/4th open while kick starting). So i might have to go for the NGK R CR9E IX.

I tried out the 14T sprocket at the front Waited for a month before posting feedback here. I must say I can feel the difference in a good way. Way better cruising on highways. My pickup has not been affected negatively - so that makes it even better. The decarb I had done helped in this aspect. Hope a lot more people go in for this simple job.

                          @ Vignesh

Nice to see your Fiero with the front motocross mudguard. I have put one on since a few years and just love the look and functionality of it. Plus, it shows the off-road pedigree of the motorcycle. Don't think I can go back to stock fender :P
Ride it like you stole it! But buy your own helmet.

Good thing, i'm partial to taller gearing, maybe it's because of starting off with a jawa of my uncle and then my cousin's RX and another friend's roadking.Fiero has taller gearing ,but putting a 14t makes it even better.

I've ridden my Fiero more as a mx bike than a street.. BTW, That ugly looking mudguard(flapper) which is currently on my bike is something which i got for 50rs... i don't mind how the bike looks unless i ride it on the streets..

My friend had a Roadking with a slightly polished head and boy was it something! That thing would overtake a rx100 at 100+kmph, as though the rx was standing still !! Any stock jawa/yezdi has to be ridden at highway speeds to know what they were capable of! The effortless way in which they cruised at 100+kmph speeds all day long, without even a single vibe coming through the tank, while the other 100cc strokers would give us a hard-on from the vibes coming from the tank at those speeds!! Really amazing bikes those were and they were THE bikes for tracks as well.Built to last! That's what they were.Being from Mysore Jawa had a special meaning for us.Incidentally the fieros/F2/FX too were being manufactured in Mysore
